The air in the room seemed to shift—the playful tone hanging between them now edged with tension. Kael's stare could've frozen the air itself. "You think this is funny?" He asked in a measured tone but dangerous.
Coda sighed. "I think it's ridiculous."
Kael walked back to his chair behind the desk. He plopped himself on it and leaned forward, elbows on the table as he clasped his hands and took a deep breath. Then he retreated to the backrest. Arms crossed as he finished recounting what had happened the day before—her fighting off three grown men, the injuries, her entanglement with the police and his name being mentioned by her publicly.
Coda sat there for a moment, mouth slightly open in disbelief. "Wait—hold on. She what?" He finally said, analyzing everything he'd heard.
