Elsa held her waist with her two arms and leaned towards Rommel who was leaning on the book practicing magic.
"Shit, enemy has spotted my position." she said and wanted to run away. But alas, her legs were too small. Elsa caught her with ease and took her out of the library.
"Don't you think you have caused enough trouble for a day little miss?" Elsa asked tired of Rommel's antics and still feeling sleepy.
"Unhand me frauen, I deserve to be treated with the respect a Field Marshal deserves." Rommel twisted and kicked trying to free herself from Elsa's grip.
However, Elsa was having none of it, "Little ball of trouble, I don't care if you are a field marshal, house marshal or court marshal. Currently, I am your bedtime Marshal. So go sleep right now."
Rommel suddenly remembered something, "Wait, aren't you supposed to be just a maid of Rheinfeldt house? Who gave you the power to command me?"
She remembered from her experience throughout the whole day, what positions she, Else and the two people who called themselves her parents held. It technically means that Elsa was still below her.
Elsa felt a bit hurt, but she knew the little miss was a bit eccentric. Still Elsa was a special maid. After all, she was the young lady's personal maid and has been with her since her birth.
"Little young miss, I maybe just a maid, but remember, right now, you will do whatever I tell you to. There will be no ifs or buts."
Rommel understood, she has stepped on a weak point. But for some reason instead of exploiting it, she felt like never going there. Meanwhile, Elsa took Rommel back to her room and put her on the bed.
"Fine," Rommel said unknowingly. After all she had to accept that this world is different and Nora or Montgomery or whoever that person was has already explained many things. "But don't for a second think that I give up. As an adjutant you will obey my commands."
Elsa was putting the blanket on Rommel when she said those words. She stopped, "Oh, little lady is finally understanding? Or are you plotting something else?"
"Nothing as of now, but tomorrow, I want some new clothes, custom made ones. I will draw them for you myself."
Elsa let out a sigh, but whatever, for now she can go back to rest. On her way back, Elsa thought about what Rommel told her previously, 'just a maid'.
While it is true that she was indeed just a maid but she also has background. She was a trusted maid after all, her family has been serving the ducal family as maids and butlers for generations.
As for the little lady, what could she do? Complaining to the duke or the duchess won't yield her anything. Both of them trusted her.
After all, as the Duke and the Duchess they had spent very little time with Eris due to their noble duties. And in this time it was always up to Elsa to take care of this little ball of fun and grief.
Elsa went to sleep. She was tired from the antics of the little miss today. So she didn't even have the time to think about what dress she was about to custom draw for her.
Meanwhile, Rommel woke up earlier than even the rooster of the ducal estate. She immediately went to the table and started to draw on a white paper, what dress she would wear.
She had checked the entire cuddard for clothes that didn't come with frills and except for the few nightdress, there were none. So she had to have new dresses and what was better than the real uniform that he wore and ruled the desert with?
It was far more time effective than searching clothes in the mansion. Soon Elsa came in to wake up Eris/Rommel. But her eyes were wide open when she saw the little girl already awake plus the dress she'd drawn.
A lightweight tan colored tunic with four pockets, a trouser with riding breeches, a cap and two long black boots, in a word everything a lady must not wear. But Rommel handed her the piece of paper almost like the Duke giving his knight commander a quest mission.
"Little miss, you cannot wear this! This, doesn't suit a beautiful young lady like you." Elsa rejected the dress proposal immediately. This made Rommel angry.
"Do not question my judgment frauen." Rommel said. Her words like she is the duke herself, but alas it was more like a cute hubris since the little Eris had no commanding figure.
"I'll see what the Duke says milady. Without him, I have no power to authorize a new dress for you. Now please prepare for breakfast. Don't keep your parents waiting."
It was a lie. Eris could get a dress as she wanted but this dress is something the Duke and the Duchess must know. This was Elsa's final lifeline from stopping this cute little ball of grief.
"Fine, then give me that back. I will talk to Herr Duke und Frau Duchess myself." Rommel stretched her hand towards Elsa.
"Good for you milady. Now wear those 'frilly' dresses that you hate. The tailor will need some time before tailoring the new.... dress." Elsa was relieved. At least she won't have to take the immediate scoldings of the Duchess.
"Oh and bring me an advanced book on 'magic'." This was Rommel's final word before she went to the bathroom to wash her face.
After Elsa dressed her again, this time with lot less struggle than yesterday, Rommel walked downstairs to the dining room where her parents or so they introduced, sat waiting for her.
