Chapter 313: The Era of the Douluo God Realm – Part III: Mythology

Every God King has their own unique path to cultivation, and so Ye Wen could only feel his way forward, like a blind man touching an elephant. But with no immediate crises at hand, Ye Wen set aside his training to focus on resolving the issues plaguing Douluo Star.

This state of disrepair troubled him he regretted not having his spiritual projection intervene more actively, which had allowed others to sow disorder. Thankfully, the damage was not irreparable; as long as he could remove the diseased parts of Douluo Star, recovery was possible.

No matter how wise a life form is, corruption will always creep in over time. Ye Wen now felt conflicted about his former allies, like the once loyal Merfolk.

"Hait, can I still trust your people?"

Ye Wen's disappointed voice made Chief Hait of the Merfolk feel as if he'd fallen into an icy pit. Panicked, he knelt down, trembling.

"Please, grant our clan one more chance. I, Hait, vow that the Merfolk's loyalty will be restored."

Ye Wen looked at him with a penetrating gaze before turning away. "Then prove it this time. I don't usually give traitors a second chance."

Despite the coldness of Ye Wen's voice, Chief Hait felt a wave of relief. His heart, pounding with anxiety moments before, finally began to calm.

Once he was alone, a fierce light crept into Hait's eyes. "Those wretched little fish! I've worked tirelessly to secure a better future for our people, and they dare to hinder me?!"

With eyes turning bloodshot, Hait's killing intent surged. "Just wait you'll all pay for this!"

Although the Merfolk population remained sparse, in such a time of crisis, Chief Hait decided he would sacrifice anything necessary to protect his people's position in Ye Wen's favor. If that meant strict discipline, so be it.

In the meantime, corrupt groups without god level backers faced true calamity. The Merfolk, usually content with an idle, bribery driven lifestyle, suddenly became relentless enforcers. Within a month, the Holy Soul Empire's bureaucratic culture had undergone a dramatic transformation.

When the god level elites gathered again as scheduled, Ye Wen said little, casting a cold gaze over them, a look that made even the guilty feel their hearts pounding, fearing more wrath.

But little did they know Ye Wen wasn't omniscient he had simply learned over the years that those in power could never give their subordinates too much leniency, or they'd push their limits.

Now, the Holy Soul Empire looked much like it did before Ye Wen's ascension. While not perfectly honest, it was a vast improvement, with the people's happiness rising significantly. And Ye Wen knew this after all, their faith power had surged considerably in the past month.

Satisfied that the atmosphere was right, Ye Wen began today's meeting.

"I am planning to write a continuation to The Mythology of Douluo: the New Era."

At these words, although some leaders remained anxious, they couldn't help feeling excited. At their level, they were well aware of Ye Wen's methods for gathering faith power. His original Douluo Mythology had granted Ye Wen an immense source of belief, even bestowing several divine roles upon his closest allies and disciples.

"So, to create this new mythology, each of you who has obtained a divine role must submit a brief report. I'll personally compose the new mythos."

Ye Wen added a note of caution. "Keep in mind that certain divine roles will yield limited faith power due to their nature, meaning you will have to rely on personal cultivation. Only by reaching a stage of independently generating divine power can you aim for higher realms."

The god level elites, understanding his warning well, all nodded in agreement.

Ye Wen went on to outline other adjustments necessary for the Holy Soul Empire's development. He also revealed plans to expand resource extraction from the Sun Moon Continent and the northern lands of the Holy Soul Continent to prepare for a certain project.

The sharper among them already had an inkling of Ye Wen's intentions, though they kept their thoughts to themselves, opting instead to carry out his orders alongside the other god level leaders. The increased demand for metal led to a significant rise in material prices, bringing prosperity to many.

Over the following months, Ye Wen implemented additional reforms. His frequent meetings with top elites also became widely known among the common people of Douluo Star. Rather than restricting this information, Ye Wen allowed it to spread.

News of Ye Wen's return as the Eternal King soon ignited the public's enthusiasm. Not privy to the secrets of god level beings, they viewed him as the Sea God and Creator of Douluo, the benevolent and supreme ruler who had ushered their world into this new era. Although Douluo Star still faced challenges and inequalities, the people saw this as an improvement compared to the dark days of the feudal empires of Tian Dou and Xing Luo.

The wave of faith that stemmed from their gratitude made Ye Wen feel like it was a holiday. Faith power, after all, was best inspired from the heart; routine worship only went so far.

Ye Wen soon published The Book of Genesis: New Era, a sequel to Douluo Mythology, written with a structure similar to the Investiture of the Gods rich with story and intrigue, the book quickly became a bestseller.

One of the main figures was Ning Fengzhi, now known as the God of Blessings, whose divine role resonated strongly with humanity's desire for fortune. Given that everyone wanted good luck, Ning Fengzhi's role made him a major beneficiary of the new mythos.

As time passed, the new mythology took root among the people, and Ye Wen set another major reform in motion. The traditional Spirit Hall worship structure was now outdated, so he transformed it into the Hall of Gods.

The Hall honored all gods with divine roles on Douluo Star, though prominent figures like Ye Wen and Bibi Dong were simply inscribed by title, categorized by their divine rank, and worshiped alongside others by the people of Douluo.

Almost a year later, Ye Wen officially inaugurated the Era of the Gods.

With the revelation that achieving godhood was possible through cultivation, a fervent wave of training swept across Douluo Star.

Now, people understood: godhood wasn't out of reach.
