Chapter 139 - Stop

CASEY

We decided to leave when it became clear that whatever we thought was going to happen today wasn't going to happen.

So we just went silent. Not knowing what to say. All of us were clashing with ourselves about what was appropriate. Because I realized something, I couldn't be free with her anymore. Not in the way I wanted. And I couldn't even blame her. I mean, it's not like it's her fault. It's just… the circumstance. The way things are now.

Charles is her other half. I get that. They're close. They tell each other everything. And now I can't be sure if what I say to her won't eventually end up with Sebastian.

"I think we can call it a night," I finally say. I don't think we're missing anything.

"Yeah, you're right," she says softly. "I'm going to call Charles and tell him to come pick me up."

"If you want, I can give you a ride," I offer. "I'll just call my driver and then probably drop you off on the way."
