The Potter Secret
The door swung in and disappeared. A smell wood polish and rather ordinary human things, wafted into their noses.
Hazel entered first, followed by Harry and their friends all trickled in after. The room was an ordinary wood paneled study.
The wood was a dark pecan and was polished and maintained with the utmost care.
Books lined one wall and Hazel took a large picture book labeled "Harry and Hazel's first Year" from the shelf.
She smiled as she watched her parents play with her and Harry, she saw her and Harry sleeping in their crib, and celebrating their first birthday. Her parents waved to her as they directed her and Harry to look out into the camera.
Harry stood behind her and wrapped an arm around her and kissed the back of her head.
"I was really cute wasn't I?"
Hazel scoffed and pushed him off of her as he burst into laughter and quietly took the book and turned the pages.
She slowly walked around the room. Evervine, Marcel, and Hermione studied the bookshelf and Ron looked at a cupboard of bric-a-brac.
"Harry, give me the emerald?"
"Here." He handed it to her absent mindedly.
"What did you find?" Evervine looked up and came over to her side as Hazel squinted at an engraving in one of the wood panels.
"I am not sure. I think the emerald goes here." Harry looked up from the photo album, and went to them.
"Place it in. Let's see what happens."
Hazel nodded and placed the emerald into the Sunken space. The wood became like putty and molded itself around the large gem – and the room itself shifted.
Hazel looked on with a small smile and a frown. "It's our house Harry. I have often come here in dreams and remembered our parents."
Even as she said it the room settled. It was a small room with a large crib against one wall, Lily and James Potter sat in a corner on a wide blanket with two chubby babies. The scene was still and quiet.
Hazel walked up to the four and squatted before Lily Potter – she really did look like her. Tears welled in her eyes. She had locked memories of her parents away.
Refusing to allow them to enter into her dreams. She was a seer, she could have revisited her childhood many times. She only knew of Harry because their connection would not let her hide or ignore him.
Harry placed a hand on her shoulder. "Hazel" His voice was low and full of emotion. She touched his hand and they had a quiet moment between them.
Harry cleared his voice as he looked over to the crib.
"What is it?"
Hazel stood, her hand quickly wiping tears from her face. "I think it is a memory, or the access moment to a memory."
"A memory? Our parent's memory?" Harry squatted down in front of his father and waved his hand in front of his eyes.
"How do we start it?"
And with the question the scene started.
"We need to make sure that they know."
"Of course we do. I will leave a memory for them. You and I will go place it in Gringotts. I will place the memory and you will set up the location."
James Potter nodded to his wife as he picked up a giggling Hazel. "But we need to make sure they get it when they are together."
"Agreed. And when they are of age."
Lily smiled at baby Harry and rubbed his back as he crawled in front of her. Then it all stopped.
To breaths passed and Hazel grabbed Harry's arm, her eyes never leaving the scene – when he went to speak to her. He looked and his mother had turned her head to them.
She smiled broadly and stood. She looked at them both, and shook her head.
"You're not old enough. You need to be at least 18 years old." Her smile broadened and her eyes twinkled.
"18. Keep the Shaping Gem with you and come back – together – when you are ready."
She turned and went back to the family scene. She sat on the floor next to Harry and the scene reset – all four perfectly frozen in a long ago moment.
