Provoking a Pokémon wasn't terrifying.
Even provoking a powerful Pokémon wasn't terrifying.
What was truly terrifying… was provoking multiple powerful Pokémon all at once.
Chiyou had attacked trainers before.
But they understood very well when such an act was permissible.
It wasn't something they did recklessly—
Certainly not in the way Samuel did, launching an attack even after seeing the other side had summoned their full team of Pokémon.
An enraged Pokémon was more fearsome than anything.
"No!!!"
Seeing the combined assault from Volcarona and the other Pokémon surging toward him, Samuel let out a roar of unwillingness.
He turned to run.
But how could a human possibly outrun a Pokémon's attack?
Thunderous explosions echoed as attacks of all kinds rained down upon Samuel.
As a frail human, Samuel stood no chance of withstanding such a barrage.
He was obliterated.
Not even a trace remained.
Where he had once stood, now lay a massive crater.
The pit was over two to three hundred meters wide, swallowing up the manor gates in its radius.
Within it, the scorched earth remained, along with shards of ice and lingering traces of various powerful moves.
"Cough, cough… Mewtwo, thank you…"
Nathan's voice was faint, weak.
Just before the explosion hit, he had felt Mewtwo pulling him into a tight embrace.
The Frankenstein Mewtwo might not have been as strong as the original, but its self-destruction still packed a terrifying punch.
Even with layers of protective moves, it hadn't been able to completely shield them.
Most of the damage had fallen directly on Mewtwo.
Now, Mewtwo's back was a horrifying mess of blood and torn flesh.
Seeing this, Nathan struggled out of its arms, urgently pulling out healing sprays and recovery medicine to treat it.
To speed up recovery, Nathan applied the medicine and quickly returned Mewtwo to its Poké Ball.
Volcarona and the others rushed to Nathan's side, relieved that he had survived.
"If it weren't for you guys," Nathan said with a faint smile, "Mewtwo and I wouldn't have survived that explosion."
He was still in pain, but more than anything, he felt the need to comfort his Pokémon.
Turning back to where Samuel had been standing—
There was nothing left. No body, no structure—Samuel had been completely erased from the world.
"This… you guys did all this?"
Staring at the enormous crater, Nathan was genuinely stunned.
This wasn't just some building where knocking out a support pillar could cause collapse.
This was solid ground.
And now, a crater so huge it could be filled to become a small lake.
"Vol!"
"Zoar!"
The Pokémon voiced their anger and frustration.
Hearing their cries, Nathan chuckled helplessly.
He felt no guilt about Samuel's death.
A person with no moral bottom line didn't deserve to live.
But then, from the corner of his eye, Nathan spotted something—
The body of the Frankenstein Mewtwo lying silently on the ground.
Self-destruct was indeed a powerful move, but it didn't always lead to the user's death.
It was a technique that expended all internal energy to unleash devastating damage.
In this case, the Frankenstein Mewtwo had only fallen unconscious.
"The poor Pokémon…"
Nathan looked down at it with a tinge of sorrow.
This Pokémon was nothing short of tragic.
He had no better way to describe it.
"Wait… where are the rest of the Chiyou members?"
Suddenly, Nathan realized something was off.
Samuel was dead, yes—but he hadn't seen any sign of the other members.
"Damn it! I completely forgot about them!"
Without wasting another second, Nathan and his Pokémon rushed into the remains of the manor, hunting down every last one of the Chiyou's members.
But what he didn't see—
As he left the battlefield, from the ruins of a collapsed building, a figure slowly crawled out.
Had Nathan been there, he would've immediately recognized the man—
It was none other than the boss of the Chiyou.
Now, the man stood with a face twisted in rage, his eyes locked on the direction Nathan had gone.
From within his coat, he pulled out a yellow crystal.
------------------------
Nathan tore through the manor, locating and apprehending the remaining members one by one.
But something puzzled him—
He couldn't find the Chiyou's boss anywhere.
As he was still deep in thought, a beam of light shot into the sky.
But unlike the usual brilliant white of evolution or release…
This light was pitch black.
The black beam pulsed with a malevolent energy that made the soul shudder.
Nathan had believed he had already witnessed much of the world's darkness—
But now, staring at that rising light,
He finally understood what it meant to confront evil that transcended humanity.
Slaughter.
Rage.
Desire…
If the seven deadly sins had a physical form,
Then all of them were present within that beam.
"What… is that…?"
Nathan muttered to himself.
The source of the light?
None other than the spot where he had fought Samuel.
And the only possible being left there was the Frankenstein Mewtwo—
The one lying unconscious.
Realizing this, Nathan's expression changed drastically.
---------------------
Let's rewind to just after Nathan left the battlefield.
The Chiyou's boss stood beside the unconscious Frankenstein Mewtwo, holding the yellow crystal in hand.
"I never dared to try this before," he muttered, "but now I have no choice."
He had acquired the crystal long ago.
Research labs had shown it contained a terrifying, unstable energy—
One no human could safely control.
Each time he looked at it, the evil within his heart would rise to the surface.
No matter how kind a person might be,
Everyone harbors darkness deep down.
This crystal magnified it—exponentially.
That's why, for so long, the Chiyou's boss had never used it.
But now, with their operations in ruins, he had nothing left to lose.
If the fusion worked, he would gain the world's most evil, most powerful Pokémon.
It was a gamble.
And whether it was genius or foolishness, only time would tell.
He pressed the crystal to Frankenstein Mewtwo's chest.
A flood of dark energy burst forth.
Slowly, Frankenstein Mewtwo's injuries began to heal.
The crystal embedded itself deeper and deeper into the Pokémon's body.
The stitched seams across its skin—marks of its horrific creation—began to fade.
Its patchy, mismatched coloring changed, becoming a smooth, dark grayish-black.
At last, the fusion was complete.
Though the crystal remained visible, it looked as though it had always been part of the Pokémon's body—
Not an external object, but something that had grown from within.
Then, in an instant, a massive burst of black light erupted.
It shot straight up, slicing through the clouds above.
"Hahaha! It worked! It really worked!"
The boss roared with laughter.
"Now rise! Obey me! Together, we will conquer this world!"
But the laughter died as soon as it had come.
The Frankenstein Mewtwo vanished.
The boss looked around, stunned, confused.
And then—he turned his head.
A pair of gray eyes stared directly at him.
Inside each was a dual-colored pupil: one red, one black.
"Me… Mewtwo… I awakened you… I'm your trainer…"
The boss stammered, fear taking hold.
Being stared down by this Pokémon—
It was a fear no human could resist.
What kind of creature had he brought into this world?
Within those eyes, he saw oceans of blood.
Mountains of corpses.
And then—he couldn't breathe.
The fused Mewtwo's hand was around his neck.
With its strength, it could have killed him in a split second.
But it didn't.
It tightened its grip slowly—deliberately.
In its expression was a twisted pleasure,
A joy born of cruelty.
Just then, Nathan arrived, flying back on his Flygon with all his Pokémon.
What he saw froze him in place—
The Frankenstein Mewtwo, now transformed,
Torturing the Chiyou's boss with sadistic calm.
"This is… Shadow Mewtwo?"
Nathan whispered in disbelief.
He was certain—this was the same Frankenstein Mewtwo from earlier.
