Chapter 23 - Chapter 27 Repaying Kindness

Due to work obligations, Mu Zhenzong had to leave after ensuring that Mu Xingfeng was out of danger. He Yushu initially wanted to stay with her son for a few more days, but couldn't help thinking about what happened with her daughter a few days ago. According to her daughter, Mu Xingfeng didn't follow their plan to go to the hotel.

Although she was eager to know what happened next, she was also aware of her son's temperament. Truth be told, she was scared as well. How could she dare to ask? So, she left with her husband.

After everyone had left, Mu Xingfeng stared blankly at the woman's coat hanging by the side of the bed.

When he woke up, the doctor told him that he had broken a rib, and the wound on his back was infected. The worst part was severe physical exhaustion and dehydration. Everyone said he was lucky; otherwise, he could have been in serious trouble this time.

He knew clearly that if it weren't for that little girl, even if the helicopter conducted a rescue search, it would still be hard to find him in that location. He owed her one more time, and this time it was his life.

When he requested to see her, he was told that the girl had disappeared, and no one noticed when she left. How could he not be furious?

Did they neglect her because they thought he was the one who saved her?

If he wasn't aware that the girl had already recovered from her fever, he would have probably kicked the responsible doctor and nurse out of the hospital.

Thinking of this, Mu Xingfeng picked up the phone and called Lin Junyang.

On the other end of the line, Lin Junyang, after hearing what Mu Xingfeng said, yelled: "Boss, didn't you go to find her? Why do you need me to investigate? Down to every detail? Boss, let's talk about life. Why are you so concerned about that little girl?"

"To repay a debt."

With that simple phrase, Mu Xingfeng hung up the phone. Listening to the dial tone, Lin Junyang curled his lips. To repay a debt? Need to investigate her ancestors for that?

Three days later, Mu Xingfeng held the information Lin Junyang had collected, gently rubbing the headshot on the document with his thumb.

Meanwhile, news also came from Wang Jianguo. The girl who saved him was now working as a waitress in a restaurant in Nan'an. The team had contacted the restaurant, and as a brave citizen, the Nan'an Guard Team and Nan'an City Government were going to give her a reward.

"Junyang, how much is the team and Nan'an City going to reward her?"

"Huh?" Lin Junyang, who was playing a game, was taken aback by the question: "I heard the team is giving her fifty thousand, and the city is also giving fifty thousand."

"Take fifty thousand from my card and add it to the reward; make it a hundred thousand from the team," said Mu Xingfeng, taking out a card from his wallet and tossing it to Lin Junyang.

Lin Junyang caught the card and glanced at it. "Boss, you don't have any intentions towards that girl, do you?" Otherwise, his actions were really baffling.

"She can't afford to study," Mu Xingfeng still spared words like gold.

"Got it, I'll take care of it."

As Mu Xingfeng's good friend and childhood buddy, Lin Junyang naturally understood his nature. This was repaying the girl for saving his life.

During the investigation, he had already found out that the girl was adopted, and her adoptive family didn't plan to let her continue her college education for the sake of their own child.

Mu Xingfeng wanted to give her the money openly, tell her that he would take responsibility for her and give her a stable life.

But when he thought of the girl's eyes that day, he hesitated again.

Things were still not clear, even if he wanted to, he shouldn't use this as a reason to keep her by his side. Perhaps he should use another method.

"Boss, aren't you going to the commendation ceremony?" Lin Junyang suddenly asked, turning back as he reached the door, a touch of playful mockery in his eyes.

"No," Mu Xingfeng replied expressionlessly.

Lin Junyang scratched his nose, already expecting this result. He had thought that with the addition of the little girl, this commendation ceremony would be different, that it might finally bring this illustrious man onto the podium. It turned out he was overthinking it. This block of wood was only about repaying a debt.
