"Seems you're forgetting that this baby is almost going to be my child too. And besides, who exactly are you serving? Aren't I your friend?" Kaelith muttered, cheeks puffed out as he pouted in visible annoyance.
Jaden let out a long, weary sigh, his gaze drifting toward the door before he finally spoke. "Look, let's settle the interview first. When that's done, then we'll sort out this matter properly."
Kaelith gave a reluctant nod, and Jaden continued with quiet firmness. "We're going to the clinic first, then afterward, we'll head to the interview."
"Why not the interview first?" Kaelith asked, tilting his head with suspicion.
"So that we give ourselves the chance to believe you aren't pregnant," Jaden explained patiently. "That way, we can say we only stopped by the clinic quickly before going straight for the interview. It buys us a little doubt and peace of mind."
Kaelith finally nodded in acceptance, even if he wasn't entirely convinced.
