Chapter 25 - The Queen’s Retaliation

Adkins Real Estate – War Room

"Aurora, I found someone who can get us to the top floor!" Daniel announced, practically bursting with excitement.

Aurora turned, one brow arched. "Uncle, you're faster than a rocket."

He puffed his chest. "Of course I am... especially when it's about avenging my goddaughter."

Laughter broke around the room as Daniel beamed like a child earning gold stars.

Aurora allowed a faint smile. "Alright then. Let's begin."

"Begin with what?" Riya asked, puzzled.

"With this," Ethan chimed in, striding into the room like he owned it.

"With what exactly?" Susan asked, arms crossed.

"With what I found," Ethan grinned. "Guess what—I found the prey."

"Isabella?" Riya guessed.

He shook his head, eyes glinting. "More than that."

"WHAT?!" the room echoed in disbelief.

Aurora remained still, unreadable...as if she'd known all along.

"It doesn't matter who's fighting who," she said, rising from her seat. "Since they dragged us into this, we'll show them hell."

Ethan blinked, suddenly misty-eyed.

"Tears? Really?" Susan said, amused.

"Of course! Watching my darling become the queen she was born to be..."

Aurora narrowed her eyes.

Daniel cleared his throat. "Our CEO is strong, competent, and...unlike someone I won't name.....focused. Mr. Wang, time to move."

Aurora shook her head, muttering, "Children."

Susan and Riya stifled a laugh.

Drakos Headquarters

Aurora entered Drakos HQ with Daniel, Susan, and Riya. Her face was unreadable, but her stride was pure fire.

"If I get stopped, make sure the gates open," she said through her earpiece.

"Already done," Ethan replied smoothly.

She sat calmly in the reception lounge while Daniel approached the desk.

"Sir, who are you here to meet?" the receptionist asked.

Before he could answer, a voice interjected.

"They're with me."

The receptionist stiffened. "If this is regarding Adkins Real Estate, I'm afraid...."

"They're not," the man cut her off. "Ms. Allen, are you implying you outrank me?"

Her face turned pale.

"If we lose a contract over your decision, will you be held accountable?"

"N-no sir. I apologize, Mr. Brown."

"Mr. Clarke," he corrected coldly, then turned to Daniel with a handshake.

Daniel led him back to Aurora.

Jason stopped for a moment, stunned by the woman before him. Her presence… it rivaled Theron's. No, surpassed it.

"Ms. Adkins," he greeted, composed but respectful. "An honor."

Aurora raised an eyebrow. "Mr. Brown. I didn't think we'd meet like this."

Jason blinked, caught off-guard.

"I imagined we'd meet in your office..after your brilliant proposal. But someone stole it before we could. Still, I doubt that's the only reason you're helping me... even knowing I'm about to drag your boss through hell."

Boom.

Jason absorbed the hit. She wasn't just stunning...she was dangerous.

"You're right," he admitted. "It's not just about Isabella. This company gave me everything. I rose because of what he built. If protecting that means backing your retaliation… so be it."

Aurora's eyes softened slightly. You've earned yourself a loyal soldier, Theron, she thought.

"Fine. Lead the way. Get us to the top floor. I'll take it from there."

Jason nodded, guiding them toward a lesser-used elevator...far from Isabella's reach.

Only two buttons. Interesting, Aurora thought.

As they waited, Jason glanced at her. "You have the evidence. You could sue us. Why come in person?"

She didn't answer right away. She knew the pain of building from nothing..even with support. But Theron… he'd built alone, while even his family waited for him to fail.

Was that the only reason she cared?

No answer.

"I give tenfold of what I receive—love or revenge," she finally said, a smirk tugging at her lips.

Jason was stunned staring her in awe.

A cold sensation brushed the back of his neck. He turned to find Daniel glaring.

Gulp.

Susan and Riya bit their lips, barely holding in laughter.

Ding. The elevator stopped at the 40th floor.

"You go, Mr. Brown," Aurora said. "We'll take it from here."

He nodded as the doors closed.

Top Floor

Ding.

The 41st floor.

A receptionist darted forward. "W-who are you?! You can't be here—ma'am, please..!"

Aurora didn't stop walking.

She strode with precision. Confidence. Untouchable authority.

The receptionist scrambled behind her.

Before anyone could react...

BAM.

The conference doors burst open.

Silence dropped like a bomb.

Is this real? Jane wondered. A woman who walks like thunder and looks like royalty? Wow.

She's lethal. No goddess.

Goddess of War. Her throat dry as she instinctively stepped aside, heart pounding.

Jason froze. His usual calm shattered under the weight of Aurora's thunderous presence. He couldn't even blink.

She even overshadows our boss... John thought. She's the real alpha.

Theron's eyes flickered..for just a second..then he straightened.

"Who are you? Who let you in here?"

Aurora's gaze slid to Isabella. "Why don't you do the honors, Ms. Wilson?"

Isabella turned ghost-white.

Her assistant nearly dropped the tablet.

Why is she here? How? What does she know? Isabella's thoughts raced.

Jason took the moment to declare, "Welcome, Ms. Adkins."

Gasps rippled through the room.

Theron blinked. Once. Twice.

John nearly fainted. The blood drained from his face, and his legs threatened to give way. Our boss is powerful… but her? She might be invincible.

A sharp voice rang out. "Who allowed you in?"

Aurora turned slowly, eyes like ice. "Instead of asking who allowed me in… ask what made me barge in like this."

Her gaze slid to Theron then answered "Mr. Wilson, I'm sure you know the answer."

Silence.

Then Theron's voice, low and venom-laced: "You came running after our legal notice? I didn't know you had the spine to challenge Drakos Corp."

He leaned back, watching her.

But she didn't flinch. Didn't blink.

He hated it.

He hated how she stood—tall, elegant, and untouchable.

He hated how her presence pulled all eyes away from his.

He hated that she hadn't said another word… and still, the entire room was hers.

He hated how even he couldn't look away.

But above all, he had to accept one thing:

She literally is a goddess.

**Not just any goddess** a war goddess.

If she wasn't cloaked in that lethal aura, every man would've run toward her, desperate to make her theirs.

Alas, they can't.

No one can even go near.

Because this breathtaking rose…

is completely covered in poisonous thorns.

He gulped.

And in that moment...he didn't realize…

He'd just dug his own grave.
