Chapter 42 -  It Really Is a Murder Case!

By now, the viewers were gradually snapping out of their shock, and a flood of comments swept through the livestream chat like a torrential storm.

"Did I just see that right? That was a body being buried, wasn't it?"

"Are those two the murderers?"

"Holy crap, this is terrifying! They actually recorded a murder scene!"

"Let's think positively—maybe it was a burial?"

"Burial, my ass! That was clearly a murder and body dump!"

"Call the police, report it now!"

"@JinlingPolice, come online!"

"@JinlingPolice!"

The comment section exploded as users began tagging the Jinling police department en masse.

Some even went to the official Jinling Police social media accounts—on Weibo and Douyin—to leave urgent messages.

It worked.

A moment later, a message popped up in the livestream:

[Jinling Police] has entered the livestream.

Lin Xiao: "…"

His mouth twitched hard. These netizens were wild—they actually summoned the cops into the stream.

Of course, he was planning to report it.

This was a serious matter, after all.

And he suspected that the reason the system gave the car an appraisal of 1.1 million yuan above market price was likely due to this very video.

Still, he couldn't quite figure it out.

Even for a murder case, no police reward would be this high.

There had to be some hidden context—something unknown to the public.

[Jinling Police]: Hello, streamer. We've received reports from netizens that the dashcam of your recently purchased vehicle recorded a murder. Can you confirm this?

Lin Xiao responded with a brief explanation of what had just occurred.

[Jinling Police]: Please provide your current location. We will head there immediately.

Lin Xiao gave them his exact location, and the police asked him to remain where he was while they dispatched officers.

"Boss Lin's luck is insane. Buys a used car and ends up uncovering a crime?"

"The odds of this happening are absurd. His luck is ridiculously bad."

"Is this… a haunted car?"

"It's just a coincidence, not like the car's owner committed the crime."

"Boss Lin, can we do the giveaway now?"

"Yes yes yes, giveaway time!"

Lin Xiao replied, "Let's wait a bit. Once the police arrive and this matter is handled, we'll continue."

He was feeling a bit helpless—and also concerned.

He worried that the commotion he had stirred might alert the real culprits. If they got away, wouldn't that be on him?

But at this point, he'd already shown everything. Ending the stream wouldn't make a difference now.

The used car dealer, meanwhile, was stunned by what Lin Xiao had just said.

After a long pause, he asked, "Mr. Lin, did you just say… a murder? And a body dump?"

Lin Xiao pointed to the dashcam. "The footage captured a murder and body being buried. The whole thing's recorded. Though we still need confirmation—police will be here soon to investigate."

But in his heart, Lin Xiao already knew—the person thrown into that pit was definitely dead.

Otherwise, the system wouldn't have given such an insane valuation.

The dealer panicked. "Mr. Lin, this has nothing to do with me, right?!"

Lin Xiao was speechless. Bro, I never said it had anything to do with you.

I'm not even nervous, why are you freaking out?

As time ticked by, just as Lin Xiao expected, the incident exploded across the internet.

"This has to be scripted, right?"

"Scripted, my ass! Who the hell makes fake skits about murder?"

"But we don't know if the person in the video was really dead."

"Boss Lin's luck is off the charts."

"Heard the Jinling police joined the livestream."

"That was hilarious. Over a million viewers spamming @JinlingPolice—what a sight!"

"Go watch now—the cops just showed up!"

A police car pulled up to the used car market. Two young officers, one male and one female, stepped out.

The female officer looked at Lin Xiao and the dealer. "Which one of you is Mr. Lin Xiao?"

"I am," Lin Xiao replied.

She asked, "Where's the dashcam?"

Lin Xiao pointed at the car.

She turned to the dealer. "We need to inspect the footage. Is that okay?"

The dealer said quickly, "The car's already been sold to him—you'll need to ask him."

"No problem," Lin Xiao said. "Take a look."

"Thank you for your cooperation, Mr. Lin," the officer said.

The two officers downloaded the dashcam app, and under Lin Xiao's guidance, they found the footage.

A few minutes later, they finished watching.

The female officer suddenly grew visibly agitated.

"That's him!" she exclaimed.
