...

"I… want to confess something to you" – Kari said.

"Is something wrong? Are you feeling ill?" – I asked.

I have an idea of what she wants to say, but I don't want to interrupt her; I want her to be the one to say it. Otherwise, if I say something that doesn't turn out to be what she's thinking… I'll look ridiculous.

"No, I'm perfectly fine. I would just like to tell you a story" – Kari said.

Wow, I didn't expect that.

"I'm listening" – I said.

Upon hearing me, Kari nodded.

"Once upon a time, there was an extremely sickly girl. The doctors said it was temporary, but still, the girl lived almost 10 years of her life getting sick very often. Due to her condition, that girl couldn't go to kindergarten or school for long periods of time. Although she had a family that loved and cared for her, the girl felt terrible. She suffered daily from making her parents suffer because of her sickly body, she cried at night praying to God that her body would improve to stop being a burden to her family, and in the short periods when she went to school, she found herself alone, without friends. The girl felt on the verge of depression due to her young age. Luckily, God didn't completely abandon her and gave her the gift of intelligence. The teachers quickly noticed her great intelligence, and after checking her IQ, they realized that the girl's place was not in an elementary school, but in the university. Thanks to that gift…"

Kari had told me about her childhood and how she felt about not having friends and being a burden to her family. After telling me about her past, Kari looked at me with a serious expression, but with a smile.

"But despite everything, the girl never stopped believing that one day she would find someone who loved her for who she was, someone who would be her friend and treat her with kindness. The girl always carried a small silver whistle that she wore around her neck, which was given to her by her brother, but she felt that she was missing something, so she decided to look for a treasure on her own, a unique treasure that only she could find and keep" – Kari said.

"Did she find that treasure?" – I asked.

I already knew where this was going. She was talking about herself and how she met me. She sees me as a treasure she found and wants to keep. It's too cute.

"She did. After searching for a long time, the girl finally found her treasure; a black-haired boy with dark eyes and a kind heart. That boy was her treasure, but she was too scared to tell him, because she thought that if she told him, he might run away, and she would be left alone again" – Kari said.

Upon saying this, a tear rolled down her cheek, but she quickly wiped it away.

"But today, I've decided to be brave and tell you the truth. My treasure… is you, Akira-san. I don't know why, but since I met you, my heart has felt something it had never felt before. At first, I was confused and didn't know what was happening, but thanks to Mikan and the others, I was able to understand. I fell in love with you at first sight, and now… I want to be more than just friends with you. I want you to be my boyfriend, Akira-san" – Kari said.

Kari had finally confessed her feelings to me and now all that was left was for me to respond.

"You know that there is a big age difference between us, right?" – I asked.

"I know, but… age is just a number, isn't it?" – Kari asked.

I was testing her; I had to know if she was serious or just joking. The age difference was a serious matter, and I had to be careful with my actions.

"Well, you're right. Age is just a number. It doesn't matter if you're 11 and I'm 16; as long as we both love each other, everything will be fine" – I said.

"Then…" – Kari said.

"Yes, Kari. I accept your feelings. I will be your boyfriend" – I nodded.

After saying this, Kari's expression changed completely, and she started crying tears of joy. She was extremely happy that I had accepted her feelings.

"T-Thank you! Thank you very much, Akira-san! I love you! I love you! I love you!" – Kari screamed while hugging me.

"I love you too, Kari" – I said while hugging her tightly.

After a long time, we both separated and looked at each other with a smile. It was at that moment that I saw Tai's face.

I was surprised to see him there, but at the same time, I was also amused. How long has he been following us? Did he see everything?

I looked at Kari, and Kari, seeing my expression, immediately understood what I was trying to say.

"Tai has been following us all day. I noticed him when we got on the bus, but he was so engrossed in his stupid disguise that he didn't realize I saw him" – Kari said.

Did he really think he would go unnoticed with that ridiculous disguise? What nonsense!

"I'll talk to him when we get home" – Kari said.

"Should I worry that he saw us? It's possible he even saw our most intimate moment" – I said.

If Tai tells his parents, I'll be in serious trouble. It's not that I don't want Kari to tell her parents; I just ask her to wait a few years, when… ahem, let's just say when it's normal.

"Don't worry, even if he saw us, he won't say anything. My parents would never believe his words, so he won't bother to say it" – Kari said.

Even if she told her parents, the only one who would believe him would be her mother, who already knew about her date with Akira, but even if she knew, she probably wouldn't say anything because the moment she accepted her going on a date with Akira, she knew a kiss might happen. Mothers aren't fools, after all.

"Then I'll trust you to talk to him" – I nodded.

"Yes, trust me!" – Kari nodded.

Now that she was Akira's girlfriend, she felt refreshed, full of energy, and extremely happy, so happy that nothing could take away her happiness. Furthermore, she was looking forward to getting home and calling Mikan to tell her the news. She wanted to brag a little about her date, considering Mikan and Akira had never had a date like hers. Mikan had already teased her enough during these two weeks; now it was her turn to be teased.
