It took a while to convince him. After all, he was the kind of man who even rejected her when Simon was striking the deal. He would rather have a gardener than have her as a woman, even a plaything and when she knew about that. She remembered how angry she was.
That time, the fact that Simon sold her wasn't as hurtful as knowing that Xander rejected her. It made her question life and whether she was so undesirable that no man would even want to be with her.
But then the deities came to her aid. She had that nightmare and learnt about so many things that made her shudder whenever she thinks about them even now.
Equipped with the knowledge form that nightmare, she was able to convince Xander to marry her although until now she hasn't planted the flower of life that Xander wanted.
Although she didn't know why he wanted it or who he was going to use it on, she was going to plant and nurture that flower for him. That was a promise she made.
