Their participation in the tailed beast distribution was a testament to their strength and standing in the shinobi world.
However, after Kakuzu's attack, Takigakure's strength had significantly diminished.
Besides the Hero Water, their only remaining trump card was the tailed beast jinchuriki.
Now, Suien and Akahoshi had consumed all the Hero Water. The tailed beast jinchuriki was Takigakure's last resort.
"I'm willing to hand it over," Shibuki said suddenly.
His words caused an uproar among the Takigakure ninjas.
"Village Head Shibuki, the tailed beast is the foundation of our village! If we hand it over, our strength will be severely weakened!"
"Village Head Shibuki, please reconsider! If it's just money, we can all contribute!"
The scene became chaotic, with everyone shouting at once.
Without a Kage-level shinobi, cultivating a tailed beast jinchuriki had become a shortcut to power.
"Alright!" Shibuki raised his hand, silencing the crowd. He looked at Kai. "Uchiha Kai, I want to confirm something."
"Though Takigakure is isolated, rumors say you intend to collect all nine tailed beasts and that you conquered Kumogakure.
If we hand over the Seven-Tails, will you collect the other tailed beasts as well?"
The Takigakure ninjas who had spoken out earlier fell silent. They knew Shibuki had informed them of this.
Even Kumogakure, known for its military might among the Five Great Nations, had fallen to Uchiha Kai.
Takigakure stood no chance.
"Heh, Village Head Shibuki's information is far better than Suien's," Kai chuckled. "But even I don't know my own motives."
"Perhaps it's impulsive, perhaps fate, but I do collect tailed beasts when I feel like it. I'm too kind to watch them suffer."
Too kind? Everyone looked at him, remembering Suien and Akahoshi's deaths with lingering fear. If killing without hesitation was considered kindness, then there were no villains left in the world.
"Whew," Shibuki sighed, his eyes flickering as he looked at Itachi. "I think, as you said, Master, Itachi was deliberately captured by Suien.
Even Tōsei followed your orders. I believe the Seven-Tails' sealing vessel is in your possession."
Tōsei and the others looked uncomfortable. As Shibuki said, after Suien ordered them to take Itachi away, they had succumbed to coercion and bribery. After suffering at Itachi's hands, they believed Itachi's words and, hearing the explosion in the tree, they rushed to retrieve the Seven-Tails' sealing vessel before arriving to witness Akahoshi's defeat and Suien's escape.
"Brother, I brought what you asked for," Itachi said, a rare smile on his face. He landed beside Kai, producing an ancient-looking gourd.
The gourd was ornately carved with intricate patterns, similar to the one containing the Hero Water, but far more elaborate.
As soon as Kai touched it, a low growl echoed from within.
Bang!
Immense chakra erupted, causing the intricate seals on the gourd to glow brightly before cracking.
Spiderweb-like cracks spread across its surface, the seals rapidly dimming.
Shibuki was startled. "Master, this is the Seven-Tails breaking free! This is stronger than before! Please let us reseal it!"
"Hmph, Takigakure fools, you still want to seal me?" a booming voice echoed from within, laced with a chilling tone.
"I know you just fought a battle.
Even if you suppress this rebellion, you'll be severely weakened. I've been quiet, waiting for this opportunity. No one can stop me today."
BOOM!
A deafening collision echoed from within the gourd, louder than before.
The already cracked seals shattered further.
"Hahaha, you can't stop me this time! In a few minutes, I'll raze Takigakure!" the Seven-Tails, Chōmei, roared defiantly.
But as it prepared to break free, the stopper was pulled open.
"Alright, enough with the shouting. I'll let you out," Kai said, casually shaking the gourd. Chōmei was startled awake.
With the stopper removed, Chōmei burst out, its massive compound eyes widening as it saw the colossal Susanoo.
Among the nine tailed beasts, only two individuals had ever controlled them: Hashirama Senju, and Madara Uchiha.
Madara had used a similar technique.
This Susanoo was even larger than Chōmei, with three heads and six arms, just like Madara's.
Chōmei looked at Kai, urgently asking, "Are you Madara Uchiha?"
