The both of them had finally reached the entrance of Agnix. Phinx looked around the town noticing it was empty, as if the towns people had been kidnapped or had left…
"Where is everyone?" Questioned Phinx.
They kept moving on in the town, hoping to find people, but sadly all they found was leftovers of civilisation.
"There's no one…." Said Phinx while being anxious.
"Let's not give up yet, my comrade." Replied Commander Salem.
After Salem had said this; they had heard a loud scream coming from the distance
"What?"
"Let's go!" said Commander Salem as he ran to the distance in haste.
As they had gotten closer; an image of a spot in the horizon was coming their way. Phinx readied his sword and was about to draw it, when Commander Salem lowered his hand to stop Phinx.
The image became clearer and clearer and eventually they could see, a young girl being chased by the Legion's huge hounds.
"Helpppp!" Said the girl as she ran for her life.
"Now!" Said Commander Salem as he too draw his sword for battle.
Phinx then shouted at the young girl, "get behind me!"
The hounds had gotten closer and had numbered five.
After they had circled the three of them, one of the hounds had suddenly leaped at Phinx unexpectedly. Phinx life was now in the paws of the beast. He closed his eyes, ready to embrace death, until he heard the beast howl in pain
"What?"
He opened his eyes to see that the hounds that once cornered them were dead on the floor. He then looked to his left and had found the culprit. Commander Salem!
"Thanks Commander!" Said Phinx with a sigh of relief
"Dont mention it." Said the Commander while sporting a smile.
After Phinx had caught his breath he turned to the young girl and asked.
"And who might you be miss?"
"Solaina."Said the young girl while catching her breath.
"Im presuming you are part of the Phoenix Nation based on your name"
"Yes." Said the girl still catching her breathe after all she did run a marathon.
"Well where is your family Solaina?" Asked Commander Salem
"I don't have one…" said Solaina while trying to hide her grief.
After a long discussion both Phinx and Commander Salem had gathered enough info from Solaina. It seemed that she was part of the orphanage in Agnix, and that everyone had evacuated to other towns, after all Agnix was not what it use to be in its prime.
"How come you weren't evacuated?" Asked the Commander in bewilderment.
"Well I had arrived late and miss the carriages."
A few minutes had went by and finally Commander Salem spoke.
"Why dont you join us on our adventure, young miss."
"Well…" said Solaina with hesitation.
"You don't have anywhere else to go, so why not." Replied Phinx
"I don't know." Replied Solaina while being cautious.
"Well it's your decision to make. If you do come, meet us at the entrance of the town tomorrow." Said the Commander.
Phinx and Commander Salem then walked off into the distance, preparing for their next trip.
