Chapter 8 -"Garret"
I'm running through the city, another man in front of him running away from atom
Atom: "STOP RUNNING"
The man look behind him to get a better look at me, his hand glowing,
Man: "JUST STOP CHASING ME"
Atom: "can't do that you killed 3 people"
A blast of water shoots at me, the salt causes me to stop to rub my eyes in pain as the killer continues to run. I opens his eyes, which are now Blood shot red
Atom: "SHIT THAT HURT"
Atom continues the chase into an alleyway, it's narrow and the man is standing far enough from him that Atom can't reach him fast enough.
Atom: "this is the end you have no where to run"
Man: "THATS WHERE YOUR WRONG ATOM"
He claps his hands together mama forming at his hands
Man: "ONLY I CAN DECIDE WHEN IM FINISHED"
I get prepared, my hair starts glowing, and getting into a fighting stance. Then a fast stream of water shoots towards me. I try dodging but it hits my shoulder causing blood.
I run toward the man knowing he can't do those streams in succession grabs his face and throws him to the floor.
Man: "hey this wasn't how it was supposed to end"
Atom: "to bad, sometimes you can't choose your fait"
The man's arms fall to the floor in defeat, and I take my hand off his face.
The man lunges at me and sprays more salt water in his eyes, and grabs his knife and stabs me in the stomach.
Man: "wow your really dumb kid, didn't know someone could be so stupid yet so famous"
My leg starts glowing, he kicks the man into a wall causing cracks, and he stands up
Atom: "well I thought I was so famous you knew how strong I was and didn't want to continue"
I pulls the knife out and tosses it aside, I focus all my mana stored in his hair into his hand, the man tries shooting more high pressure water but I send out a blast and disrupts it, and with his other hand i rush at the man and punches him in the face making sure he doesn't over due it, i grab the man's shirt pull him back and punch him again, causing him to get knocked out.
Atom: "you know getting stabbed" Atom falls to the floor "really hurts"
Im now at the tavern bandaged and ready to collect his reward
Barkeep: "hey atom your back already"
Atom: "ya but not without my injuries
I hand her the poster and she hands me quite a few bills but he was only small time so not as much as before
Barkeep: "you really got to stop getting injured, it's not like you can't do it I mean you defeated Daniel and get stabbed by some small time killer, you gotta change something"
Atom: "this time was my fault didn't expect him to use cheap tricks to get a clean shot"
I take the money and start leaving and start walking around shopping, usually this is where the most crime happens, purse snatches, store robberies, other smaller crimes but someone needs to keep them in check.
I walk around for an hour not seeing much of anything, more like nothing at all
Atom: "I think I'm just gonna go and work on my house"
I accidentally bump into some
Atom: "sorry about that man"
???: "don't worry about it"
I get a glimpse of his face, I've seen it before. As he is walking away I pull out my notebook, now I have some of the images from the tavern of the people with bounties. His face, Garret, number 1 on the strength leaderboard, and a bounty of 5000 cash.
I run through the crowd and grab his shoulder. He turns back to me, now I'm confident it's him
Atom: "sir, is your name Garret"
Garret: "listen if your here for my bounty, I don't even want it,
Atom: "it says your there because of thousands of cash in property damage
Garret: "because I can't control"
He pushed my hand off him, what seemed small caused me to fall to the floor. Now people are starting to stare
Atom: "sorry Garret but even if it isn't meant to be there you'll have to come with, we can settle your bounty with the people who made it that high"
Garret: "your lying your just here for my bounty"
Garret turns around and waves his hand, what seemed like a small motion turned the wind to throw me into the stand behind me destroying it and hurting the man running it.
Garret runs into an alleyway. The man running the stand gets up along with me
Atom: "sir are you alright I can get a healer"
The shop owner: "ya I'm fine, your a bounty hunter right, well go get him I can find one my self"
I nod at him before running through the alley, knowing I'm behind I put mama in my legs to increase my speed slightly. When I reach the next street Garret is waiting for me, and punches me in the jaw.
Garret: "stop following me I don't want to hurt you more"
What once again doesn't seem like a strong attack sends me through a wall and dislocates my jaw, the building I end up in is the lobby of a hotel. Before I can question what happened I'm running toward Garret again. I fixed my jaw and noticed Garret running into a crowded area.
Atom: "EVERYONE MOVE OUT THERES A MAN WITH A BOUNTY HERE I NEED YOU ALL TO MOVE"
Some people move but not everyone. I can just see Garret through the people so I start running over dodging people through the crowd. Garret gets off the street and jumps onto a building, I look up at him and his eyes don't show any form of anger at me.
Garret: "I'm sorry bounty hunter but I can't get caught when I just got here"
Garret starts walking down the building, before he gets far be here my hand hit the building, looking back he sees me pull myself up to the building
Atom: "you know you can't just dislocate my jaw and run away from it"
Garret starts running again jumping from building to building
Atom: "WAIT GARRET WE CAN TALK"
he doesn't stop and keeps going
I start chasing after him and jump over 2 buildings.
Atom: "GARRET STOP RIGHT THERE OHH SHIT"
Atom falls face first onto the roof of the building in front of Garret, and continues going until he hits the wall edge of the building
Garret: "you seem like your new to using mana"
Atom: "kinda but you gotta stop running we can talk alright"
Garret thinks about it, he's conflicted, he's sure that atom wants the bounty he gained, but something else he's thinking about makes him want to talk to atom.
Garret: "Alright we can but, it can't be here, we are on a podium presenting myself, if any other bounty hunter is in the area they'll try to get me"
