A tall, handsome man with short black hair and yellowish eyes was lazing over his plush couch, dark circles marring his attractive face.
"another damn long shift at the bar.."
Having just come back from work, it was safe to say Cassian was spent. after all his daily life consisted of working at a bar through the night, come home to sleep, wake up and leave for work
"at least i like drinksmithing.." he said wistfully gazing at the rising sun in the window, taking a puff of his cigarette
"should probably go to sleep huh.." he sighed as he got up, while he may be sleep deprived. he sure as hell is taking a shower first.
"sleep be damned. i wont be able to sleep knowing I'm so full of grime damnit." closing his eyes as he walked, he had failed to notice the jacket sprawled on the floor, slipping on it head first into the the tables corner
"AHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhh...?"
after the initial fall came.. there was only clarity, no blinding lights, no pain of death, just clarity, like a person having just woken up.. at least as much clarity as waking up in the arms of a busty blond woman was.
"the fuck..?" confused, Cassian had looked around to no avail, at least until the woman had begun talking
"whos my little baby..! your oh so so cute!"
"whos your baby you crazy- ahhhhhhhhh! the fuck?! what's with my hands..!" suddenly noticing how small his hands were.. and how large the woman was compared to him.. it didn't take long to realize who the baby was..
"I'm.. a baby..? no no nonono this.. this has to be a joke right? y-yea! it has to be! i just hit my head on the table to hard that must be it.. yeah.."
falling deeper into his delusions, looking for any excuse to refuse this absolutely absurd situation, a door had just opened.. only for the woman's face to drop in excitement dramatically
'whos that damn drunkard?' looking at the obviously drunk disgusting fat man, similar to the people he would often find at the bar while working he had heard the woman speak with a heavy voice
"Richard.. husband." the man, barely offering a nod of acknowledgement, turned his gaze to the baby in her hand, a clear hint of disdain in his eyes
"is that.. thing, my damn child?"
"he.. he's not a thing Richard." with a slightly scared face she confronts richard, although reluctant
"WHO ARE YOU TO TALK BACK TO ME BITCH!" suddenly, with no warning, the man yells, bringing his arm up to hit the woman, before deciding not too, since she had just given birth
"tch, your lucky i need you to feed that thing." he threatened looking at the baby with disdain
'fucking fattass..' meanwhile, a whole other train of thoughts is going on in the said baby's brain
due to this sudden situation, his mind was somewhat offset from the earlier mental crisis, allowing him to clear his thoughts a bit
'sooo.. I'm a baby.. apparently, and i have a busty ass mom.. and a seemingly deadbeat father.. already a horrid start'
despite still not believing this whole situation was even real, he had decided to treat it as such for now, not like thinking about it would help anyways.
'ahh.. i mean, my younger brother i think watched stuff like this.. something like manga or whatever..? a novel i think.. something about like reincarnation or something.. seems quite similar..'
deciding not to dwell on it for too long, he had decided to turn his attention back too the two adults
"so you slut, what's the things name?"
"i.. i thought we were gonna decide to together..?"
"do i seem like i have the time for your stupid games Sierra?! just pick a name already. I'm going to the gambling district."
"i.. o-okay.. sure.." she said with a timid voice, watching him leave with a scared but hateful look.
"disgusting bastard.." she muttered under her breath as he finally left.
making sure he had left, her attention went back to the baby in her arms, her eyes full of motherly love.
"how about.. Cain?" deciding after a bit of thought, she had made up her mind
"Cain Smith. that sounds good right?"
'good my ass, Cain just means possession, and don't get me started with how basic smith is.' however, as a baby. you don't usually get much of a choice, thus. Cassian's new name is now just.. Cain, as annoying as it is
'at least its fitting..' to weirded out by what's happening to dwell on a name, it was about time to think about what's going on
'so.. it seems i died, though its hard to believe, lets go with that. and now I'm a baby.. looking at the state of the house id say were in somewhat medieval times? not a good start.. but alas.. if i am dead, at least its a start'
considering the current state of what's going on, and as a baby, Cassian now Cain, had decided to wait a while. see what information he can get about this new life of his, and so. in the blink of an eye, 7 years have already went by.
