At a bar in Foosha Village, a group of pirates could be seen drinking and having fun; at the front of the bar, a 7-year-old boy was sitting. The boy's name was Monkey D. Luffy. Next to him was a man with red hair wearing a straw hat.
"Hey, you should take me on your next adventure, Shanks." "I want to be a pirate like you!" Luffy said with a big smile on his face while looking at the red-haired man named Shanks. Shanks looked up from his food and looked at Luffy, then started laughing.
"Hahahaha! How could you become a pirate?" said Shanks.
"Why can't I?" Luffy asked.
Then a big man who was eating a piece of meat answered his question.
"Listen, Luffy, you may be a good swimmer, but that doesn't mean you can become a great pirate," said Lucky Roo while eating his meat.
"But I'm also a great fighter; my punches are as strong as two guns!" Luffy said while raising his fists. The sight was a funny thing for the pirates.
"Are they really that strong?" said Shanks with a mouthful of food.
"What is the meaning of that question of yours?" Luffy screamed, and Lucky Roo just laughed and spoke.
"That means you are still a child," said Lucky Roo.
"And he really knows that I have a child who is slightly older than you," said Yasopp. Hearing this, Luffy got even angrier, and he shouted at all of them.
"I'm not a child!" "I'm an adult!" he shouted at the top of his lungs. His screams died down when he heard Shanks' voice.
"Here, drink this glass of juice to calm yourself down," said Shanks as he handed a glass of orange juice to Luffy. Luffy's eyes immediately lit up upon seeing it, and a big smile appeared on his face.
"Wow, thanks, Shanks," Luffy said as he drank the juice. While he was drinking it, Shanks looked at Luffy and laughed while banging the table.
"I don't know any pirates who drink juice," said Shanks while laughing.
"That's a dirty trick!" Luffy shouted, making everyone in the bar burst into laughter. "Stop laughing! That's a cheap trick!" Luffy shouted at all the pirates who were there.
While all this was happening, the owner of the bar, Makino, was watching the interaction between Luffy and the pirates with a warm smile on her face. Suddenly, the door in front of her was kicked open.
"Excuse me," said a tall man who was standing in the doorway. At that moment, all the pirates in the bar fell silent and looked toward the door.
The man who led the other group was tall, with dark skin, black hair, a black beard, and an X-shaped gash above his left eye.
He was wearing a long red robe, and under it he wore a white shirt, black pants, and a gold necklace. "So these are the faces of the pirates around here. To be honest, they all look miserable," he said as he walked toward the bar counter and stood beside Shanks.
"Welcome, sir. What can I do for you?" asked Makino.
"We are mountain bandits, but we're not here to make a scene at your place. All we want is a few barrels of sake. Maybe around ten barrels will be enough," he said to Makino.
"I'm sorry, but we've run out of sake at the moment," said Makino. When the mountain bandit said he didn't want to make a scene at the bar, Luffy calmed himself down and turned his attention elsewhere, because he thought the mountain bandit ordering sake was boring.
So he shifted his gaze to his right, where a small chest sat on top of the bar counter. Luffy knew it belonged to Shanks because earlier he had seen Shanks bring the chest inside. His mind quickly began to fill with guesses about what might be inside.
He decided to satisfy his curiosity and opened the chest. The contents turned out to be quite disappointing, because inside was not treasure like Luffy had imagined, but instead a strangely shaped fruit. It was a light blue fruit shaped like a pear but bigger, and strange patterns covered its surface.
At the same time, Luffy's stomach suddenly growled, so he decided to eat the fruit. Because he was Luffy, instead of eating it bit by bit, he immediately stuffed the entire fruit into his mouth and chewed it.
He instantly regretted it, as it was the most unpalatable fruit he had ever eaten, but he did not spit it out and swallowed it anyway. At the same time, after he swallowed the fruit, a loud thumping sound startled him.
When he looked toward the source of the sound, he saw Shanks fall to the floor while the mountain bandit screamed nonsense about having a bounty of eight million belis. Luffy quickly got up and stood on the chair he had been sitting on, then shouted at the bandit.
"Hey, don't bother Shanks!" he shouted at the bandits, and while doing so, he unknowingly emitted a surge of unknown power. When Luffy did this, something strange happened: one by one, the mountain bandits began to faint, and even some of Shanks' weaker crew members also collapsed.
