Chapter 15 - 15; Ascension.

Skysher stood there terrified. Darkness spread all around striking him with fear.

His heart throbbed, faster and faster with each passing moment. His hands shaking, and his face sweating rivers.

It was evident that whatever stood behind him wasn't going to give him an easy time.

Everything seemed to have turned silent, a deadly void cracking upon Skysher.

'What the hell?!'

Skysher gritted his teeth, all of him was telling him to run, run, and never look back.

But then, another part of him was telling him to jump in and meet face to face with the predator.

It was powering him to fight, fight like there was no tomorrow!

Skysher folded his fists.

He was tired of running, running from huge beasts who wanted to eat him.

He was tired of being overpowered every single fight, however, times change.

That person was no longer him, he was no longer the prey, he was now the hunter!

A smile came upon Skysher's face as he tightened his grip on his sword, his eyes gleaming with power.

It was time to let the worms know, who the real boss was.

[Ding]

>+20 IP.

The system fueled Skysher's ego, it was part of being a villain to believe that no one could touch him.

That was its secret to winning.

Skysher slowly spiraled around, his eyes coming face to face with the so-called deadly [Boss].

It wasn't as he had imagined, not what he looked forward to at all.

Standing there before him was not a worm, it was different!

This one had scales, huge, sharp, metallic, and shiny scales covered all around its body.

As if it were wearing armor covering all of its body.

Its body was thrice as long as the ones from before, coupled with a huge stinger at the back of its tail.

At its mouth lay two pincers, each covered with small thorny edges of its own.

Once caught by the pincers, the prey would instantly be slashed into pieces.

Skysher stood there staring at the monstrosity before him, amazed yet fearless standing foot to foot with such a creature.

Suddenly, the worm's tail slashed out of the sand, aimed at Skysher.

Skysher moved aside, letting the tail miss him by an inch, however the worm was not to be played with.

As Skysher shifted his position, so did the worm. It's huge pincers, now aimed at Skysher's head.

Skysher was taken aback, he had fallen for the worm's strategy. But Skysher wasn't going to fall just like that.

He swiftly pulled out his sword, holding it tight against the worm's sharp pincers.

The worm started to squiggle, ready to bounce its tail back at him once more.

Skysher immediately understood its intention. Looking back at its tale which was now coming for him.

"Oh! So we are playing this game now are we?"

Suddenly, Skysher let go of the sword, pulling the worm by its pincers.

With all his strength, Skysher lifted the worm up throwing it aside.

The worm had been taken by surprise. Its body shaking the ground, as the impact flew dust and sand everywhere.

Skysher smirked. Picking up his sword from the ground, his eyes fixed on the worm's position.

As the cloud of sand cleared up, the two locked eyes once more.

The worm, enraged, started to let out a huge roar at Skysher, its growl breaking the sound barrier.

Skysher, in turn, smiled in contempt. Gripping his sword tightly in his hand.

"Show me what you got!"

He snapped back, looking at the worm.

Their battle began.

Both took to the other, with speed on equal footing. Skysher whipped his sword, striking it against the Worm's body.

Its sharp and hard shell refused to crack, as tiny flames sparked between their contact surface.

The worm was indestructible.

Skysher gritted his teeth. How was he supposed to cut through it when his whole body was covered in hard shells?

Suddenly, Skysher felt something crawling up against his skin!

'What the~'

It was another worm, exactly like the one before him, but smaller.

The worm snapped out to cut Skysher's body, but Skysher was agile. He flicked it aside, his hand saving his neck just in time.

But that was the least of his worries.

More small worms were crawling out of the boss worm, all getting on Skysher's body.

Skysher writhed in shock. His hands, rushing over his body, flicking them out.

Suddenly, Skysher let go, his sanity not being able to take it in anymore.

Little did he know, the worst was yet to come!

The worm was now fully commanding an army. Skysher stood there, watching in shock.

Its red scales kept opening up, each time releasing a bunch of smaller worms with small legs, yet each more dangerous than the first.

