Chapter 412: Extermination Battle · Nine
Uchiha Izuna watched intently as Gamamaru fused with the massive Rock Dwelling Toad. While he could sense Gamamaru's deviousness, this world ultimately valued strength above all else; no matter how many masks Gamamaru wore, a single defeat would mean total loss.
Despite the Rock Dwelling Toad's terrifyingly formidable defenses, Uchiha Madara's Susano'o blades were anything but dull. Within a minute of combat, the Rock Dwelling Toad's body was covered in slash marks. Although no blood flowed, its complete defeat was merely a matter of time.
Gamamaru had thought that manifesting Susano'o in this form would weaken Madara's strength, but to his dismay, it was only slightly less powerful than the armored version.
"I can't keep this up. I need to escape," Gamamaru thought, and with a burst of desperation, he lunged forward and headbutted Madara.
"A desperate struggle!"
Madara was unfazed, sneering as he accelerated his twin blade attacks.
"Sage Art: Earth Reversal!"
Gamamaru clasped his hands together and leapt, smashing down to the ground. This seemingly simple move unleashed a tremendous effect.
In an instant, a violent earthquake erupted, causing Madara's Susano'o to stagger.
However, with his extensive combat experience, Madara quickly grew wings on Susano'o, allowing him to fly above the shaking ground.
"So, this old toad still has a few tricks up his sleeve."
But the jutsu's impact didn't stop there; the powerful tremors even affected the distant Han Realm army, weakening their barrier.
The next second, the barrier shattered.
From afar, Uchiha Izuna's eyes showed a trace of disdain.
Despite possessing such strength, Gamamaru had put on a show, pretending to let his people escape while he stayed behind. If not for Madara's exceptional power, he would have been deceived, forced to kill Gamamaru's true body to prevent exposure of this ruse.
Unfortunately, the old toad's power was clearly insufficient.
Floating mid air, Uchiha Madara frowned. Although this move had no effect on him, it had disrupted the overall plan.
"Izuna!"
Madara called out, and Uchiha Izuna instantly understood, a confident smile curling at his lips.
"Leave it to me, brother!"
The objective of this operation was the complete extermination of the Myoboku Mountain toad clan, leaving none alive.
Izuna knew Gamamaru had understood their intent and was attempting to create chaos as a means to escape.
However
In the face of absolute power, all schemes were futile.
Izuna interlocked his fingers.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
In an instant, Izuna split into five, and the next second, each clone summoned a massive Susano'o and flew toward the distant perimeter.
"Four Red Yang Formation!"
This formidable barrier, which typically required four Kage level shinobi to erect, was now established by Izuna alone.
His true body joined the siege as well, and the fully formed Susano'o, far more terrifying than any modern Uchiha could wield, made everyone on the battlefield tense.
"Worthless."
Izuna cast a cold glance at the Han Realm army and his younger clan members. His gentleness belonged solely to Uchiha Madara.
"Next."
Izuna's gaze swept over the battered toads with a merciless killing intent. "I'll be your opponent."
Raising his Susano'o's hands, Izuna summoned nine Yasaka Magatama, hurling them directly at the toad clan.
In the face of such overwhelming power, the once dominant toads of the ninja world quickly fell, with casualties mounting fast.
As he observed the two remaining, gravely injured sages, Izuna's eyes flashed with disdain.
"Itachi, these two still have some research value. Seal them and bring them back."
The terror of this ancestor had already crushed the pride within the hearts of the three modern Mangekyo Sharingan users.
With practiced ease, Uchiha Itachi wielded his Totsuka Blade, sealing the two elder toads into an eternal illusion.
Meanwhile, Madara's battle was drawing to a close.
Gamamaru had triggered the earthquake earlier to create a distraction, hoping to slip away amid the chaos.
Though the Three Great Sage Regions each had their own distinct jutsu specialties, they varied in elemental affinity. Shikkotsu Forest leaned toward water, where failed jutsu would result in melting into a pool of decay.
Myoboku Mountain leaned toward earth, and failed jutsu would lead to petrification.
As for Ryuchi Cave, it too had some earth affinity, but its serpents focused on the physical transformation of dragonification. Failure in this pursuit left them in monstrous forms, and if they lost rationality, they would be devoured by the cave's sages.
A master of earth and stone, Gamamaru had hoped to use Earth Release techniques to escape.
But Madara, predicting his intentions, had sent Izuna to block any gaps while he engaged Gamamaru directly, preventing him from utilizing any earth based escape.
"Uchiha Madara, spare me! I can give you whatever you want," Gamamaru pleaded.
Madara sneered, continuing his assault with disdain.
"I'm not lying! I've been laying plans in the ninja world for a thousand years, and I've gathered countless treasures. Eternal life, rare jutsu, forbidden secrets whatever you desire, I can give it to you."
Seeing Madara unmoved, Gamamaru revealed his final card.
But Madara only responded with scorn. "Frog in a well."
Several of Madara's previous strikes had landed in the same spot, revealing Gamamaru's flesh beneath the thick rock.
It was time to end this farce.
Madara's eyes glinted coldly as he channeled his Susano'o and energy into a single longsword, which erupted into blazing flames.
"It's over! Secret Art: Uchiha Style Kenjutsu Burning Slash!"
Without hesitation, he struck the fatal wound, and searing flames spread from the gash, consuming Gamamaru's body.
"Ahhhh!!!"
The agonized screams could be faintly heard for miles around.
After a long while, the tortured cries finally subsided, leaving only a charred form standing on the scorched earth.
Staring at Gamamaru's lifeless body, Madara's Rinnegan narrowed, scrutinizing intently.
"A thousand year old toad indeed," Madara remarked in awe.
But in the next instant, his gaze turned icy, and he swung his blade without hesitation.
"Ah "
A faint, almost imperceptible cry echoed briefly before fading away.
"Did you think hiding your soul would fool me? I wield the Rinnegan as well."
