"Inoichi Yamanaka, don't forget what you promised!" Uchiha Elder strained to maximize his three-tomoe Mangekyō Sharingan.
Crimson blood welled in his eyes, but he remained cautious. Besides Kurenai Yūhi, the Yamanaka clan: Shintenshin no Jutsu was the only way in Konoha that could rival the Uchiha Genjutsu.
Uchiha Elder had secretly colluded with the Yamanaka clan before the election, intending to use the three-tomoe Mangekyō Sharingan and the Yamanaka's unique Shintenshin no Jutsu talents to destroy Kai's consciousness and turn him into a puppet. He craved that power.
Inoichi Yamanaka's wrinkled face twitched. Their agreement was to act against Kai after the Uchiha secured the Hokage position.
Now, he was being dragged into the open. But seeing Kai's Susano'o suddenly pause, a glimmer of hope appeared on Inoichi's face.
The genjutsu was working! With more effort, combined with Elder's three-tomoe Mangekyō Sharingan, they could erase Kai's consciousness.
This would give the dwindling Yamanaka clan a chance to thrive.
"Attack!"
Inoichi roared, and his clansmen unleashed a powerful Shintenshin no Jutsu wave, amplified by Elder's Mangekyō Sharingan.
Dozens of them attacked simultaneously, their combined genjutsu and shintenshin.
Uchiha Elder roared, a crazed look on his face.
"Genjutsu: Seven-Colored Phantom Dragon!"
"Arrogant brat, sleep! Blame yourself for your arrogance and disobedience!"
His roar echoed as the swirling vortex in the sky descended towards Kai.
Roar!
A dragon's roar split the heavens as a massive, seventy-meter-long phantom dragon hurtled towards Kai.
His Susano'o, supposedly impenetrable, was pierced as if it were transparent. Without any defense, the dragon entered Kai's body.
Boom!
The air thundered. Kai's body trembled slightly before his Susano'o shattered, his eyes losing their light.
"We succeeded!!"
Uchiha Ryū, the second elder, was ecstatic. This was a high-risk gamble. Kai's abilities were formidable, and they'd heard many tales.
Their plan—combining the Yamanaka's shintenshin with the Uchiha's Sharingan, amplified by Hi's three-tomoe Mangekyō Sharingan—was intricate. Any mistake would fail.
"Something's wrong! Jiraiya, stop them!" the Third Hokage yelled, his face contorting in alarm.
From Kai's attack to Elder's counterattack, only half a minute had passed. There was barely time to react.
Jiraiya vanished instantly, using Shunshin. The Third Hokage stood up, his composure breaking.
"Sarutobi, isn't this the perfect opportunity to eliminate a threat?" Homura Mitokado grabbed the Third Hokage's arm. Koharu Utatane nodded in agreement.
They saw the Uchiha eliminating Kai as a good thing.
But that thought was immediately shattered.
"You underestimate him!" The Third Hokage threw off Mitokado's hand. "I'm just afraid someone will act rashly."
He vanished using Shunshin. Uchiha Han, the third elder, watched the Hokage's dais. Seeing Jiraiya and the Third Hokage act, he yelled, "Elder, use the sealing jutsu! Stop them!"
Uchiha Han and his clansmen charged towards Jiraiya and the Third Hokage, hindering their movements.
They could only watch as Uchiha Elder unfurled a sealing scroll—a large scroll containing various pre-written seals, similar to those used against Edo Tensei in the Fourth Great Ninja War. It didn't require hand seals, and while its power was uncertain, it was perfect for Kai, who was under the influence of the Seven-Colored Phantom Dragon.
"Seal!"
Uchiha Elder roared, the scroll wrapping around Kai, forming intricate seals. Kai was completely encased.
Uchiha Elder was elated, but before he could celebrate, projectiles flew through the air. Shuriken rained down, halting his advance. Two figures landed beside the sealed Kai.
"Heh, I arrived a bit late, but such a gift is delivered to my door. Thank you for the present," Danzo's raspy voice echoed.
His bandaged face contorted in glee. He'd planned to disrupt the election, but this was too good to pass up.
