Everything was gone.
This was Midorima's first thought after thoroughly searching Danzo's temporary residence.
There was nothing here worth getting excited about.
No spare Sharingan eyes, no trace of the First Hokage's cells.
This left Midorima feeling somewhat frustrated.
Either Danzo's assets had been completely destroyed in the fire, or he had hidden them elsewhere.
With no other options, Midorima could only stuff the thirty million ryo into a suitcase.
This was the only thing that made him feel the trip hadn't been a complete waste.
The streets were bustling with noise, and even from the rooftops, he could see flames raging in the direction of the Hokage's office.
It seemed the two sides had already clashed.
Would Danzo be captured, or would he escape?
Midorima wasn't entirely sure.
For Konoha, this night was destined to be sleepless.
Rebuilding the damaged structures wasn't difficult for the shinobi, especially with Yamato around—his Earth Release techniques could quickly restore the Hokage's office, which had been ravaged by the fire.
But some of the materials lost in the flames were irreplaceable, and many jutsu scrolls had been completely destroyed.
These were significant losses for the village.
Fortunately, Kakashi's Water Release techniques had extinguished the fire, though this led to another problem—many of the remaining scrolls and materials were now waterlogged.
All in all, dealing with these documents wasn't an easy task for the Konoha shinobi—in fact, it was quite troublesome.
By the evening of the next day, Tsunade finally returned to her residence, utterly exhausted. Shizune was in even worse shape—though she had no visible injuries, Midorima could tell her spirits were low, as if she had suffered some kind of shock.
After Tsunade briefly recounted the events, Midorima learned that Shizune had not only been captured again but had also been nearly crushed by a falling boulder.
"It was as big as a balloon," Shizune gestured to Midorima, her face pale.
"But you're fine," Midorima said, puzzled.
"How am I fine?! It splattered blood all over my face!" Shizune snapped.
"Huh? It didn't hit you?"
"It crushed a Root member. Hey, what's that supposed to mean? Are you disappointed it didn't hit me?" Shizune retorted.
"Not that disappointed, just a little… very little." Midorima held up his fingers to emphasize just how little.
Shizune rolled her eyes in irritation.
Meanwhile, Tsunade sat upright and formally thanked Midorima, which made him somewhat embarrassed.
"That loudspeaker announcement was your doing, right? If not for you, Shizune and I might have been in serious trouble."
"It's not that big a deal. Even without me, the Anbu would've shown up eventually."
"But the Police Force and the Hyuga clan definitely wouldn't have," Tsunade added.
The Police Force and the Hyuga clan had played a crucial role in the incident.
If they hadn't intervened, she and Shizune would likely be prisoners by now.
"Just luck, really…"
After all, he was on someone else's turf—it was best to stay humble.
"So, Danzo surrendered after being surrounded," Midorima speculated.
Logically speaking, while Izanagi was powerful, Danzo only had two Sharingan on his arm—three at most, including Shisui's.
Against so many shinobi, even Izanagi wouldn't have been enough to turn the tide.
"No, he was knocked out by Might Guy."
"..."
Typical Might Guy.
His father, "Might Dai," had taken down four opponents in a counterattack, but Might Guy was even more impressive—he had fought Uchiha Madara head-on, unleashing Night Guy and even landing a solid hit.
That was something even those with Kekkei Genkai or tailed beasts couldn't accomplish.
"What about the Hokage?" Midorima asked.
Konoha had almost become the next Kirigakure.
"He didn't even take time to recover before meeting with the advisors and clan leaders to discuss the next steps." Tsunade glanced at Midorima, wondering if he would press further.
But Midorima had no intention of asking more.
"In that case, it's time for me to leave Konoha." Midorima rubbed his hands together.
Konoha was nice, but he wasn't a native. Besides, until the issues with the Akatsuki and Kirigakure were resolved, he'd keep getting harassed.
And that was annoying.
"You're leaving already?"
"If I don't go now, I'll have to wait for the Hokage to summon me, won't I?" Midorima countered.
"That's impossible!" Tsunade waved her hand dismissively. "No one even knows you were involved."
"I'd like to believe that. But if someone investigates yesterday's loudspeaker announcement, they'll probably notice something odd." Midorima shrugged.
"Even so, it has nothing to do with you." Tsunade took full responsibility for the matter.
"Regardless, I still need to leave." Midorima smiled. "I've got a rematch waiting with the Akatsuki and Orochimaru."
"By the way, is that cursed seal still there?" Tsunade asked.
"You mean this?" Midorima pulled back his collar, revealing the Heaven Cursed Seal mark.
It wasn't that he couldn't remove it himself, but he had left it intact in case Tsunade wanted to examine it.
"Then… before you leave, I'll seal it again with the Evil Sealing Method," Tsunade said.
Midorima's heart leapt. "I'd really appreciate that."
The Analysis Lab's Assimilation ability could neutralize the cursed seal while converting its chakra into his own.
As for the Evil Sealing Method, unless one was a Konoha shinobi, there was almost no chance of learning it.
By having Tsunade perform the seal on him, she was, in a way, also teaching him how to execute it.
"There's one more thing I'd like to ask of you." Tsunade hesitated.
"Hm?"
"It's about the Uchiha clan." She frowned. "I know this might be too much to ask, especially since I don't have anything to offer in return, but… I still want to know how to resolve their situation."
"That…" Midorima scratched his head. "It's really beyond my capabilities."
"But you said before that you had some ideas."
"The circumstances keep changing, though. Maybe now that Danzo's been captured, the Uchiha's situation will improve?"
Tsunade's expression didn't lighten at his words, which surprised Midorima—things didn't seem to be going as he expected.
"Uh… Did something happen?"
"Danzo had three Sharingan in total, one of which belonged to Shisui. The Uchiha are furious—they feel they've fought and bled for Konoha, only to be framed and denied even the dignity of keeping their fallen clansmen's eyes. They're not just disappointed with the village… they're enraged."
Midorima froze, then forced a smile to hide his discomfort.
This… really wasn't part of his plan.
