Chapter 3 - Chapter Three: Final Preparation

With his mindset, he places the last stat point into Endurance and enjoys the rush of power flowing through him.

Deciding to check his system and see his progress in only a few minutes, he opens the complete system main screen.

Initially marvelling at the change, he soon turns to dread as he realises he has never reverted his claws and eyes to their human form.

Seeing his current stamina and knowing what will happen once it reaches zero, he reenters his apartment from the balcony.

Rushing towards his room so he doesn't end up unconscious on the floor once again, he barely makes it in time for the system to notify him of something.

As his mind fades into sleep, Peter silently thanks God or whoever is out there for this small mercy.

When he wakes the next morning, having slept through the previous day's dinner, he is hungry but well-rested. A side effect of having 0 stamina seems to be a deep, peaceful sleep.

He gets up and prepares once again for the day, this time in his school uniform, as today is his last day at his current school.

Peter got the Tuesday off, as that was when he planned to do his packing, but a coincidental excuse gave him a reason to do it the day before.

After having his favourite breakfast cereal, Peter leaves his apartment and catches the local bus, enjoying the rowdy atmosphere on the bus.

He said hello to the few people he was friendly with and asked them how their weekend had gone, among other mundane topics.

When they arrived at school and classes began, his teachers wished him luck in his new town, a sentiment shared by many of his classmates.

Peter thanked them all for the well wishes, hoping they were sincere, as he likely wouldn't see them for at least a few months.

Once school ended for the day, Peter quickly went home, politely rejecting a few of his friends wanting to hang out one final time.

Peter cited the need to be ready for his drive in two days when he actually wanted to sunbathe and earn more exp, which he did when he returned home. He enjoyed a good book for the two and a half hours until he completed the daily quest.

When the quest finished, and he got another 5 exp, Peter looked at his phone for the time and, realising it was 6:30, went back home.

Feeling lazy and extremely hungry for an absurd amount of meat, Peter orders two Meatlover pizzas, adding extra toppings to satisfy his craving.

He asked the system why he wanted meat so much. As he hopingly doubted, the system had a subtle "help" function that soon answered his question.

[To answer the User's question, your body is craving this volume of food, specifically meat, due to your evolution into a higher existence.]

[Your body, mind and soul are being constantly elevated, requiring large amounts of nutrients to fuel and sustain this change.]

[Your craving for meat, however, is due to the species you are progressing towards. They are primarily carnivorous in nature.]

Hearing this answer and knowing the species he's becoming due to his active skill, he accepts the answer.

Thanking the system, he sits on his couch and watches whatever is on TV while he waits for his meal to arrive.

To his and his hunger's thanks, the pizza soon arrives, and he voraciously goes through the first one, silently marvelling at how fast he ate.

What amazed him even more was that he still felt like there was more room in his stomach for food, but knowing how deceptive fast eating can be, Peter decided to wait.

When some time passes and he still feels hungry, Peter has half the remaining pizza, leaving the remaining four slices for the next day.

After his meal, he continues to watch TV and has a few leftover snacks before eventually heading to his room when it gets late.

He has a scalding hot shower, preparing for sleep before changing into his pyjamas and getting out the book he started reading earlier.

Wanting to spend the last 24 minutes of his day performing a "Full Use", he accesses the system and initiates the "Draconic Transformation" skill once more.

As the change overtakes him, the pain he felt during his first transformation returns, but he notices a stark difference: the pain is easier to handle.

His body was likely beginning to adjust to the transformation, which would reduce the pain he experienced, a process that would occur as he used the skill more frequently.

Once the change ended, he began reading the book, enjoying the challenge of reading with sharp, clawed hands.

It was interesting that he had to be extra careful as he turned each page, or he risked letting his emotions get the better of him and ripping the pages.

As he read, his thoughts drifted to his powers and how he had used them absurdly. His abilities were designed for combat, yet he was sitting in bed and reading.

If anyone saw him, they'd call him a monster or a freak, either trying to kill him like the witches of old or reporting him to the police, where a possible investigation would occur.

Peter knew nothing would come of those investigations, as no one would believe that a snake-eyed, clawed individual was reading a book in a bed.

A mountain of exhaustion suddenly disrupts his thoughts, and he realises he's about to fall unconscious.

He quickly puts his book down so it doesn't get damaged, turns off the light, and lies down, waiting for unconsciousness to take him.

Peter doesn't have to wait long. Exhaustion overtakes him, and he falls asleep, a deep, empty rest hiding profound and terrifying secrets.

When Peter wakes the next morning, fully rested and ready for the day, unaware of the secrets whispered into his mind as he slept, Peter does his morning ritual as usual.

Except this time, he doesn't have to get ready for school, so he makes a large breakfast and takes it outside, enjoying the morning sun as he eats.

He enjoys the meal, savouring the sun's warmth and decent cooking, wondering what will come of his time in Beacon Hills.

He hopes his cousin and aunt are doing well and is excited to spend time with them, possibly revealing these new powers to them.

Four hours pass as he spends the time sunbathing, alternating between a book and his phone to pass the time.

When he receives the 5 experience points from his daily quest, Peter returns home, unloads his suitcase from his inventory, and double-checks that he has everything.

Looking through his suitcase, Peter finds only a few things missing, so he looks through his home, hoping he has what he needs.

Regrettably, he must have already used them, as no matter how hard he looked, he could only find empty packets he hadn't thrown away.

So, needing to get them for his journey, he closes his suitcase and leaves his apartment, heading towards the store to get the missing products before his journey begins.
