The moment Lila stepped out of the castle, her racing heart that had caused her to feel extremely nervous finally calmed down. She took in a sharp deep breath before boarding a carriage back to the village square.
On reaching the market square, she got down from the carriage and paid the Coachman. After paying him some coins, she began to walk inside the market as though she wanted to buy something.
While she was walking, she suddenly stopped walking as of remembering something.
"Oh no, I forgot to ask the king about that new shop. Oh my God, what was I thinking?" She shook her head violently and frustratedly.
"Now she'd have to go back to the castle, but not today anymore. " She thought and kept on walking until she saw Evelyn from afar.
Her happy expression suddenly turned sour and bitter when she saw her sister.
What was her sister doing here when it's almost night time? She mused and rushed to meet her sister.
Meanwhile,
Evelyn was busy buying some vegetables and onions. After buying them, she paid the man and turned around to leave when she almost bumped on lila.
Lila had planned to scare her sister but failed cause Eve had turned back and bumped on her causing the basket of vegetables and onions to fall on the ground.
"I'm sorry!" Eve said apologetically until she looked up and saw it was Lila.
"Lila!!" She said calmly.
"I'm sorry for scaring you that way, it wasn't my intention to get you frightened. " Lila said softly looking down.
"It's fine, by the way, where were you and where did you go? I was looking for you to follow me to the market. " Evelyn said calmly with a concerned frown.
"Oh, nevermind I was trying to think straight. Pardon me. But don't worry, tomorrow I will follow you to the market. " Lila said enthusiastically.
"It's fine, let's go home. I will collect money again to get some more. " Evelyn said pulling Lila's hand.
Lila smiled allowing Evelyn to hold her.
They walked back home and on reaching home,
"Lila! ! ! " Her mother called out walking towards them from the kitchen.
Mama, what's wrong? Lila asked her heart started racing tensely. Did the vampire came to visit her mother? She thought but quickly shook her head. That can't be possible especially when it's just afternoon, close to evening.
"Where did you go leaving your sister to go the market all alone?" Her mother asked sternly.
"I'm sorry mum, it won't happen again. " She apologized looking down. She didn't have the courage to tell her mother where she had gone. It would be such a disaster in the family. She was already feeling extremely guilty for visiting the castle especially now that the king wants to know everything about her family apart from the village town.
"It's fine. But make sure to be careful, this town is no longer safe again especially with vampires lurking around. " Her mother said in a gentle tone and she nodded.
"By the way, where is the vegetables?" Mrs Fraser asked with a raised brow.
"Uhm, that's why I came back. We came back to get more coins caus the foodstuffs poured on the floor and got mixed with dirts. " Evelyn said calmly looking down fiddling with her fingers.
"Oh no, and your father wants to eat some veggies. Quickly go and get it before night time. " Mrs Fraser said dipping her hands in her pocket to bring out some coins and handed it over to Evelyn.
Evelyn took it and left to get the vegetables and onions. The moment she Left, her father walked in.
"I just saw Evelyn, why is she going out now when the sun is already going down?" Mr Fraser asked.
"She forgot to get the vegetables. " Mrs Fraser said and Mr Fraser just nodded before going to his room to freshen up.
"What are you still waiting for? Go and wash the meat. " Her mother said sternly making Lila stomped her feet and went to the kitchen with grumbleness.
Lila eyes fell on the raw uncooked meat. She kept staring at it as though the meat was her enemy.
"Why will her mother ask her to wash the meat?" She mused and began to do her thing. She wore some nylon hand gloves before she took the meat and began to wash it. While she was washing it, she peeped through the window only to see that the sky was turning orange.
She smiled mischievously as an evil thought crossed her mind.
"Now is the time for her to celebrate her sister's death. Oh poor Evelyn, you only left the house to get veggies but you won't be able to come back except your corpse. " She smiled evilly her Sapphire blue eyes shone dangerously.
With that, she continued with the meat washing.
It was already getting dark outside when Evelyn finally arrived at the market.
"Young maiden, it's almost time, get somewhere to hide. " A man yelled as he slammed the door to his shop.
Evelyn's heart skipped nervously as she didn't know what to do.
The man she had come to buy the vegetables and onions for had already closed.
She began to walk slowly on the already empty road.
While she was walky, she gripped the nylon bag tightly as fear slowly gripped at her heart.
It was already getting dark and the once lively market suddenly felt quiet as the soft winds blew silently.
"Oh Lord please protect me!" She prayed silently her heart trembling fearfully as she kept walking on the deserted road.
Just as she was walky, she heard a low growling voice.
Her feet paused, her heart felt heavy as she tried to stop her heart from making loud noise but it failed painfully; her body was already drenched with sweats as she heard the growling and loud noises of vampires nearing by.
Before she knew it, she picked up her feet and began to run as fast as her legs could carry.
