There was no time to lose. The pack of Murks was closing in fast. Eleanor sprinted sideways, putting nearly twenty metres between herself and the riverbank. She turned to face the water and activated her Lightning Core, unleashing its full power.
She froze for a split second as lightning wrapped around her entire body.
This was the first time she had experienced her core at full output. The surge of energy coursing through her felt so immense it seemed as though her body might burst apart. It was utterly different from her previous experiences with the Storm Heart. Steeling herself, she charged towards the river at full speed. Her feet barely seemed to touch the ground; each step arrived before the last had truly landed. As she reached the river's edge, she leapt into the air with all her strength.
