Chapter 267 - MSOC: Chapter 267

"Heh, don't worry.

Within the Uchiha clan, there are only a few I truly respect," Kai said, ruffling Itachi's hair with a smile.

"Itachi, if you ever want to awaken your Mangekyō, you can come to me."

Fugaku visibly relaxed at those words. After a moment's hesitation, he asked, "What about the child Mikoto is carrying? Would he have the same opportunity?"

"Him?" Kai raised an eyebrow, realizing he'd forgotten about Sasuke. In the original story, Sasuke was largely a supporting character in the early stages, with his genius largely overshadowed by Itachi's brilliance.

He only truly shone later, after inheriting Itachi's Mangekyō Sharingan.

Sadly, Itachi had only entrusted Amaterasu to Sasuke, leaving the incredibly powerful Tsukuyomi lost to history.

Kai, however, using the Enhanced Eye, had significantly strengthened Tsukuyomi, creating an illusion so realistic it could even deceive a Mangekyō Sharingan awakening.

"For your uncle's sake, I'll reluctantly agree," Kai said, wiping his nose. "Itachi, stop staring. I've already promised your father. I strongly suspect you'll be a mama's boy and won't even like girls."

"Brother, I'm not!" Itachi protested vehemently. "My brother doesn't have a name yet, Father. Why don't you let Brother Kai choose?"

"Let Kai choose?" Fugaku was taken aback. The ongoing Third Great Ninja War and the recent unrest in Konoha had left him little time to consider a name for his soon-to-be-born son.

Seeing Itachi's eagerness, Fugaku hesitated before saying, "You've been quite prominent lately, and your aunt is worried about you. Let Kai choose the name. Your brother might be proud of it someday."

"Is that alright?" Kai asked, wiping his nose. Seeing Itachi's intense gaze, he decided not to overthink it. "Sasuke."

"Sasuke? Uchiha Sasuke?" Itachi was momentarily stunned, then his eyes lit up. "Father, that's a great name! Sasuke will be like me, a powerful ninja."

Seeing Itachi's excitement, Shisui was taken aback. "Isn't that a bit rash? What if Aunt Mikoto doesn't like it?"

Shisui, a rising star in the Uchiha clan, had always been in the spotlight. He had a younger brother who deeply admired him—a genius, no less.

The feeling of being admired by a genius was indescribable.

However, Kai's sudden emergence had completely overturned this dynamic.

The spotlight had shifted, and Itachi's admiration for Kai was particularly hard for Shisui to accept. He had hoped that rescuing Itachi would allow him to surpass Kai in Itachi's eyes, re-establishing his position as the admired older brother.

But Kai had once again stolen the limelight, gaining yet another devoted follower. While having Obito, a late bloomer, admire him wasn't particularly impressive, having a Mangekyō Sharingan wielder as a devoted follower was a different matter entirely.

Shisui hoped to use this naming opportunity to subtly undermine Kai's influence.

"No, it seems Kai and Mikoto share the same preference for the name Sasuke," Fugaku said, a smile playing on his lips.

He had been hesitant himself, after all, this son wasn't born of an affair. If not for Kai saving Itachi, and Kai's recent prominence, Fugaku wouldn't have made this decision. He was relieved that it matched Mikoto's choice.

"Uncle, is Aunt Mikoto really sure?" Shisui pressed, his voice laced with urgency.

Fugaku frowned. "Shisui, Mikoto mentioned it before. She considered asking Kai to choose, and Sasuke is a good name."

"Why are you so concerned? Is there something you're not telling me?"

"No… nothing. I just don't want Uncle and Aunt to dislike the name and disappoint Kai," Shisui explained hastily.

"Heh, Shisui, don't worry too much. If Uncle and Aunt don't like it, we can change it later. I don't mind," Kai said with a chuckle, his gaze softening as he looked at Shisui.

He understood Shisui's ambition and his internal struggles to change the Uchiha clan's trajectory. He just hoped Shisui wouldn't do anything rash.

"Boss, are you finished? We're starving! You've been traveling, and we've all lost weight. Shouldn't you cook us something?" Isobu's voice suddenly cut through the air.

Isobu leaped onto Kai's shoulder, nuzzling its head against his neck.

Shisui, the Uchiha, and the Takigakure ninjas were all startled to see the four tailed beasts reduced to the size of large dogs. Tailed beasts were, to most, terrifying creatures, their appearances synonymous with disaster.

Yet, Kai had tamed them, almost to the point of being cuddly.

"Alright, you're covered in scales. Do you intend to suffocate me?" Kai said, exasperated.

"Are the ingredients ready?"

"Ready!" Isobu perked up, jumping down and looking towards a massive, snow-white creature by the lake.

"Wow, they caught the lake's king!"

"Hmph, you should know who caught it. In the water, there's nothing that can beat Isobu."

"This king fish has been attacking villagers. It's a good thing it was caught."

"But do tailed beasts eat? Why do they look so excited and keep yawning?"
