Itachi's eyes widened in shock, and he fell silent. Kai didn't press further, simply meeting Itachi's gaze. He was determined—he would have Shisui's left eye, the one Itachi now held.
Both of Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan possessed Kotoamatsukami, but Kai had already claimed the right eye from Danzo. Still, there was a crucial difference between the two.
The right eye's Kotoamatsukami had a shorter cooldown but could only alter a person's will for a brief time. The left eye's version, though it required a much longer cooldown, could permanently rewrite a person's intentions—without them ever realizing it.
Compared to the right, Kai valued the left eye's Kotoamatsukami far more. He had to have it.
After a long, heavy silence, Itachi finally lifted his head. His left eye—the Mangekyō with its triangular pinwheel—began to spin wildly. A jet-black, one-eyed crow emerged, flapping over to settle on Kai's shoulder.
"Kai-sensei, please… take care of Sasuke for me. Farewell." With those words, Itachi's body scattered into a flock of crows, vanishing into the dense forest.
Kai gently removed the crow from his shoulder and sealed it away in a scroll.

"This… should work, right?" Kai muttered, a hint of uncertainty in his voice.
He glanced down. Resting on the bloodline fusion scroll were both Uchiha Fugaku's Mangekyō Sharingan and Uchiha Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan.
Whether it was Tsukuyomi from Fugaku or Kotoamatsukami from Shisui, Kai had no intention of giving up either. And the fusion scroll's instructions only required fully manifested kekkei genkai—there was no limit on quantity.
"Alright, let's give it a try." Without further hesitation, Kai formed a series of hand seals. "Seal!"

"I wonder how fusing two pairs of Mangekyō Sharingan with the Tenseigan will change things…" Kai murmured.
He activated his Tenseigan state. His irises were still the familiar blue and gold, but now, three silver tomoe spun in each pupil.
In the next moment, the tomoe whirled and linked end to end—Mangekyō Sharingan state!
The pattern of Kai's Mangekyō resembled Uchiha Madara's, but his was silver, and the tomoe formed an unbroken ring—no gaps in the center.
As he felt the new power coursing through him, Kai's right eye contracted. A jet-black flame burst forth, igniting everything his gaze touched.

A massive water dragon lunged at the black flames, but it had no effect whatsoever.
The black fire spread rapidly. Suddenly, the Mangekyō in Kai's right eye, which had been spinning clockwise, paused—then began to rotate counterclockwise.
As if drawn by some unseen force, the rampaging black flames were sucked back into his right pupil.

Unquenchable flames—just a touch spelled utter destruction.
This was the ocular power inherited from Uchiha Fugaku's Mangekyō Sharingan!

Kai exhaled in relief. No more worrying about going blind from overusing his ocular powers.

Gazing at his newly evolved eyes, Kai murmured, "With the Mangekyō fused into the Tenseigan, it doesn't really make sense to call it just 'Tenseigan' anymore. I suppose…"
He paused, thoughtful, then gave a helpless smile. "Ah, naming things really isn't my strong suit. Let's just call it… the Mangekyō Tenseigan."
