Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: On This Island, I Am the Boss

"Oh my god, he really can understand us!"

"Could he actually be a god?"

"B*llsh*t! At most, he's just a scam artist."

"Agreed. The guy's only level 1—what kind of god is that weak?"

The ten seeds each voiced their opinions.

Han Feng cleared his throat and said, "Alright, that's enough. Let me get you all into the soil first. You can chat all you want later."

"Hold on! You haven't watered us yet. Without water, how are we supposed to sprout and grow?" one seed protested.

Han Feng rubbed his nose. "How much water does each pit need?"

"About a third of a bottle of mineral water," another seed reminded him.

"That much?" Han Feng frowned.

A third of a bottle per pit meant three full bottles for all ten pits. That was a significant amount of water.

"This is just a one-time thing. Don't be so stingy."

"If you water us now, we'll sprout by morning. The faster we mature, the sooner you get your harvest. I'm sure you can do the math."

"We're a worthwhile investment. Stop hesitating."

"Fine."

Han Feng nodded, opened his backpack, and took out three bottles of mineral water. Licking his dry lips, he muttered, "I haven't even had a single sip, and I'm supposed to let you guys drink first. If you don't give me a surprise tomorrow, I'll crush every last one of you!"

"Relax! We won't let you down!"

"Enough with the whining, just do it already!"

"I'm dying of thirst here! Hurry up!"

Gritting his teeth, Han Feng opened a bottle and began watering the pits one by one.

Soon, the three bottles of mineral water were completely drained.

He had managed to water nine pits, but the last one remained dry.

Han Feng grabbed an empty bottle, walked into his thatched hut, and filled it with water from the small spring before heading back. Tilting his head back, he drank deeply.

Gulp, gulp!

Within a few swigs, two-thirds of the bottle was gone.

"Ahh, that hits the spot!"

Wiping his mouth, Han Feng let out a hearty laugh.

"Hey, human! Drinking water right in front of us—have you no shame?"

"This is outrageous!"

"Do you even have a conscience?"

The seeds started complaining again.

"Alright, here it comes."

Han Feng chuckled and poured the remaining pure water into the last pit.

Then, he carefully placed the ten seeds into their respective pits and covered them with soil.

As soon as he finished, the seeds let out excited cheers.

"This feels amazing!"

"It's like being back in Mom's arms."

"Alright, brothers! Time to absorb nutrients and grow strong!"

"Grow, grow, grow!"

"Stay low and build up—don't rush it!"

Han Feng stood still for a moment, listening to their chatter. Then, grabbing his entrenching tool, he strode away.

His shelter was built, the seeds were planted. Next on his to-do list: gathering thatch.

Leaving his shelter behind, Han Feng made his way toward the eastern side of the island.

During his earlier exploration, he had discovered a vast field of tall grass there.

The thatch in that area was exceptionally lush, each stalk reaching a height of two meters.

If he could collect enough, he'd be able to craft tables, chairs, and beds. Plus, he could reinforce his thatched hut, making it more durable.

With this in mind, Han Feng felt a surge of motivation and quickened his pace.

Just as he was about to reach the field, he noticed something near a large rock—two beetles.

These beetles were entirely black, their bodies covered in a hard, gleaming shell that shimmered faintly, almost like obsidian.

They were small, only a few centimeters in length, but they exuded a sturdy and resilient aura.

Their heads were relatively tiny, shaped like pointed cones, with two raised eyes protruding from the surface.

At the moment, the two beetles were huddled together—one in front, one behind.

"What kind of bugs are these?"

Han Feng observed them with curiosity.

He had never seen beetles like these before, and his interest was piqued.

"Honey, there's a human spying on us!"

"What rotten luck!"

"Let's move somewhere else."

"Ignore him. Let him look if he wants to. Just pretend he doesn't exist."

"But he's huge—hundreds of times bigger than us! And his expression… he looks like he's up to no good. What if he decides to attack us?"

"No need to worry. This season, my body produces a deadly toxin! One bite from me, and even a mighty gorilla would drop dead."

"Wow! You're amazing, honey!"

"Just wait—you'll get to see my true power soon!"

Hearing that the beetle contained a lethal poison, Han Feng's expression changed. He quickly took several steps back.

"Honey, look! The human backed off!"

"I told you—he looks tough, but he's all bark and no bite. Just a weakling. He probably got scared by my dominating aura!"

"Honey, you're incredible!"

"Ha ha ha!"

Upon hearing this, Han Feng suddenly stopped in his tracks, his face darkening.

All bark and no bite?

A weakling?

Is that how this little bug sees me?

An insult like this was unbearable!

Han Feng suddenly bent down, grabbed a large rock, and strode back toward the beetles.

"Honey! Bad news—the human's coming back!"

The female beetle panicked.

"D*mn it! He dares to interrupt my moment of glory? I'll bite him and watch him drop dead on the spot!"

"You won't get the chance."

Han Feng sneered, then raised the rock high and brought it crashing down on the beetles.

The two beetles had never expected him to strike so suddenly. Caught off guard, they didn't even have time to dodge. They could only watch in horror as a massive shadow loomed over them.

BANG!

The rock landed squarely on them.

"Ahhh—!"

"Aghhh—!"

With two short, miserable screams, the beetles were flattened into nothing more than smears of crushed flesh.

"On this island, I am the boss. Anyone who dares to challenge me—dies."

Han Feng exhaled sharply, then shifted his gaze to the male beetle's remains.

Since it contained venom, even its corpse could be useful.
