Chapter 8 - Chapter 9: Without Clinging to Us, He Won't Survive

"Han Feng, now that you've seen our strength, do you still want to compete for the position of team leader?" Zhao Yunxi asked with a slight smile.

"I withdraw!" Han Feng sighed.

These three women were unbelievably strong—each more formidable than the last. Competing with them was utterly pointless. Since he had no chance of winning, he might as well step back.

"Now that Han Feng has withdrawn, the three of us will decide," Zhao Yunxi said calmly.

"I vote for Sister Zhao as the leader!" Yue Lingshan immediately declared.

"Same here," Liu Chushuang followed suit.

Han Feng had already anticipated this outcome. He shrugged. "I don't care either way."

"Since everyone has chosen me, I'll now set some rules," Zhao Yunxi announced, clearing her throat. "First, from now on, no matter what resources we collect, they must all be handed over to me for redistribution. Second, everyone must follow my orders. Anyone who disobeys will be punished accordingly. Lastly, I hope we can all work together as a team, staying united to grow stronger and survive."

Han Feng instantly frowned, displeased. "Whoever finds the resources should own them. Why should we hand everything over to you?"

With his unique ability to communicate with all things, he had an undeniable advantage in resource collection. If everything was distributed equally, wouldn't he be getting the short end of the stick? There was no way he would agree to such an unfair deal.

Zhao Yunxi's eyes flickered slightly. She spoke in a serious tone, "We are a team. Some things need to be handled with a unified approach. If you refuse to follow the arrangement, then we won't welcome you into our group."

"Fine, I'm out!" Han Feng said without hesitation.

"Han Feng, don't be so impulsive!" Yue Lingshan hurriedly shot him a warning glance.

Zhao Yunxi furrowed her brows, trying to persuade him. "You should understand how dangerous this island is. If you stay with us, you'll have our protection. But if you leave, how will you survive on your own?"

"Don't worry about me. I'll figure it out myself." Han Feng raised an eyebrow.

A man needing three women to protect him? If word got out, he'd be laughed at.

"Just don't come crying to us later!" Liu Chushuang snorted.

"You just make sure you don't come crying to me," Han Feng retorted before turning to leave.

"Should I go talk to him again?" Yue Lingshan suggested.

"Leave him be. He's just being stubborn," Liu Chushuang said coldly. "You'll see. In less than two days, he'll come crawling back to us. Without clinging to us, he won't survive on this island."

After parting ways with the three women, Han Feng strode swiftly toward the beach.

A hundred meters later, he arrived at his destination.

The sight before him was breathtaking—an endless stretch of ocean, shimmering under the sunlight, magnificent and boundless.

At this moment, the sea was unusually calm. Not a single ripple disturbed its glassy surface. It was as if a massive mirror reflected the clear blue sky above.

Han Feng scanned the scenery before shifting his gaze to the beach.

The sandy shore was eerily silent. There was no wind, no movement—almost as if time had stopped.

He didn't rush onto the beach but instead remained where he was, carefully observing his surroundings.

He knew that apparent tranquility often concealed hidden dangers.

His sharp eyes swept across every corner of the beach, searching for any signs of potential threats.

Suddenly, a patch of sand began to shift, slowly sinking inward, forming a funnel-shaped depression.

Boom!

A giant claw burst out from the sand, easily over twenty centimeters long. Clamped within its grasp was a large clam.

"Is that... a crab?" Han Feng muttered, astonished.

If just the claw was this massive, then how big was the entire creature?

Before he could react, an enormous, blue-colored crab emerged from the sand.

It was over half a meter long—about the size of a washbasin.

Its two massive claws waved in the air menacingly, exuding an aura of dominance, as if it were the ruler of this beach.

Crunch!

One of its claws snapped shut, instantly shattering the clam into tiny fragments.

Han Feng smacked his lips in amazement.

Good thing he hadn't rushed onto the sand. If he had stepped on that crab, he might have lost a foot.

But what happened next left him completely dumbfounded.

The large crab didn't immediately eat the clam. Instead, it turned and called out, "Honey, dinner's ready!"

Click-clack-clack...

From nearby, another section of the sand shifted.

A slightly smaller crab emerged—it was clearly a female.

"Honey, what's for dinner?" the female crab scuttled over excitedly.

"I caught a big clam for you. Come eat," the male crab said, offering the broken shell to her.

The female crab clacked her claws together. "I love clam meat! You're the best, honey!"

"Take your time. I'll go catch more," the male crab said before diving back into the sand.

"... Seriously?" Han Feng muttered. "Even on a deserted island, I have to watch crabs flaunt their love life? Unacceptable!"

His mind spun with ideas.

If he could take down these two massive crabs, not only would he secure a solid food source, but he'd likely gain a hefty amount of experience points as well.

With that thought, Han Feng glanced at the shovel in his hand.

For now, it was his only weapon.

Would a single strike be enough to kill the crab?

The shovel suddenly spoke up, "Boss, let's be rational here. Look at that crab's shell—it's as tough as rock. Breaking through its defense is nearly impossible, let alone killing it. My advice? Don't even try."

Han Feng pondered for a moment. The shovel had a point.

But he wasn't willing to leave empty-handed.

"Wait a minute!"

He suddenly remembered something—the beach had clams. Unlike crabs, clams weren't aggressive.

Catching a few and making clam soup sounded like a great idea.

Determined, Han Feng carefully moved away from the crabs and arrived at another section of the beach.

Once again, everything was eerily calm.

But was that calmness real, or was danger lurking beneath?

Instead of digging blindly, Han Feng crouched and spoke softly to the sand, "Hey, little beach, I've got a question for you."

A moment later, a voice responded, "What is it?"

Han Feng smirked. "Are there any clams or crabs around here?"

The beach scoffed. "Why should I tell you?"

Han Feng's grin widened maliciously. "If you don't, I'll pee and poop all over you. I'll disgust you so much, you'll never recover."

The beach: "..."