-7 YEARS LATER-
a young boy, with vibrant black hair, and round black eyes was sitting on the grass of the mound he was on, gazing at the somewhat cloudy sky
"nothing." the words coming out in an annoyed tone, something unfitting a child of that stature, or age
'7 years in this place and damn nothing, all i can gather is that I'm from a commoner family, and that there's magic and knights in this world, not like it helps, since i wont even have the opportunity to learn anything as a commoner'
lamenting this horrid situation, his mind drifts back to his mother. 'she's a priestess, a very low level one.. but still' remembering the time he had fell and scraped his knee one time, only for her to miraculously heal it
'you would think we would have some money if she was a priestess, no matter how bad, but my deadbeat of a father just spends it all on gambling and drinking.'
"ah.. right, i turn 8 today don't i? i nearly forgot. i should head home though, less mom would get anxious.."
getting up and starting to head home, he notices a few raindrops here and there as he walks, the rain getting more intense by the second, as he' s running in the rain home before he catches a cold
'my clothes are thin as hell, practically rags.. if i get too wet ill just get sick.'
soon enough.. he gets home, standing in front of the door, he can hear loud screaming
'probably just father again..' and as he walks in.. a far different scene than he had imagined appears
"y-you slut! i-i.. how could you be pregnant!? that's not my child.. no! it cant be! i-i cant pay for another child damnit.. y-yea! you must've cheated on me! that's the only way!" breathing heavily, the fat man runs out the door, pushing Cain to the side as he runs, leaving only the two of them in there.
as he stands there looking at his mother collapsing to the ground crying, he runs up to her, attempting to give her a hug, only for her to push him back, making him fall on his butt
"m-mom..?" with shaking eyes, Cain struggles to make sense of what's happening, his mind a whirl of emotions
'moms.. pregnant? and dad l-left.. i.. what do i do? mom cant support both of us.. especially not when she's pregnant.. and I'm just a kid. nobody would hire me..'
"leave." breaking his train of thoughts, his mother. Sierra, says in a low. cold voice, not even bothering to look at him
"wh-what? m-mom what did you just say..?"
"i said leave damnit! leave you good for nothing child! leave and never show your face around me again damnit.." she yells, her voice full of rage, pouring all her resentments on the child
"i.. mom but-"
crack!
just before he could talk, a sharp noise comes through the room, his mothers hand moving along his face with a harsh crack, a clear slap to the face, sharp.. but weak, although it certainly sent the message
"i.. okay.. f-fine.." with a shaky, devastated voice, Cain leaves the house with slow, heavy steps, his boots squishing on the wet mud, rain pouring upon his face as aimlessly.. he just walks, no direction, no goal.. just a quite walk in the rain, with a grim, heavy heart
'what.. now? Richard left.. mother forced me away.. there's nowhere left to go.. a-aside.. from there..'
soon.. walking in a certain direction, Cain finds himself in a certain street.. like the market district, the gambling district and even the noble district.. there is also one for people like him.. people with no other place to go.
'the beggars district..' he thinks with a heavy mind, soul and body.. soon finding himself sitting emotionlessly on the rock hard pavement, dirty and full of grime, along with the other people, orphans, beggars, those who lost everything.
'i.. what now..? first.. i need to survive.. somehow, and second.. i need money.. one way or another.. mother.. my mother needs me.. she was just out of it.. and she has a baby.. she cant be left alone.. yea.. lets just find some money.. so i can help mother..'
and so, having made up his mind, Cain's eyes get their spark back, even in this situation. after all, if not for him. who would help out his mother?
-CHAPTER END-
heyo yalls! hope you enjoyed the chapter, i tried to make it good! first of all i would like to thank everyone who read this chapter, or any future chapters! now, as you all know. most novel authors make authors note at the bottom of the chapter, and I'm the same.
but i wanna make it a tinyyyyy bit different, you see. just like me, i know a lot of people who want to write novels, but most really never end up doing so even if they want too, and that's because they have no clue how to.
so from now on. every single chapter will include an authors note for tips on how i got better at writing, how to write a novel and so on! stuff like how many words should a chapter include? how to get better at writing, how to make my novel more interesting and you can also comment on a chapter any question you have and ill probably answer them in the Next chapters notes.
peace!
