Chapter 52 - CHAPTER 51 – YAMI’S NEW HOME

*Note: today's picture is the best until now.

Have a good day :)

...

When Burgus arrived at King Deviluke's spaceship, he begged for his life in vain, for it was taken instantly; his crime: attempting to assassinate the future King of the Galaxy, Akira Sato.

Now with Burgus dead, King Deviluke was quite pleased with Akira. Not only had he killed two assassins, but one of them confessed before dying, allowing the King to rid himself of one of the most troublesome nobles as well as a bloodthirsty killer. However, not long after, Zastin arrived at his ship with yet another assassin.

"Your Majesty, it seems they're moving faster than we initially thought," said Zastin.

"Undoubtedly. But tomorrow, when the news of Burgus's death is made public, I don't think they'll send more assassins for a while," said Gid.

Once people saw the fate that awaited them if they tried to kill the future King, even the most foolish noble would think twice before sending an assassin so soon.

"They'll most likely wait some time before sending another one," Gid added.

"But Your Majesty, how many more assassins do you think they could send?" asked Zastin.

After all, if there was one thing this galaxy had no shortage of, it was professional assassins; there were hundreds, each with their own unique abilities.

"They probably won't stop until he's dead… or until he becomes King," Gid replied.

"What do you propose we do?" asked Zastin.

"Nothing. I already said this is a trial he must overcome. Besides, if everything goes well, in a year—perhaps a little more—I'll hand him the throne, so he won't have to endure this for long," said Gid.

At this, Zastin was stunned.

"So soon?! Akira-sama hasn't even received the proper training; he isn't ready to rule!" Zastin exclaimed.

"I wasn't either. But I quickly learned everything I needed to know about ruling. And besides, Lala is by his side, so she'll be able to help him. Believe me, if Akira survives long enough to inherit the throne, being King will be child's play for him; he has plenty of talent," said Gid.

When Gid had ascended the throne, he too had received no preparation. At first, he had done things rather poorly, but thanks to his intelligence, it didn't take him long to understand how to govern the galaxy and improve things the previous King hadn't even bothered to touch. Now, years later, the entire galaxy knew Gid as a wise, strong King who cared for his people.

"If you say so…" Zastin muttered.

Though he didn't completely agree with his King… who was he to question his orders? Naturally, even he could see Akira's immense talent, talent that was slowly developing thanks to the battles he had been fighting lately.

"By the way. Have you received any news from Nana and Momo?" asked Gid.

"I tracked their position as you ordered, and right now they're on their way here. I estimate they'll arrive at the ship within three days," said Zastin.

"Perfect. Do you think they've heard about what happened on Earth, about Lala's fiancé, and that they'll try to go there?" asked Gid.

"Without a doubt. Nana-sama and Momo-sama are very close to Lala-sama, so they'll certainly go to Earth to find her. In fact, I suspect their reason for coming to the ship is to borrow one of its vessels to get to Earth faster," said Zastin.

"So you think the same as I do," said Gid.

It was obvious Nana and Momo would go to Earth to visit their sister. Gid didn't doubt it for a second.

"What should we do then? Let them go or stop them?" asked Zastin.

"We'll let them go to Earth and meet Akira. It could be… interesting," said Gid.

"Your Majesty, are you perhaps thinking…?" asked Zastin, surprised.

Zastin had been working for Gid even before he became King, so he knew his personality and behavior perfectly.

"Only time will tell. Besides, Akira is a far better option than those nobles," said Gid.

"But Your Majesty… all three princesses with the same man?" Zastin said in shock.

The reason Gid wanted to let Momo and Nana take a ship and go to Earth was clear: he wanted both of them to meet Akira and for something to spark between them. Why? The answer was simple. Like Lala, Nana and Momo had also received hundreds of marriage proposals from nobles, all of which were rejected, stirring the nobles' discontent.

The reason was the same as with Lala: neither Momo nor Nana wanted to marry nobles whose only goals were their bodies or joining the royal family. They wanted to find their future husband on their own—someone they would truly love—not those self-serving nobles. Moreover, most of the proposals came from nobles decades older than them and often unattractive, while others came from the sons of nobles who, though not bad-looking, had rotten personalities. That's why, until now, Momo and Nana hadn't accepted a single marriage proposal.

"Akira is an extraordinarily talented human, and if he manages to survive long enough to ascend the throne, he's destined for greatness. In fact, I have no doubt his achievements may even surpass my own," said Gid.

"Your Majesty, I don't understand. I also believe Akira-sama is talented, but… why do you trust him so much?" asked Zastin, baffled.

"My instinct, Zastin," said Gid.

"Your… instinct?" Zastin repeated.