Tiny and average-sized worms flooded the small sandy plain, all under the command of their leader.

Skysher was in for it now!

Suddenly, the worm let out a huge growl, commanding all the worms, tiny and average, to rush at the enemy.

Skysher was taken aback.

In an instant, his whole body was covered with tiny termites pinching him here and there.

To make it worse, the [Boss] worm was attacking him too!

He was trapped, running in circles defenseless, then suddenly

[Ding]

Skysher got an alert from the system, one that he never thought he would see.

[System Alert]

>You are getting overpowered, would you like to deactivate [FROST VEIL]

Skysher was surprised, 'Frost Veil' was a word he had never heard of before, let alone an ability!

Suddenly, Skysher felt disturbed.

Out of nowhere, the worm struck, striking Skysher mid-air while he was distracted by the alert.

Its tail slashed Skysher instantly, flinging him a couple of meters away in a flash.

Thankfully, Skysher had reacted just in time to divert a death blow and landed unharmed.

Skysher stood up, brushing away the sand on his clothes. He had finally had enough.

His eyes started glowing purple, as he looked at the system panel.

He knew nothing about [Frost Veil], but he quite frankly did not care.

Whatever it was, Skysher decided it was best to be rid of it.

"Deactivate 'Frost Veil'," Skysher said, his voice sharp and bold.

Before he could react, a rush of power screamed through Skysher!

The new burst of energy felt both cold and electric at the same time.

His body was now covered with a new cover of crackling new energy, and it felt amazing!

Looking at himself, Skysher marveled at this wonder and how he suddenly got that much power!

Could it have been this new ability?

However, the worm was not about to let a little power ruin its hard-fought battle for victory.

With full anger, it shot off a huge roar at Skysher, its wail breaking through all of Skysher's thoughts.

As if on cue, all the minions of the worm, came hurdling at Skysher once again.

However, this time, Skysher was prepared.

With no word, Skysher took off, chopping through all the minions in sight.

Within a split second, Skysher had already sniped most of the worm's minions.

All slashed, and lying lifeless on the ground, yet more and more kept coming.

It didn't matter how many of the copies he killed, the original would almost every time produce ten times more.

Skysher wasn't backing down, and neither was the worm.

Both lunged at each other, with full force and no hesitation.

Each with the speed of a bullet, aimed directly to rid the other of its head.

The worm threw out its tail, expecting to catch Skysher off guard once again.

Instead, it found it split into two, as it watched Skysher fly through.

Skysher smiled, he wasn't going to be fooled by the same trick twice!

Or maybe not!

The worm wasn't done, unlike Skysher, it had a hidden weapon under its sleeves.

Suddenly, a small string shot towards Skysher, his reaction lagging behind.

His face got cut, a small wound on the outside, carving the path for a deadly poison on his inside!

It was just a matter of time, till it would take effect, and that's exactly what Skysher didn't have. Time!

Instantly, Skysher started to feel dizzy, his head started to wobble around, and his eyes got sidetracked.

His senses, lost in his own mind.

[Ding]

>Skill [Instant] Activated!

Amidst the chaos in his head, no warning came to Skysher as he regained his senses.

Unbeknownst to him, the boss was already on the move.

Seamlessly stuck in the air, an inch away from Skysher, and ready to snap him in half, the worm lay face to face with Skysher.

The two-second mark hit the clock, and time was back to being normal.

Skysher went head to head with the worm, his hands tightly gripping the pincers of the worm.

The worm wriggled and wiggled, trying to close its pincers, to no avail.

Skysher's hands negated any effort put behind them.

"You piece of trash! Go to Hell."

Skysher snapped, his voice deep and sharp.

His hands extended more and more, trying to cut off the demon worm's head.

The two both screamed, one in pain and one in determination.

The winner? One basked in victory!

Skysher, with a final scream, split apart the worm's body, its blood and organs flying everywhere.

Skysher let go of his grip, releasing the ripped-off head of the [Boss].

He had Won.

[System Alert]

>System assessment level 1 officially cleared.
