"Captain Beidou, a Sunsettia, a black trench coat, and two single-handed swords. In exchange, I'll take care of this crazy old hag for you. How about it?"
"No. This is my ship. There's no reason to let an outsider step in."
Bai Luo's proposal was tempting.
Whether others knew it or not, both Kazuha and Beidou were certain that if anyone on this ship could stand against Beisht, it would undoubtedly be this ronin who called himself Himura Kenshin.
However, just as she said, the captain's pride would not allow an outsider to meddle in the affairs of the Crux Fleet.
"What if I were to say... that this Beisht creature came looking for me?"
Bai Luo raised his head, looking at Beisht who was still roaring at him as he spoke.
Others couldn't hear it, but he could hear it clearly.
Beisht's roar was distinctly a name.
"Morax!"
"Looking for you?"
Beidou gave Bai Luo a suspicious look. She felt this fellow must be lying.
But the quality of his lie was somewhat lacking. Why not just say you're a friend of Morax?
"That's right. This Beisht was originally the wife of the Overlord of the Vortex, Osial. After Osial was suppressed by the Geo Archon, she has harbored a grudge. Unfortunately... for certain reasons, I bear a contract from the Geo Archon. Perhaps she was drawn here by the contract upon my person."
What Bai Luo said was his own speculation.
The three-day contract with the Geo Archon had already vanished. The old man should be fighting Tartaglia by now.
Unfortunately, the contract of the three moves still remained.
It seemed the loophole he had found wasn't big enough. He would have to continue his research later and strive to find a loophole every time.
"If we're talking about the Geo Archon's contracts, then of course we Liyue people bear far more. From large business transactions to small verbal promises, we carry countless contracts every day. You want to compare with us?"
Beidou glanced at Bai Luo and said dismissively.
An Inazuman wants to compete with us Liyue folk when it comes to contracts?
Who's closer to Rex Lapis, you or us?
"But... the contract I made was with the Geo Archon himself. It should be different from yours."
Bai Luo said with a very troubled expression.
Beidou beside him appeared calm, but inside, a storm was raging.
To sign a contract with the Geo Archon, one must at least meet the Geo Archon first. He... has met the Geo Archon?
Beidou hadn't forgotten why Himura Kenshin was on her ship. It was precisely because she and Ningguang considered this kid a dangerous element that he had to be sent to Inazuma to wreak havoc on the Raiden Shogun.
And now he was actually admitting he had met the Geo Archon?
"When did you meet the Geo Archon?"
According to their intelligence, this Himura Kenshin had appeared suddenly on the streets of Liyue. Their spies couldn't even find out how he had entered the city.
So they had assumed he had mixed in with a group of Fatui to enter Liyue.
Now it seemed... after he entered Liyue, something must have happened that they didn't know about.
"I met him right after entering Liyue. He is a very gentle being. I even treated him to a cup of tea."
Bai Luo wasn't stupid. All of Liyue were fans of the Geo Archon. If he said he had injured the Geo Archon, he would probably be washed clean and delivered directly to the Geo Archon's doorstep.
He couldn't go back at a time like this.
Beidou's thoughts were somewhat similar to his.
"Could this kid have hurt the Emperor and is in a hurry to leave because he's afraid the Emperor will come after him?"
But she quickly dismissed this idea.
Kaedehara Kazuha had told them countless times about the specific process of how Himura Kenshin had injured the Raiden Shogun.
The Raiden Shogun, being overconfident, had intended to take one of the Battousai's moves head-on.
She had never expected the Battousai's techniques to be different from others, not originating from Inazuman swordsmanship, and thus the Raiden Shogun was caught off guard and injured.
Their Rex Lapis was known for his maturity and stability. There was absolutely no possibility of him standing still and letting someone slash at him.
Plus, he had been wandering the streets of Liyue for so long, and neither the Emperor nor the adepti had troubled him. He didn't seem like someone who had injured the Geo Archon at all.
He couldn't have signed a contract with the Emperor stating that the Emperor couldn't harm him, right?
Was the Geo Archon that foolish?
"Are you confident?"
Through her scattered hair, Beidou's remaining eye stared intently at Bai Luo as she asked.
"Taking one of its heads will not be a problem."
Bai Luo held his sword and said with great confidence.
With the Kuzuryūsen and the Fire of the Earth's Core, he didn't believe he couldn't take off one of Beisht's heads.
True damage was no joke.
"More importantly, I've realized that I can understand her language. Perhaps I can use this as an opportunity to communicate with her and save you all."
If he could only sever one of Beisht's heads, Beidou would certainly not have let him act so easily.
But the words Bai Luo spoke next moved Beidou.
"Just a Sunsettia, a black trench coat, and two single-handed swords, correct?"
After a moment of contemplation, Beidou raised her head to confirm.
She could understand the latter items, but what was with the Sunsettia? Did this man have a habit of eating something before a fight?
"If possible, please also prepare a small boat. I have not yet acquired the ability to travel on water, so..."
Bai Luo said with a hint of embarrassment.
He wondered when he would be able to draw a profession that could fly or walk on water. Otherwise, having to row a boat to fight a boss was just too immersion-breaking.
"I will have it prepared for you, Mr. Himura."
These were not difficult matters for Beidou.
Especially the single-handed swords. Since she had a blacksmith on her ship, there were plenty of fine single-handed swords.
In other words, the price she was paying was completely disproportionate to the result Bai Luo was promising.
The Alcor became busy again, but this time it wasn't busy sending people away, but searching for the things Bai Luo needed.
"A Sunsettia! Don't we have a single Sunsettia on our ship?"
"Captain, there are some in the warehouse, but it's that very sour crate. I'm afraid..."
"Then keep looking!"
"Yes!"
Compared to the bustling crew, Bai Luo was much quieter.
He stood on the deck, watching Beisht, who was continuously roaring the name "Morax," and pondering his strategy.
The conditions given by the system were still an unknown. He had to test them out as soon as possible.
For example... by trying to take off one of her heads first?
"Mr. Himura."
Kazuha had appeared behind Bai Luo at some point, his helpless expression truly heartbreaking.
He once had a cherished best friend, but for the sake of his ideals, for the sake of everyone's wishes, he had died before the Raiden Shogun.
And now... he had only just started to consider Himura Kenshin his best friend for a few days, and yet he was about to do the same thing as the last one.
Why did it have to be him?
Why did everyone he considered a best friend have to do such things?
Bai Luo said nothing, but took out a broken blade from within his long robes.
"This is..."
Looking at the familiar tachi, Kaedehara Kazuha was slightly stunned.
The once-dim masterless Vision on his person showed faint signs of lighting up.
But it only flickered for a moment before quickly subsiding.
