Chapter 347 - 347. Harvest

The remaining areas housed the Magnezone, Jolteon, Elekid, and Vikavolt populations.

Among these Pokémon, Jacob liked all of them except for Elekid. It wasn't that Electivire wasn't powerful—Jacob simply preferred the other three, especially Magnezone and Vikavolt.

Magnezone's Steel and Electric typing covered attributes Jacob currently lacked.

Similarly, Vikavolt's Bug and Electric typing also filled gaps in his team composition.

However, both of these Pokémon had one significant drawback: they both required specific conditions to evolve, which was the most frustrating aspect for Jacob.

Ordinary evolutionary items were easy to obtain, but S-rank quality ones were extremely difficult to find. Although his older brother possessed one, Jacob would absolutely not take it from him.

Jacob had thought this through carefully. Even if he found a high-potential Magnemite or Grubbin, he would choose to give them to his older brother. He already had enough high-potential Pokémon, while his older brother only had a handful of Pokémon he could rely on.

His older brother had already sacrificed so much for him—now it was his turn to give back.

...

The first area Jacob visited was the forest farm where Vikavolt were raised. Vikavolt had always been one of Jacob's favorite Electric-type Pokémon. Although its Speed was low in competitive battles, its astonishingly high Special Attack stat of 145 made it devastatingly powerful.

Among all Electric-type Pokémon, it was second only to the Special Attack powerhouse Xurkitree and Mega Ampharos, and matched Thundurus in its Therian Form—even surpassing Miraidon in raw Special Attack.

In short, excluding Ultra Beasts, Legendary Pokémon, and Mega Evolutions, Vikavolt ranked first among Electric-types in Special Attack. How could such a strong Pokémon even exist?

Walking into the forest farm where Grubbin were raised, besides a very few Vikavolt flying overhead, Jacob noticed that most Grubbin were clinging to tree trunks, using their strong mandibles to peel off bark and drink tree sap with satisfied expressions on their faces.

"This particular tree species is Grubbin's favorite. The sap it produces is sweet and delicious—their most preferred food source. To properly raise Grubbin, we specifically invited botanists to conduct on-site surveys and transplant these trees here."

"Moreover, the fallen leaves from these trees are also the favorite food of Grubbin's evolution, Charjabug."

"To raise Grubbin successfully, you must first cultivate these trees."

...

It was clear that the receptionist possessed extremely high professional knowledge and was very familiar with the Grubbin species.

Jacob nodded, then crouched down to check each Pokémon's potential one by one. After examining them all, the final result left Jacob quite disappointed—none of these many Grubbin or Charjabug had reached Heavenly King-level potential.

This made Jacob sigh. It seemed he was fated not to have a Vikavolt.

"Is there no Pokémon here that satisfies you?" the receptionist asked after hearing Jacob's sigh.

"Yeah, their potential is a bit low," Jacob replied with a nod.

"Does Dr. Jacob particularly like Grubbin Pokémon?"

"Yes, I do like them quite a bit. Grubbin's final evolution, Vikavolt, is a very powerful Electric-type Pokémon. Although its Speed is somewhat slow, its Special Attack is strong enough to compensate," Jacob explained.

"Dr. Asher, although there aren't any Grubbin here that meet your standards, the breeding facility's Incubation Room still has a batch of Grubbin eggs. Perhaps you'll find one suitable there. After we finish visiting all the areas, I'll take you to check them out."

"Okay, there are only a few areas left anyway. We'll finish looking at them quickly and then head to the Incubation Room." Jacob nodded in agreement. The areas he was currently visiting contained already-hatched Pokémon—eggs were uniformly stored in the Incubation Room, where he might discover some high-potential Pokémon.

...

Next, Jacob quickly moved through the remaining areas as if on a rapid shopping trip.

Among the Eevee population, he had an unexpected discovery—a Heavenly King-level Eevee.

This made Jacob mentally take note, planning to purchase this Eevee as a gift for his future nephew.

Eevee, being a gentle Pokémon, was ideal as a starter Pokémon for new Trainers. Because Eevee's genes were unstable, it also had numerous evolution options available.

Aside from this Eevee, Jacob didn't see any other Pokémon with potential reaching Heavenly King-level or higher.

"Let's go check out the Incubation Room," Jacob said.

"Okay, Dr. Asher, this way please."

...

This time, Jacob slowed his pace, walking side by side with the receptionist toward the Incubation Room.

Along the way, Jacob asked many questions about the cultivation and breeding of Electric-type Pokémon, and the receptionist was able to answer most of them accurately, which made Jacob regard her with newfound respect.

Such a high level of theoretical knowledge wasn't something an ordinary receptionist should possess.

"Miss, if I may ask—which university did you graduate from?" Jacob inquired.

"I graduated from Magic City University with a master's degree."

"No wonder. If I ever open a breeding facility in the future, I'll definitely ask for your assistance. I hope Miss won't refuse when that time comes."

"Dr. Jacob, you're too kind. I'm currently an employee of the Mistvale River Group."

...

The two chatted as they walked, and soon arrived at the Incubation Room.

As soon as he stepped into the Incubation Room, Jacob spotted the group of wealthy young people he had encountered on the boat earlier. They were examining the Pokémon eggs inside the facility.

This time, Jacob wasn't wearing a mask, so they recognized him immediately. Whispering among themselves, everyone's gaze converged on Jacob.

"That's Jacob! He's so handsome in person—even more handsome than in videos."

"Wait, doesn't that person look like the one we met on the boat?"

"It really does look like him."

"So we've been traveling on the same boat as Jacob this whole time. I should have gone up and asked for an autograph."

...

Jacob ignored the crowd and busied himself with examining the Pokémon eggs in the Incubation Room. He looked very quickly, scanning one egg before moving to the next.

However, when Jacob examined one particular small Pokémon egg, he paused.

Fortune still favored him—this trip had definitely not been in vain.

"Please prepare this Pokémon egg for me. Oh, and can I pay to select another Pokémon egg as well?" Jacob asked.

"Of course. According to our regulations, all first-time VIP visitors to the Mistvale River Hydroelectric Station can purchase one Pokémon egg. This particular egg is our gift to you, and you're welcome to choose one additional egg to purchase."

"That's excellent," Jacob nodded with satisfaction.
