Chapter 316: The Era of the Douluo God Realm – Part VI: Revelation
Na'er's reaction jolted Ye Wen back to his senses. Embarrassed, he quickly turned around and shut the door behind him.
Despite his century old age, Ye Wen couldn't help feeling utterly flustered. That's my adopted daughter, he chided himself, how could I even entertain such thoughts?!
However, he reminded himself that Na'er was no longer a child; she had become a powerful, mature god level warrior capable of standing on her own. Her needs were natural, just like any adult's.
Awkwardly scratching his head, he sent a message through the door. "Sorry, Na'er. I heard your voice and thought you were in trouble. You're an adult now, so... you don't have to feel embarrassed. It was all my fault. Take it easy; I'll leave you to rest." And with that, he quickly left, retreating from Na'er's room as if running for his life.
Moments later, Na'er peeked out from under her blanket, her expression a mix of resentment and something else a slight glint of emotion that was hard to identify. In her mind, she was silently chastising Ye Wen.
Later that day, Ye Wen found himself repeatedly distracted by the image of Na'er from earlier, trying in vain to clear his head. Eventually, he resorted to slapping himself twice.
"Forget about it, forget about it," he muttered. "How did I end up walking in on her like that? I hope Na'er doesn't hold it against me…"
That evening, Ye Wen and his family gathered for dinner as usual. Stealing a few glances at Na'er, he saw her eating calmly, her elegant demeanor completely unaffected by the day's events. Relieved, he thought, Thank goodness. If word got around the family, I'd lose all face.
However, the more Ye Wen tried to push the memory away, the more vividly it replayed in his mind. It was as though his imagination had taken a magnifying glass to that one moment.
I'm incorrigible, he thought, feeling deeply frustrated with himself.
He failed to notice that Bibi Dong had been observing him with a knowing glint in her eye. Formerly the Rakshasa God, she was now the Goddess of Desire.
Something amusing must have happened; it's rare to see Wen this conflicted, she thought, a faint smile playing on her lips. She chose to remain silent, curious to see how events would unfold.
Later that night, Ye Wen made his way to Gu Yuena's room, where he'd been spending most of his time recently. His other wives had no objections, knowing that Gu Yuena, the newly added member of the family, hadn't yet received the same love and attention. Rebuilding a bond with her made sense, and there was no jealousy among them. They understood that passion was fleeting, but their century of companionship was what truly tied them together.
As Ye Wen looked at Gu Yuena, whose face resembled Na'er's by eight or nine points, his desire flared up anew. His mind clouded, he channeled his fervor into Gu Yuena, who accepted his intensity with equal passion, indulging in his every whim.
Dragons were naturally uninhibited, and Gu Yuena welcomed Ye Wen's intensity, even relishing it. But just as Ye Wen was about to be swept away completely, he pulled himself back, choosing not to lose himself entirely.
After a deep kiss, he placed a gentle kiss on her smooth forehead and covered her with a blanket, reigning in his emotions just in time.
Yet, as Ye Wen tried to sleep, the image of Na'er kept surfacing, fanning the flames within him once more. What's wrong with me? he thought, frustrated. Why does that memory keep coming back, teasing me?
Unable to calm his mind, he quietly got out of bed, intending to take a walk in the courtyard, hoping the vast night sky would soothe his restless thoughts. But just as he was about to step outside, he heard that familiar, muffled sound again the same voice as before.
Ye Wen stopped, his expression darkening.
It's all in your head, he told himself, it's just an illusion, a trick of the mind.
But at his level, Ye Wen knew he could distinguish real sounds from imaginary ones. Finally, concern got the better of him, breaking down the last of his resolve.
What if Na'er really is in trouble? I'll just take a quick look, nothing more, he assured himself, moving silently toward Na'er's room. He approached her door with quiet footsteps, peeking in through a narrow gap.
What he saw made his eyes widen in shock.
In the dim light, Na'er's gaze met his, her violet eyes glistening in the darkness, unmistakably locking with his. She appeared startled, her expression tinged with a raw vulnerability as two tears slipped down her cheeks. In an instant, she grabbed a blanket, pulling it up to shield herself.
How did she sense me? Ye Wen wondered. I was using God King level concealment!
In Ye Wen's understanding, Na'er had only reached the level of a divine officer. He had no suitable divine role for her, so although Na'er's talents placed her among the top three of his children, she had remained stuck at that level. Yet her reaction suggested otherwise.
But as Ye Wen processed the moment, he noticed a deeper sense of regret and sorrow in Na'er's eyes, emotions far beyond mere embarrassment.
Confused and concerned, he felt something must be seriously wrong with her.
Quietly, he pushed the door open and shut it behind him, leaving the room in darkness as he walked over to sit at the edge of Na'er's bed.
Gently patting the blanket over her, he spoke softly.
"Na'er, is something troubling you? Talk to your father."
But Na'er, usually sweet and obedient, lay in silence under the blanket, only moving her head slightly to shake off his hand.
Ye Wen sighed. So she's hitting her rebellious phase this late, huh? he thought, resisting the urge to pressure her. He ran his hand gently over her head, whispering tenderly.
"We're family, Na'er. If something's wrong, you can tell me."
But in truth, Ye Wen already had his suspicions.
As one of the few god level beings on Douluo Star, and his adopted daughter, there was hardly anyone who would dare harm her. That left only one possibility his wife, Gu Yuena, the Silver Dragon King.
Ye Wen's eyes hardened.
He didn't know what Gu Yuena had done, but if it left his daughter in such a state, it was unacceptable.
