Chapter 449 – The Will
"What?"
Maryam was surprised, looking at her son with worried eyes.
Her soulless white eyes began to tear up, then slowly, she began to touch Noah's head from all sides in sporadic motion.
"Are you truly okay?" she asked, voice wavering. "What happened to you? Did you lose your mind? Oh, Soul Rot! Where? Where—!"
"Mother," Noah's calm and descending voice brought Maryam to a standstill.
Instinctively, she closed her eyes, exhaled through both her nose and mouth, then relaxed.
Noah was caressing peacefully the hand that was on his head.
He smiled faintly, his mismatched eyes glowing with profound luster. "Nothing happened to me," he said, craning his neck, then correcting himself.
"Well, nothing to worry about, at least."
"But then what?" Maryam inquired, now calmer.
She had felt Noah manipulating all the souls in her possession. But somehow, her souls were still with her.
Did she dream it? Maryam knew she didn't.
