Everything fades to white. And suddenly, I see the woman from my dream earlier. She holds my face, and I stare into her fiery orange eyes, and the white scales on her neck and cheek.
"Wake up, Mirelah! It's a trick. It's playing with your fears. The way back will soon appear!" She says frantically, and just then, my eyes fly open in time for me to see the creature's jaw descending to my neck.
I manage to twist away, and its nose rams into the ground beside my head. I shove it off me before it can recover, and my gaze darts down at my incapacitated arm. Weak, hurting, bleeding badly and too painful to move.
I push myself to my feet, not before grabbing an arrow from my quiver.
This thing… that's what it is.
Queen Velnara mentioned it too. Her words replay in my head, and my grip tightens on the arrow as they do.
