"Kill me if I take another step?"
Chōmei was completely dumbfounded.
It hadn't expected the other three tailed beasts to say such a thing.
While the nine tailed beasts frequently clashed amongst themselves, they had always presented a united front against humanity.
This situation completely shattered its understanding of their dynamics.
"Seven-Tails, I advise you to stand down.
The Boss showed mercy earlier; otherwise, you wouldn't be alive right now," Isobu said, its usual playful demeanor replaced by a grave seriousness.
"And if a fellow tailed beast were to be killed by the Boss, wouldn't you rather die by our hands?"
Matatabi and Son Gokū didn't verbally agree, but their unwavering gazes locked onto Chōmei, conveying the same sentiment.
A heavy silence fell over the battlefield.
After several tense seconds, Chōmei's aggressive aura dissipated.
"I want to know why you follow him. Is it fear of his strength? Are you intimidated?"
"Remember, we never yielded to the Senju brat or that hateful Madara Uchiha. I still resist this enslavement. Have you all forgotten?"
Chōmei's words hung heavy in the air. The three tailed beasts exchanged a look before answering in unison, "No, you're wrong. We see the Old Man in him."
"And only he truly treats us as friends."
The Old Man? Chōmei was completely bewildered. Outsiders might not know, but Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki was like a parent to them.
Crucially, Hagoromo had once told them that one day, they would find their own true friends in the human world.
"These are the friends you found?" Chōmei finally asked, after a long, heavy silence.
The three tailed beasts remained silent, only nodding in unison.
With the dissipation of the immense chakra, the oppressive atmosphere also lifted.
Looking around the vast village, everyone except Uchiha Kai—Kakashi, Itachi, and the Takigakure ninjas—sat on the ground, utterly drained.
If the four tailed beasts had clashed, the village would have been utterly destroyed.
"Brother, don't we need to intervene?" Itachi asked, glancing at the tailed beasts with concern.
The near-disaster he had caused by bringing Chōmei into the village still weighed heavily on his mind.
"Relax, they won't fight," Kai said with a warm smile, ruffling Itachi's hair affectionately.
"You shouldn't have wandered off from the village alone. If we hadn't arrived in time, you might have been branded a traitor."
"Traitor?" Itachi dodged Kai's hand, glaring at him.
"You didn't tell me you were leaving! If I was branded a traitor, I could have just stayed with you, wouldn't that have been better?"
If the fans of the original Itachi knew about this interaction, they would probably be outraged at this blatant character derailment.
Kai raised an eyebrow. "Don't talk nonsense. Your father might beat you."
"Brother, Dad wouldn't hit me. He doesn't even know where I am," Itachi said smugly.
His arrogance was quickly cut short by a stern voice from behind.
"Itachi, you left the village without permission and spoke so disrespectfully. Don't you regret it?"
Fugaku Uchiha, along with Shisui, appeared silently behind Itachi.
Placing a hand on Itachi's shoulder, Fugaku looked at Obito.
"You awakened the Mangekyō as well?"
Obito, considered a late bloomer in the Uchiha clan, had only awakened his Sharingan in his mid-teens.
His sudden power-up was remarkable, both in the original story and in this situation, causing Fugaku to take notice.
Obito, having recently awakened his Mangekyō, was still not fully proficient in controlling its power.
Although the Mangekyō was closed, residual chakra lingered.
"Clan Head, Kai helped me awaken it," Obito said hesitantly, glancing at Kai.
"Don't worry. Besides you, the Clan Head and Shisui also possess the Mangekyō. Itachi will awaken his eventually," Kai said, patting Obito's shoulder.
Fugaku's expression changed drastically upon hearing this.
"Kai, you mean someone important to Itachi died?"
Madara Uchiha, the first Uchiha to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan, understood its drawbacks and the existence of the Eternal Mangekyō.
However, he had never intentionally created multiple Mangekyō Sharingan users.
This was due to several factors:
1. It would incite internecine conflict and strife within the Uchiha clan, potentially leading to a drastic decrease in their numbers.
2. Madara's ambition prevented him from allowing stronger Uchiha to emerge, as the Mangekyō Sharingan was their most potent ability.
3. Madara believed in the supremacy of individual strength.
Even the Uchiha Clan Head's awakening had been accidental. He didn't even know how to obtain the Eternal Mangekyō.
Successive Clan Heads kept this a secret to maintain their power.
"Kai, do you understand the consequences of your actions?" Fugaku asked, his voice tight with urgency.
Shisui, a more cautious strategist than Fugaku, also looked at Kai with concern.
In the original story, to prevent the Uchiha clan's coup, he had planned to use Kotoamatsukami on Fugaku.
Having witnessed the Mangekyō awakenings, Shisui had clearly deduced the implications.
However, awakening the Mangekyō wasn't easy; it required both innate talent and a pure bloodline.
