Chapter 12 - Two hares in a cave [1]

Korra Magnato, the commander of the Hares, mostly popular to her appearance and the books she wrote about the reflection, she doesn't reveal herself, trying to keep her life as private as possible. Only the members of the hares knew how she looked physically, and only the ones she sees worthy, get to know her better.

Nail kept looking at Korra, as she slowly walked through the camping tent, she slowly passed and sat on the same chair behind the desk she had. She sat and stared directly to Nail's eyes, that seemingly started to glow and turn of a beige color.

"So, Why the hell would you even be in Cerin," Korra asked as she crossed her arms

Nail sighed, as he avoided her eyes

"I was out of duty, I don't owe you an explination." Nail said as he looked to his right.

"...You know that I am the one who grants your salary right? Or is the age really catching up on you"

Nail sighed clearly pissed over the fact that his "boss" was just a kid on his point of view was clearly mocking him.

"I found someone, that may be on the Precognition of his Echo"

Kora's eyes widened as she listened to Nail.

"A pre-cognitive? I knew you were up to something, every generation it seems to be easier to become a linker, couldn't you wait for the goverment to do the 7 year analysis?

Every seven years, the goverment would make an obligatory analysis, this analysis was to detect who had the opportunity to become a linker.

"I wanted to see it myself, plus he is the son of an old friend of mine."

Before Nail could even notice, Korra was already coming out of another "room" with a mug of hot chocolate.

"First of all, all your friends are old, like you."

A vein over Nail's forehead started pulsatting as if it was about to explode.

"Second, I want you to bring him here when you can. He has to be special if he made you, a workaholic, to take an indefinit break."

Nail was taken aback by the statement, but nodded, he knew her boss already, and she was the kind of person that was hard to hold back once she was interested on something or someone.

"Now, back to the topic, the cave with signs of darkness. Were there any traces of a Forsaken? Korra asked as she took a long gulp of her mug.

"I'm not sure, but I counted an amount of four torneds of low grade around the main source of darkness, that kid I told you took them out by himself"

Kora's eyes opened up, notably surprised, as she left the mug on the table.

"And you said he is probabbly on the pre-cognition phase? You may have struck old-man."

Nail nodded, as he avoided the ''old-man'' part

"So, a chance for there to be a forsaken? I guess I have enough time for a quick trip" Korra said as she stood up and headed to another room.

"Wait I was thinking you'd send someone, I didn't think you'd want to go" Nail said as a slight stutter resounded out of his mouth

"Well, don't blame me, thank's to my stupid roll as the ''Representative of the Hares'' I don't really have chances to use my sword, so in case something happens, you're coming with me"

Nail thought of giving an excuse so he could not go with her, but it was true that the cave could get confusing, and it was indeed big, so Korra would indeed take her time to find the right path.

"I don't really have a choice here, do I?"

Korra came out of the room she went on, now with a belt which had a short-sword strapped on it.

"Of course you don't."

Korra bluntly said, it wasn't even a joke, she was absolutely serious. Nail walked up to her and touched her shoulder, both of them closed their eyes, and after a few seconds, the wind which brushed them didn't feel as cold as it was moments ago. When Nail opened his eyes, they were standing just infront of the same cave entrance.

Korra looked at her surroundings, she was slightly surprised over something but prefered to not talk. With a light nod, Nail stood infront of her and started walking, working as a "guide" for the young looking lady, they kept walking as the cave slowly started turning darker and darker, finally they reached that same intersection where Mergo seemed to have lost his mind and stabbed uncountable times the torned, the walls still had noticeable marks of that green blood.

Korra seemed surprised as she spoke her mind.

"Is that kid of your's some pshycho? How did he even got the blood of the torneds on the walls?"

Nail didn't answer, he himself couldn't really explain what he saw back then.

They kept walking, going through that path which Mergo took to reach the traces of darkness.

The walls kept turning themselves darker and darker, reaching the point where someone wouldn't be able to distinct where they are, but for people as Nail and Korra it wasn't anything serious. they kept going as the dark mist started enveloping them, almost as if the own mist knew that they were indeed here to end it's source, finally, they ended on some kind of room, a genuiene room, with cemented floor and walls, Nail felt a bit weirded out, though this wasn't the first time they have ever seen something like this, it still left a lingering feeling on him.

"On the north, have you perchance found more of this "rooms" in the north, captain?"

Nail asked as a genuiene curious question.

"Yeah, we have found some, One thing is for sure, the north is infested with rooms like this, and they are not random, they are made for something."

She answered clinging onto her head, almost seeingly as she was having a devastating headache.

"And in all of those rooms were forsaken in them, right?"

Nail asked as he looked towards his left, where something started to come out of that obscure mist.