"That's right. My instinct—and it has never failed me. In fact, thanks to following my instinct, I'm here now, speaking to you while sitting on this throne," Gid nodded.

His instinct had helped him greatly over the years and had never failed him once. Why should he doubt it now?

"If you say so…" said Zastin.

"Well then, let's move on to another matter. Tell me everything about the assassin you brought…" said Gid.

Meanwhile, back on Earth.

After we got home, Lala bombarded Yami and me with dozens of questions we had to answer one by one.

"Thank goodness everything's fine now," Lala sighed.

"It truly is a relief. Lala-sama and even I myself were very worried about both of you, and we couldn't even watch our favorite program because of the anxiety," Peke nodded.

"Well, now you don't have to worry anymore. Everything's fine, things are back to normal, and… we also have another piece of news to share," I said.

"Is it something bad?" Lala asked nervously.

After everything that had happened, it was natural for her to assume the worst.

"No, it's good news, so don't worry," I said.

"What is it?" asked Peke curiously.

"This… I…" Yami tried to say.

But the words stuck in her throat. Yami already knew what I was about to tell Lala, but… how could she start such a delicate topic?

"Yami has become my fiancée," I said.

No point beating around the bush; it was best to say it directly.

Normally, if someone came home and told their girlfriend they had found another woman, well… let's just say she wouldn't take it well. But this was Lala, not boring real life.

"That's wonderful, I finally have a new sister!" Lala exclaimed with joy.

And to Yami's surprise, Lala hugged her tightly.

"I'm so happy for you, Yami-sama! And for you too, Akira-sama," said Peke.

At last, Akira had secured the second member of his harem, and it was none other than Konjiki no Yami—a once-infamous assassin, cold and ruthless toward her enemies, a being thought devoid of feelings. But now, after meeting Akira, she seemed anything but an assassin. In fact, whenever she was with him, Yami completely changed, becoming sweet, cheerful, and acting like a maiden in love. It was nothing like the image everyone in the galaxy had of Yami. Even King Deviluke himself would be shocked to see her like this.

Lala's excitement over having a new sister was such that it took more than ten minutes to calm her down. Once again, the difference between our customs gave me a brief cultural shock.

"Now that you're Akira's fiancée, I suppose you'll be living with us," Lala said.

But it wasn't a question, more like a statement—something obvious.

"Akira proposed it to me, so I accepted…" Yami said timidly.

She was still a little shy in front of Akira's first wife, even though it was Lala and she knew her well, but even so, she felt timid.

"I'm glad. Do you have your clothes with you, or will you need to go back to your ship for them?" Lala asked.

"I keep them in my pocket space, which I always carry with me," Yami replied.

"Pocket space"—a term often used in the galaxy—was basically a storage dimension where you could keep whatever you wanted. In fact, you could even store living beings there. But these "pocket spaces" could only be purchased by the extremely wealthy, so most people could only afford a "normal" one. And even then, a "normal" one was far from small: the cheapest started at around ten square meters. Fun fact, the "pocket space" was invented and improved by Tearju, the famous genius inventor known across the galaxy as the smartest person alive with the highest IQ.

"Then you'll need your own room," Lala said.

"That's a problem… right now we don't have any spare rooms, and I don't have enough money to buy a bigger house…" I said.

I hadn't thought about this problem before, but… if in the future my harem—or at least a big part of it—was going to live in this house, where exactly were they supposed to stay? A good question… if I didn't already know the answer.

"Don't worry, I brought a dimensional room! When I ran away, I grabbed one just in case, but since I already have my own bedroom, I'll give this one to you," Lala said.

Then she pulled from her pocket space a flat pink device with a small red button in the center.

"What's a dimensional room?" I asked curiously.

Truthfully, I already had some idea thanks to the anime, but it would've been strange not to ask.

"It's a portable room," Lala said.

"A room? That sticker?" I asked in surprise.

"Yes. This sticker can be attached to any surface, and when it is, it grows into an ultra-resistant door. Inside, there's a room you can decorate and move as you wish. The best part is, since it can be attached anywhere, you can take it wherever you want, and because it has unlimited use… you can already imagine the advantages it has!" Lala explained with a nod.

No doubt, though I didn't remember the one from the anime being exactly like this. In fact, I didn't remember it at all, but it didn't seem to have been just a simple sticker.

"The downside is that they're extremely expensive, so only nobility, royalty, or the extremely wealthy can afford them," Yami said.

That was the catch: portable rooms were very expensive, and very few had access to them. But unlike most, Lala had several, so giving one to Yami wasn't a waste. Besides, Yami was now her future sister, and she couldn't be stingy with her.
