Chapter 325: The Era of the Douluo God Realm – Part XV: Conquering the Demon Star
The arrival of the Sea King had not gone unnoticed by the Keji Empire. As the most powerful empire on Demon Star, Keji's capital boasted three sorcerer sages and two saint level warriors, half of Demon Star's strongest forces. Ye Wen targeted this empire first, knowing that defeating it would lay the groundwork for controlling the entire planet.
Keji Sakote, the chief sage of Demon Star and its most powerful being, had been alive for over a thousand years, though he was still trapped at the semi divine level, unable to reach true godhood. When the Sea King cast its shadow over Demon Star, Sakote emerged from his tower, warily eyeing the scarlet glow above.
"What immense and ominous power... what is that?" he muttered, sensing the strange and overwhelming aura.
Alarmed, Sakote quickly issued orders to prepare for whatever threat lay ahead. But even he was unprepared for the powerful forces descending on his empire.
Ye Wen and his elite warriors made no attempt at stealth. Their arrival was a show of force: each of Ye Wen's warriors possessed a power level that, at minimum, rivaled Demon Star's ninth tier elite fighters. Their collective pressure instantly blanketed Keji's capital, sending shockwaves across the empire and leaving Sakote visibly shaken.
"What… what is this power?" he murmured in shock, barely able to react before two blood red armored Title Douluos appeared before him.
"Keji Sakote, Demon Star's highest ranked warrior, do you intend to resist?" one of the Douluos asked coldly.
Sakote's instincts kicked in, and he immediately tried to cast a no chant spell to immobilize his opponents. However, the mention of "Sea God King" stopped him cold. The faint but undeniable trace of divine power in the Douluo's voice struck him with an overwhelming sense of dread, paralyzing his spirit.
"Your fate is already sealed," continued the second Douluo. "But your strength has earned you a chance. Swear fealty, and you may be granted an audience with the supreme Sea God King."
The name Sea God King made Sakote's eyes light up, his breaths coming fast. "The Sea God King... a true god... an immortal god?" he asked eagerly, his voice betraying years of frustrated ambition.
The first Douluo's expression darkened, his voice icy. "Watch your tone, native of Demon Star! Address him as His Majesty the Sea God King, or suffer the consequences! If not for His Majesty seeing potential in you, you'd already be dead."
Sakote felt a surge of rage and embarrassment as the Douluo's words cut into him, reminding him of the humiliating deference he now owed. Yet, as a seasoned warrior and leader, he stifled his pride, knowing these strangers held his life in their hands. He gritted his teeth, hiding his true feelings and biding his time.
"Very well," he thought. "One day, I'll make them pay for this."
Under the escort of the two Douluos, Sakote found himself brought before Ye Wen himself. Seeing the man before him, Sakote's long standing ambition surged forward, and he immediately knelt, offering a gesture of submission.
"Keji Sakote, rise," Ye Wen said indifferently.
Sakote stood with an obedient posture, his back slightly bent. Ye Wen barely regarded him, signaling his two Douluos with a dismissive wave. "You've secured some merit already, but head back down. The rewards you seek are only earned in the heat of battle."
The two Douluos saluted and dove back into the smoky, war ravaged capital.
Turning to Sakote, Ye Wen wasted no time with formalities. "Do you wish to become a god?"
This simple question struck Sakote to the core, crumbling the last of his pride. He dropped to his knees again, pressing his forehead to the ground as he nearly begged, "Great Sea God King, grant me your divine mercy! I've spent my life striving for godhood. I'll fulfill any demand if you offer me this chance."
"Good," Ye Wen responded, eyes flashing. "Complete the task I give you, and I'll grant you the qualification to ascend." What Sakote didn't realize, however, was that the true cost of immortality the divine power required to sustain it would be left entirely up to him. The king had no idea what a long, laborious path lay ahead of him.
Ye Wen issued his command. Sakote would gather the powerful forces of the Keji Empire and begin the unification of Demon Star. Ye Wen's goal was clear: faith. The unification of Demon Star under one empire would facilitate the spread of belief far more than scattered nations. And if faith waned and society fell into disarray, there were always ways to incite the populace back into reverence for a powerful deity.
The question of whether his methods were humane barely crossed Ye Wen's mind. Though the Demon Star's people looked human, the planetary laws and their inherent essence made them fundamentally different, separated by eons of evolution.
Still, Ye Wen had outlined a governance plan for those who were strong enough and willing to submit to the new order: they could become part of Douluo's soul master elite. In time, Ye Wen envisioned an endless supply of warriors across realms who would elevate Douluo to an unprecedented era of strength.
Under his command, Sakote set out to demonstrate his loyalty, swiftly becoming a diligent and efficient guide for Douluo's forces. Ye Wen, watching from above, thought of the many times in his former life he'd condemned those who conquered others. Yet now, in power himself, he found there was a certain ruthless logic to it all. Humans would always be driven by desire, whether to hate, understand, or conquer.
And this realization echoed in every victory he now orchestrated, every star he sought to claim.
