Chapter 42 - Chapter 43.

Later, this mentor told other colleagues about it, and the mentors said, "We already knew."

"Ellis didn't realize it himself, did he?"

"Of course he didn't realize."

"... The guy is retarded as hell."

"He's not the only one who's slow."A mentor sighed, "That demon himself probably didn't realize that he had already taken Ellis as his own territory."

They recalled in unison seeing Nyx strutting around on Ellis's couch one night with a pillow and a blanket wrapped around his tail in a complete 'this is my house' manner.

And Ellis? He just glanced over, and ultimately said nothing, acquiescing. It was probably the strangest, most subtle, yet most natural relationship ever.

"So, what did you do in the Abyss yesterday?"Ellis asked absently as he flipped through the book in his hands.

Nyx walked next to him, wagging his tail, a smirk quirking the corners of his mouth, "To pick up a few things."

Ellis didn't look up, "What kind of stuff?"

Nyx: "Nothing important, just a little something."

The two walked right past the tutor's office, a tutor had just stepped out and saw these two walking side by side.Ellis had his eyes focused on his book, while Nyx was talking and twirling his fingers around the edge of Ellis' cloak in boredom.

The tutor subconsciously stopped and silently observed their pattern of getting along.

When Nix talked to others, he was always playful and flirty, and from time to time he liked to use some exaggerated tone and gestures, but to Ellis, his tone, although casual, carried a subtle sense of familiarity, like ... like they had been getting along like this for a long, long time.

Ellis, on the other hand, was actually completely used to the demon hanging around him, and even when Nyx's tail occasionally swept across the hem of his coat, he didn't frown at all, as if it was perfectly normal.

"What the hell is this 'gadget' of yours?"Ellis closed the book and finally looked up at Nyx.

Nyx blinked his red eyes and smiled mysteriously, "If you want to know, why don't you make a deal with me?"

Ellis looked at him and said calmly, "You keep messing around and you'll get one of this week's pranks."

"Oh Ellis, how could you do this to me."Nyx sighed exaggeratedly, "I'm your most loyal and charming contracted demon."

Ellis gave him a faint look, "Loyal?"

Nyx shrugged, "Fine, at least I'm the most charming."

The mentor standing in the office doorway, "..."

He silently took a step back, feeling like he'd stumbled into a scene he shouldn't have.

At noon that day, the tutors of the academy were eating in the cafeteria when they suddenly heard a familiar voice ringing out, "So you're researching this thing, what exactly are you doing it for?"

They subconsciously looked over, and sure enough, it was Nyx.

Nyx was holding a piece of cake in his hand, leisurely forking a small bite, while Ellis was sitting across from him, calmly flipping through the research notes in his hand as if he was completely ignoring the demon's presence.

"Writing a book."Ellis replied briefly.

Nyx's eyes widened, "You write books?Books about magic?"

Ellis: "Uh-huh."

Nyx suddenly took on a teasing and curious look, "So, I'll get to see books you write circulating in the magic community in the future?"

Ellis glanced at him, his tone calm, "You might be able to use it in the future as well, if you take your knowledge of magic seriously."

Nyx: "Tch, you really don't know how to coax demons at all."

Ellis: "I don't need to coax demons."

Nyx helplessly forks a large bite of cake and chews it while grumbling vaguely, "No wonder you're single."

Ellis: "..."

The surrounding mentors cover their mouths and force a laugh when they hear this.

"So ... Nyx is actually so casual here with Ellis?"Someone asked in a low voice.

"I remember him never talking like this in front of other mentors before."Another mentor raised an eyebrow.

"That means he's special to Ellis?"Everyone fell into a subtle silence.
