Chapter 339: The Douluo God Realm Era Part XXIX: Dragon God
Within the realm of the Dimensional Awareness Space
Ever since Ye Wen had established the new Douluo God Realm, the world consciousness had been positively ecstatic. With the god realm in place, Douluo Star no longer drained itself of its vital energy. Instead, it was flourishing, constantly strengthening, with its ecosystem and life potential steadily expanding. At this rate, Douluo might not become a divine star in the next ten thousand years, but it would still undergo a profound transformation.
Gone were the days when ten innate soul power levels were the standard for genius. In this new age filled with gods, only those born with twenty innate levels of soul power could claim true talent, without even requiring divine blessings. This shift alone showed how prosperous Douluo Star had become no longer just an insignificant planet vulnerable to any god who might come along.
But within this cheerful atmosphere, the world consciousness suddenly froze, its face pale with shock.
"This energy…!"
It recognized this energy all too well, a signature so deeply imprinted into its essence that it elicited both dread and rage.
"Dragon God !"
But things had changed. The world consciousness was no longer defenseless. As it tracked this familiar yet loathed presence approaching the heart of the Douluo God Realm, it realized with growing fury how recklessly the Dragon God was making his way toward its core.
"Still as arrogant as ever, I see," it seethed.
Unable to face the Dragon God directly, the world consciousness took the most sensible course of action it called for backup. Immediately, it informed Ye Wen of the Dragon God's arrival through Snow Empress.
"Dragon God?" Ye Wen was taken aback. How had this old menace resurfaced?
He only knew a few scraps of information about the Dragon God from vague snippets he'd read, such as how the Dragon God hadn't truly died but instead split its body to create two new beings: the Golden Dragon King and the Silver Dragon King. The remnants of the Dragon God's original consciousness had supposedly retreated into the depths of the cosmos, eventually passing its godly power to the protagonist of a future generation.
Though the Dragon God's title as "King of Kings" indicated supreme power, it was likely only at the pinnacle of godhood or a half step into a realm beyond the known god level. Ye Wen was aware that the Dragon God was potentially a great threat, but the vastness of the cosmos made tracking it an impossible task. He had thus opted to ignore the Dragon God's existence.
But this mighty being had now emerged from the shadows, prompting Ye Wen to raise the alarm, alerting all the divine level warriors on Douluo Star. While none of them could directly challenge such a force, they prepared to protect their world from the devastation that a battle of this scale would bring.
Approaching the Douluo God Realm, the Dragon God noticed the stir its presence had caused.
"Already discovered?" It mused, surprised that its carefully concealed approach had been detected so quickly.
Uncertain how the gods of this young realm could have noticed it, the Dragon God knew that stealth was now useless. Its true form appeared a long, western style dragon whose translucent scales gleamed with a soft yet imposing rainbow glow. While slender and graceful, its armored scales emitted a sense of raw power, each one fitting harmoniously to form a creature both majestic and terrifying.
In a sudden, blinding flash, twelve figures clad in grand, ceremonial armor surrounded the Dragon God the twelve god kings of Douluo Star. Ye Wen had summoned them all, including Na'er. After a swift telepathic update, he explained the truth about the Dragon God's actions.
Na'er was stunned. She had long abandoned her childish dream of reviving the Dragon God, but learning the truth filled her with disgust. She finally saw how the Dragon God had created both her and the Golden Dragon King as scapegoats, callously abandoning his body to let them bear the blame for his failures.
"Madness," she thought, feeling only anger.
Not only had the Dragon God disregarded her as an individual, but he had also sacrificed countless loyal dragon souls, leaving the soul beasts and their gods to fend for themselves. Na'er was ready to end this self serving god's legacy once and for all.
Though Ye Wen had previously ensured that no part of the Dragon God's will lingered within Na'er, he positioned her in a supporting role. As master of the Douluo God Realm, Ye Wen narrowed his gaze, his aura radiating unmistakable hostility.
"Dragon God, you abandoned this world long ago. What do you want here now?"
The Dragon God detected a hint of knowledge in Ye Wen's words, but dismissed it. Instead, it observed the gods around it with an almost paternal gaze. With a flick of its tail, its nine colored scales flashed brightly. The sight of this brilliant transformation set the gathered gods on edge. The Dragon God's reputation as the mightiest god king was not an idle claim.
"Super Divine Skill: Transcendental Shift!" Ye Wen acted swiftly, transporting everyone to a distant part of the cosmos, far from the Douluo Star to minimize any collateral damage.
While the Dragon God sensed Ye Wen's skill, he did nothing to stop it, waiting until they were millions of miles away in a vast, empty stretch of space. The gods maintained a guarded stance, ready to strike but aware that the Dragon God seemed unwilling to fight just yet.
"So, are you going to tell us why you've come back?" Ye Wen asked.
The Dragon God finally took a good look at Ye Wen, studying him carefully.
"You're young," he said with a tone that conveyed both recognition and dismissal.
The gods flanking Ye Wen took this as an insult to their revered leader. Despite the immense power of the being before them, they felt nothing but loyalty to Ye Wen, Douluo Star's savior and their benefactor. Sensing their anger, each god summoned their divine aura, determined to protect their god king.
"How terrifying…" The Dragon God chuckled, his tone mockingly fearful.
