Chapter 17 - Return to the Ruins of the Past

Veran – The Buried Truth

In the heart of the desert, Veran stared at his master with eyes filled with doubt and anger.

"Speak," he ordered, his voice tense. "Tell me the truth… why am I still alive? Why did you save me?"

The master sighed, the wind blowing the sand around them, creating an atmosphere full of mystery.

"Because you are the last heir of the Nyx Clan," he revealed, staring at him with a deep gaze. "And because your family… died because of me."

Veran felt his heart freeze. Images of the massacre returned to his mind. The village in flames, his parents' screams, the poison filling the air. He and his granddaughter were the only survivors.

"You… killed my family?"

The master shook his head. "No. But I led the hunters to your clan. I… I allowed it to happen."

Veran clenched his fists. Every fiber of his being wanted to lash out at the man. But before he could act, the master spoke again.

"Your clan was dangerous. Your ancestors held secrets of the ancestral poisons, and the Puppet Master of War feared you. He ordered your elimination."

Veran shivered. "And why did you save me?"

"Because… I knew you would have the strength to take revenge one day."

A tense silence stretched between them.

Veran gritted his teeth. "I do not fight for revenge. I fight to rewrite fate."

The master smiled. "Then prove it to me. Use the power of your clan. Become what you were meant to be."

At that moment, Veran felt something change inside him. The poison inherited from his clan awakened. And with it, his true strength.

But before he could test this power… a shadow moved across the dunes.

An assassin had been sent to kill him.

The truth could wait. Now he had to survive.

Raigor – The Third Test: The Judgement of the Lion

Having passed the Lake of Lost Souls, Raigor now faced the third and final test.

Before him stood a giant stone portal, decorated with ancient golden runes.

"This is the most difficult test," said Gormund, his spiritual companion. "Here you will not have to defeat an enemy. You will have to prove who you really are."

Raigor took a deep breath and entered.

Darkness enveloped him.

And when he opened his eyes… he was back on the battlefield of his past.

Around him, the bodies of his comrades lay lifeless. Blood soaked the ground.

In front of him, his old self—Raigor before he had gone back in time.

"You cannot change anything," his reflection said in a cruel voice. "In the end, the war will destroy everything."

Raigor clenched his fists. "I can change the future. I am no longer the same man."

His reflection laughed. "Then prove it."

In an instant, the Raigor of the past lashed out at him with the fury of a beast. It was the most difficult fight of all: fighting against himself.

Every blow was a challenge to his own destiny. But Raigor could not lose.

With a final roar, he struck down his old self.

The illusion vanished.

Before him, the Divine Physician awaited him.

"You have passed the test," said the figure bathed in golden light. "Now I can grant you what you seek."

Raigor nodded. He now had the key to healing his beloved's sister.

But one question nagged at him: was he really ready to change fate... or had the Puppet Master of War already foreseen everything?
