Chapter 1 - Awakening

When he opened his eyes, everything was white—the room, the bedsheets, the lights, the ceiling.

This must be a hospital… but why am I here?

My head hurts so badly… what happened to me?

What's going on…

On the hospital bed, the murmuring boy drifted back into sleep once more.

No one knew how much time passed—perhaps just a moment, perhaps an entire day.

A man and a woman entered the ward. Standing beside the sleeping boy, the two of them fell into silence.

After quite a while, the young man finally spoke.

"Mother, my little brother is fine now. He should be able to leave the hospital in a day or two. You should go home and rest—I'll stay and take care of him."

"Then I'll leave him to you. Make sure you take good care of your brother"

"Mm!"

With that, the middle-aged woman picked up the small red handbag resting on the chair and left the ward to go home and rest.

The moment the man and woman entered, the soul that had fallen asleep again was already awake—and it had clearly caught several crucial words: 'little brother,'.

Just as the soul intended to keep pretending to sleep, the young man's voice rang out.

"Get up. I know you're faking it."

The boy opened his eyes. He didn't say anything, only looked innocently at the man called Ryoga—his biological older brother in this world.

"Shogo, I already cleaned up the mess from your fighting incident this time. I don't want to see you making Mother worry again because of things like this."

"Got it."

Ryoga stared at Shogo in surprise. He was clearly caught off guard—this was the first time his younger brother had answered him so obediently.

After a moment of silence, Ryoga's tone softened considerably.

"It's because of the basketball club, right? I've already heard about it."

Lying on the hospital bed, Shogo didn't respond. Neither admitting nor denying—it was tacit acceptance.

"If you can't play basketball anymore, then we'll play tennis instead. As a member of the noble Haizaki family, tennis suits you better."

"No need. I'll keep playing basketball. But I need you to help me with something, Brother—I want to transfer schools."

"…I see. Are you sure?"

"I'm sure."

"Alright. I'll handle it as soon as possible. Which school do you want to go to?"

"Anywhere is fine. You decide."

"Alright, leave it to me. You're basically recovered anyway, so I'll head out first. There's a lot going on at the club. I'll be going now."

"Mm. Goodbye."

"Cut it out. Go home early tonight—don't make Mother worry."

After the young man left, the boy lying on the bed slowly sat up and looked out at the bustling city beyond the hospital window.

Sorting through more than ten years' worth of memories in his head, he finally reached a conclusion.

This was another world. He had transmigrated here. This was a manga-adapted world, and his name in this world was Haizaki Shogo—one of the regular members of Teiko Junior High's basketball team, wearing jersey number 8.

However, that was in the past. Now, he was a man who had been ordered—forced—to leave the basketball club. The reason? The original owner of this body rarely participated in practice, and the team had just gained a newcomer with even greater potential—a handsome guy named Kise Ryouta.

So… I'm Haizaki Shogo now? The good-for-nothing side character from the manga, the one completely outclassed by rookie Kise Ryouta? And because of that, I vented my frustration by getting into a fight and landed myself in the hospital?

Damn it! Is this really how it has to be? After finally winning the lottery of transmigration, I end up as a universally hated major side character? Are you kidding me?!

Where's my Zone?

Just thinking about the future ending made the current Haizaki Shogo feel sick to his stomach—like he'd swallowed something unspeakable.

Thankfully, he still had a Pillage ability. Bullying small fries shouldn't be a problem, at least.

Was this supposed to be a consolation prize?

Just as Haizaki Shogo thought about his Pillage skill,

a translucent data panel suddenly appeared before his eyes.

Name: Haizaki Shogo

Height: 188 cm (Growing)

Weight: 78 kg (Growing)

Position: Small Forward (Growing)

Jersey Number: None

Strength: High

Agility: High

Stamina: Medium

Jumping Ability: High

Explosive Power: High

Special Skill 1: Pillage

Description: "Seizes" another person's skill and converts it into one's own style and rhythm, unconsciously disrupting the opponent's flow and preventing them from using the same technique again.

Special Skill 2: Devour (Advanced Soul Fusion Skill)

Description: "Devours" another person's skill and turns it into a permanent ability. Each devour consumes 1 Devour Energy Point.

Remaining Energy Points: 3

Haizaki Shogo thought he was seeing things. He reached out and touched the virtual panel—only for it to vanish immediately.

But when he focused his mind again, the panel reappeared.

Haizaki Shogo froze. A bug? A cheat? Where's the old grandpa mentor?

Thus, inside the hospital room, Haizaki Shogo conducted all kinds of experiments on the virtual data panel. In the end, he reached a conclusion: the panel had no actual functions at all—it could only record his physical condition in real time.

For example, after jumping around in the ward until he was exhausted, his stamina would drop from Medium to Low.

When he first noticed this, Haizaki Shogo thought his abilities had weakened permanently. But after resting properly, his stamina returned to Medium.

Seeing this change, he finally understood—the virtual data panel had only one purpose: real-time recording of his physical stats.

Moreover, it didn't work on other people, and no one else could see it. Could this even count as a cheat?

Haizaki Shogo felt a bit depressed. Wasn't this cheat way too weak? How was it any different from the ability of that female coach at Seirin High?

After thinking it through carefully, there was a difference—his was more detailed and more real-time.

Well… aside from those two points, he couldn't think of any other differences.

Fortunately, there was still that final skill—and it made Haizaki Shogo's eyes light up. It seemed he still had a transmigrator's advantage.

Three Devour Energy Points meant three chances to devour someone else's abilities.

Would these chances be used for the Zone? The Emperor Eye?

Just imagining it made Haizaki Shogo grin from ear to ear.

The Generation of Miracles… how interesting.

Your Haizaki Shogo, is no longer the same. Shouldn't the Generation of Miracles become even more exciting now?

And you—the guy who ordered this menace to leave the club—just wait.

We'll settle this sooner or later!
