Chapter 1 - The rebirth

"CRASH! BANG!"

The sounds roared in my ears, pounding against my eardrums in a chaotic symphony. Shrieks of fear, a buzzing static, and then… blackness. Just before everything went dark, I saw blood. So much blood.

How could I die just like that? My team had only just reached fame—only just touched the peak of our career...

Then I fell into darkness. It seemed endless, a void swallowing me whole. My memories flashed before my eyes—the first meeting with my team…

We were in secondary school, all in the same class. Back then, there were ten of us. But one turned against us.

After we graduated together, we thrived, building our company from the ground up.

That enemy… she was always there, standing in our way, but we outsmarted her at every turn.

Her name… what was her name?

Kaline…

Suddenly, my eyes fluttered open.

Light spilled in, flooding my vision.

I covered my eyes for a moment. As I adjusted, I glanced around. I expected the sterile scent of antiseptic, the rhythmic beeping of a hospital monitor. But… no.

What I saw instead was a normal bedroom.

Didn't I… just have a car accident?

I looked around more closely, my confusion growing. This was the room I lived in ten years ago!

Ten years… I counted in disbelief. I was still thirteen!

My heart raced as I jumped out of bed, my feet thudding against the wooden floor. I sprinted to the bathroom and stared into the mirror.

A child's face stared back at me—my face at thirteen!

I'm back!

My fingers trembled as I flipped through the calendar on the wall.

May 28th, 2025.

I'm back!

That means… I've been reborn? After my death… did God give me another chance?

Before I could think much more, my mother appeared in the doorway.

"Darling, go wash up! Your dad will bring you to school soon!"

I turned to look at her.

It was her. My mother, just as she was ten years ago. When she still called me "darling" all the time, when she was so full of life…

"Darling, why are you in a daze?"

I quickly snapped back to reality.

"Ah! Roger that, Mom!"

Soon, I was back on the familiar road to my secondary school—Greenvale Secondary School, just as it had been ten years ago.

The road was so familiar. Lined with patches of grass and buzzing with the sounds of the morning rush. Cars and motorbikes sped past, weaving through the narrow street.

As I took it all in, a thought struck me—

Will I be… seeing them again? And her?

Kaline.

The thought of her made my stomach churn.

No. I have my gang. They're still alive.
