"Old man Ōnoki, are you saying Iwagakure has no successors, that you have to shoulder the burden alone?" the Fourth Raikage suddenly interjected, pushing the already tense atmosphere to the brink.
"You lightning-wielding brat, you're too arrogant! Since your father is dead, I'll take his place in teaching you a lesson!" Ōnoki roared, white light gathering in his hands as a terrifying aura of destruction spread.
"Looking for death!" the Fourth Raikage roared back, equally unwilling to back down.
Crackling lightning enveloped him as he transformed into a bolt of lightning, appearing before Ōnoki with blinding speed.
The sudden attack made Ōnoki's expression shift. His Dust Release was powerful, capable of instantly turning anything to dust. However, it took time to perform. Against the Fourth Raikage's speed, at this close range, he was at a disadvantage.
He could act, but a clash at such close proximity would endanger everyone present.
Whoosh!
A golden blur appeared.
Two hands, like tiger claws, clamped down on the Fourth Raikage and Ōnoki's wrists, instantly dispersing their gathered chakra.
From the start, they hadn't intended to truly fight.
Their dramatic entrances were meant to display their nation's strength and assert dominance. They hadn't expected anyone to make a more impressive entrance.
"Oh, Ōnoki-sama, we meet again," Minato Namikaze said with a smile. "The Kage are gathered to discuss important matters.
We've all come with the same goal in mind. Let's set aside our differences and discuss this calmly."
Minato released his grip and looked at Yagura Karatachi.
As the host of the summit, Yagura quickly agreed. "Indeed. You should show respect for the Fourth Hokage, if not for me."
"Konoha is thriving, with two Hokage—a joyous occasion."
Everyone was taken aback, but no one dared to object.
Even the usually volatile Fourth Raikage merely snorted, dissipating the lightning around him.
As Yagura said, Konoha's dual Hokage system wasn't a slight against other villages; it was a testament to their strength.
"Hmph, I thought it was that monkey.
Didn't expect him to retire so quickly," Ōnoki snorted, landing gracefully on the ground.
Yagura glanced at Suigetsu. "Return at once. Don't disgrace Kirigakure."
No one believed Suigetsu would have acted without Yagura's tacit approval.
However, everyone understood his actions: to prove that samurai were as strong as shinobi. This was why he had the authority to host the summit.
"Hmph," Suigetsu snorted, sheathing his sword and leaving without a word.
However, he noticed a small chip on his blade's edge, his face darkening.
He valued his Kubikiribōchō because it could withstand brutal use, absorbing blood to regenerate.
This new blade was a mere imitation, limiting his true strength.
"This was a misunderstanding.
Your presence honors the Land of Iron," Mifune stepped forward, his gaze falling on Minato Namikaze.
"I didn't expect to see these two old faces. Konoha's always been extravagant."
This unexpected comment stunned everyone.
Their gazes followed Mifune's, and many gasped, including Ōnoki and the Fourth Raikage.
"Are those two of the Sannin?" a samurai asked.
Okisuke nodded. "They're strong enough to be Kage.
It's surprising the Third Hokage bypassed them to appoint Minato Namikaze."
"Hey, Okisuke, you haven't changed.
Always gossiping," Jiraiya said, waving at Mifune. "Can't you let Tsunade and me have some alone time? You had to ruin our moment."
"Jiraiya, shut up," Tsunade said coldly, though she refrained from beating him up, unusually.
Her gaze swept across the assembled Kage, settling on the Fourth Raikage. "I didn't expect you to become Raikage."
"But excluding the Tsuchikage, most of us became Kage directly or indirectly because of Uchiha Kai."
"Tsunade, you still underestimate me!" the Fourth Raikage snorted, though less violently than with Ōnoki.
"Yo yo, isn't this the lovelorn senpai, Tsunade Senju? Still on your hundred and first failed confession?" Killer Bee's voice echoed from the forest, his rapping style causing the Fourth Raikage's face to twitch.
He threw a lightning-charged kunai, which Killer Bee easily dodged, embedding it in a tree trunk with enough force to snap it in half.
"Shut your mouth!" the Fourth Raikage snorted, turning to Tsunade. "Two of the Sannin are here. Konoha takes this Uchiha Kai matter seriously."
"We want to know how Konoha plans to deal with this renegade, deemed a threat to the shinobi world by the Fourth Mizukage."
