Chapter 344: The Look of a Grandfather in Law
At the entrance of the secret chamber, Ye Cheng held Qian Renxue in his arms, gently stroking her silky golden hair as if soothing a small kitten. At the same time, he radiated his "divine light," silently bringing warmth to the girl whose heart had fallen into darkness, dispelling the shadows within her.
This was neither a charm spell nor a form of mental manipulation just a calming energy wave with a soothing effect. He had no interest in using mind control tricks to win a woman's heart. Feelings obtained that way were nothing but illusions.
Under Ye Cheng's comfort, the fear in Qian Renxue's heart gradually faded, her rationality returned, and then she suddenly became aware of her current state. Embarrassment surged within her. Even though she had seen their future relationship in the video, the truth was that they barely knew each other in reality.
Out of a woman's natural reserve, she should have pushed him away immediately. But her body instinctively clung to his warmth. So, she simply pretended that she hadn't fully recovered and continued holding onto him.
Ye Cheng, being highly perceptive to emotional fluctuations, naturally sensed that her emotions had stabilized. But since she wanted to stay like this a little longer, he was more than happy to oblige. After all, hugging such a stunning beauty was quite enjoyable.
She smelled incredible, and holding her felt amazing~
And so, they stayed like that for a little while longer.
Eventually, Ye Cheng figured it was time and patted her back lightly. "Feeling better now?"
Still resting against his chest, completely immersed in his warmth and reliability, Qian Renxue felt as if she had just woken up from a dream. She realized she couldn't stay like this forever.
There was something magical about this man just leaning against him made her feel an unparalleled sense of security. It was like lying under the shade of a tree on a lazy summer afternoon, with a gentle breeze soothing her soul.
All her exhaustion had melted away, making it almost impossible to pull herself out of that comfortable state.
"Thank you," she murmured, reluctantly releasing her grip around his waist. A wave of shyness hit her as she lowered her head slightly and whispered, "I feel much better now."
"It's nothing," Ye Cheng replied with a slight shake of his head. "Your grandfather has been revived. Everything went smoothly, and there were no issues. However, he's still in a deep sleep. Someone needs to wake him up, and I believe that person should be you."
"Grandfather…" Qian Renxue's heart trembled with excitement upon hearing those words.
They entered the secret chamber.
Qian Daoliu, who had previously been floating midair, had now settled onto the ground. His eyes remained closed as if he were in a deep slumber, waiting for someone to wake him.
Seeing her grandfather alive before her, Qian Renxue couldn't contain her emotions. She hurried forward, her voice trembling as she called out, "Grandfather, it's me, Xiaoxue! Can you hear me? Grandfather!"
Hearing the voice of his beloved granddaughter, Qian Daoliu's eyelids twitched slightly before he slowly opened his eyes. At first, his gaze was unfocused, but as soon as he saw the teary eyed Qian Renxue standing before him, memories flooded his mind.
Xiaoxue?
Wait! Didn't I sacrifice myself?
Why am I seeing Xiaoxue?
Did she fail to become a god?!
As that thought flashed through his mind, he quickly realized something was off. He could clearly feel immense power flowing through his body, as well as the solid presence of his own flesh and blood. This meant he was very much alive.
But he distinctly remembered sacrificing himself…
Could it have all been just a dream?
"Xiaoxue, what's going on?" Qian Daoliu hesitated before speaking. "I remember… I sacrificed myself. How am I still alive?"
Seeing her grandfather awake and fully aware, exactly as she remembered him, Qian Renxue finally felt at ease. The emotional turmoil she had experienced earlier had already calmed, allowing her to respond without breaking down.
"Don't worry, Grandfather! I've already become the Angel God! Your sacrifice wasn't in vain," she explained quickly.
"That's good!" Qian Daoliu let out a relieved sigh. His biggest concern had been whether something had gone wrong. But still… why was he alive?
"Grandfather… it was him who brought you back to life," Qian Renxue said, finally remembering Ye Cheng's presence. She quickly introduced him to her grandfather, her face turning a little red, as if she were introducing a boyfriend to her family.
"Oh, I see," Qian Daoliu responded, his gaze shifting between his granddaughter and Ye Cheng.
Noticing Qian Renxue's slightly shy demeanor, he couldn't help but smile knowingly. His eyes then landed on Ye Cheng, and in an instant, the way he looked at him changed.
The gaze of a grandfather in law.
Outwardly, he remained polite, saying, "I must sincerely thank you, Lord City Master, for granting me a second chance at life. Such a life saving grace is something I can never repay… (Perhaps I should just give you my granddaughter as thanks.)"
That last part, he wisely kept to himself.
After thinking it over, he decided that matters of love should be left to the younger generation.
Besides, according to the future shown in the video, these two were bound to end up together anyway. After all, their future daughter, Keli, already existed meaning their relationship was practically set in stone. As an old man, he saw no reason to meddle.
"You're too kind, senior," Ye Cheng said, feeling a little awkward under Qian Daoliu's knowing gaze. He remained humble, adding, "It was just a small effort on my part. Even without me, given enough time, Miss Xue would have been able to revive you herself."
"You're being too modest," Qian Daoliu chuckled. He knew Ye Cheng was just being polite resurrecting someone was no small feat. If Qian Renxue could have done it herself, she wouldn't have needed outside help in the first place.
Even if she could, it would have taken decades possibly even a century or more. There was no way it would have happened in just a few months. Otherwise, she wouldn't have sought someone else's assistance.
At this moment, Qian Daoliu's impression of Ye Cheng skyrocketed. Looking at these two, a perfect match in every way, he wished he could just marry them off immediately.
Then, they could join forces and have a talented great granddaughter for him to dote on.
At his age, he had no great ambitions left. Living a peaceful, leisurely life was the ideal retirement.
Though his body had just been reconstructed, it was evident from his aged appearance that he had no interest in rejuvenating himself. This old exterior was simply a reflection of his mentality his soul had shaped his new body, not Ye Cheng's design.
