Chapter 617: Fifth Division, Taming the Dragon!
After that, Shirahoshi explained everything to Ryuunosuke.
She had originally been inside the Kun's mouth, quietly waiting for his instructions. Shirahoshi had always been the gentle, silent type, so even that kind of waiting did not make her restless.
But then, in that moment, a strange fluctuation brushed against her senses.
"You've finally arrived!"
The message did not come from the air.
It came from inside her mind.
Shirahoshi froze, startled, and instinctively stood up.
Then she discovered something that made her heart skip.
She had legs.
Not an illusion. Not a dream. Real legs, slender and graceful, supporting her weight as naturally as if they had always been there.
And at the same time, the urge to go to Ghost (Demon) Island grew stronger and stronger, like a tide rising in her blood.
Shirahoshi understood immediately. That voice was not hers. It had to belong to some existence on Ghost Island.
After hearing her explanation, Ryuunosuke also frowned slightly, puzzled.
Neptune had once told him about mermaids gaining legs.
The method, according to Neptune, was to find Shirahoshi's lover.
But it was obvious Shirahoshi did not have anyone like that right now. No one who could be called a match, let alone a lover.
So the reason she gained legs could only be this strange power.
But what kind of power could influence Shirahoshi, the Poseidon?
Ryuunosuke did not linger on the mystery.
Even Shirahoshi, the one experiencing it, did not know the true reason. With what little information he had, forcing an answer would be pointless.
"Let's go," Ryuunosuke said, decisive. "We'll take a look."
"What exactly is this so called Island of Gods?"
The group headed straight for Ghost Island.
Kobayashi, however, stayed behind.
She sat down on the ground with an expression so bored it looked like she might start counting pebbles.
"Sigh. I'll stay here and keep watch."
"I've got a bad feeling something's going to happen."
Unlike the others, Kobayashi had originally existed as the Dragon Hunter Pirates' mascot. With Tohru and others joining, she gained a certain level of fighting ability.
But most days, it was still just two food addicts and a daydreaming girl drifting through life.
So their main job on the ship remained the same.
Mascots.
Boom!
A massive figure dropped from the sky, kicking up a thick cloud of dust and shaking the ground like an earthquake.
"Am I still too late?"
A loud, arrogant voice rolled out from the dust.
"Captain Ryuunosuke already left?"
Kobayashi blinked.
"Hm?"
As the dust slowly cleared, she finally saw the person standing there.
Queen.
One of the Three Calamities of the Beasts Pirates.
Behind Queen stood his men, and a large number of modified pirate crew members, their bodies clearly altered and reinforced.
They came in force.
And judging by their posture, they were not here for a friendly visit.
Kobayashi's eyes narrowed.
They were definitely coming for Ryuunosuke.
Not that it mattered.
Even if all of them jumped Ryuunosuke together, it would still be a joke.
Queen looked at Kobayashi, then spoke with casual contempt.
"You're a Dragon Hunter Pirate, yeah?"
"But I've never heard of you. No information at all."
He smirked.
"So what are you? Some nobody they keep around?"
Kobayashi pointed to herself, deadpan.
"Me?"
"Yeah, I'm basically a nobody on the Dragon Hunter Pirates' ship."
Then her tone shifted slightly, as if she remembered she had a script to follow.
"But since you don't know me, I'll introduce myself properly."
"My name is Kobayashi."
"And I'm the captain of the Fifth Division of the Dragon Hunter Pirates!"
Queen stared for a second, then burst out laughing.
"The Fifth Division?"
"Hahaha! The whole world knows the Dragon Hunter Pirates only have four official squads!"
He counted them off like he was mocking a child.
"First Division, Nightraid."
"Second Division, Phantom Troupe."
"Third Division, Akatsuki."
"Fourth Division, Seven Deadly Sins."
He leaned forward, grin widening.
"So when did some Fifth Division crawl out of the sea?"
While he spoke, Queen's body began to change.
Muscles swelled. Bone structure shifted. His shape expanded violently.
The Ancient Zoan Brachiosaurus Fruit awakened its full presence, and in the blink of an eye, a towering brachiosaurus stood before them.
The aura pouring off him was far heavier than his human form.
Zoan Devil Fruits really could flip a person's life upside down.
Kobayashi stared at the massive creature, then sighed.
"Dragon?"
"This thing dares to call itself a dragon?"
She lifted a finger, remembering something important.
"Oh right, I forgot to tell you."
"Our Fifth Division are dragon tamers."
Then she glanced to the side.
"Kanna, go handle it."
"That girl Tohru doesn't know her own strength."
"And the captain hasn't said we're wiping out the entire Beasts Pirates yet."
"If we can spare his life, then spare it."
Kobayashi climbed onto a protruding rock and sat down like she was watching a festival.
Her voice was calm, almost lazy.
Queen's expression twisted.
"You think you can slow me down with women?"
He laughed, but the laugh sounded sharp.
"Hahaha! Don't you know who I am?"
"She's just a greenhorn and she dares to mouth off like that in front of me!"
Then his grin turned cruel.
"But fine. I'll admit it."
"With the Dragon Hunter Pirates' name behind you, it makes sense you'd be arrogant."
He lowered his massive head.
"So let me see if your so called dragon taming is actually worthy of the name!"
Queen charged straight at Kobayashi.
His enormous body slammed forward with terrifying momentum, and then, using the impact, he shifted direction with insane agility.
It was hard to believe something that massive could move like that.
His tail whipped out like a cannon swing, smashing toward Kobayashi.
If someone took that head on, even with Armament Haki or a powerful body, they would still be badly injured.
And Kobayashi's personal combat ability was not that high.
If she ate that hit directly, she would either die or come close enough that the difference would feel insulting.
Bang!
A deep, muffled impact thundered through the air.
Queen's eyes widened, disbelief flooding his face.
Because his tail was blocked.
With one hand.
Kanna stood there, calm, casual, and completely unbothered, gripping the brachiosaurus tail like it was a rope.
Then Kanna spoke, sounding almost annoyed.
"Hey. Aren't you fighting the wrong person?"
"Kobayashi just told you I'd deal with you."
She tightened her grip slightly.
"It's really rude to lay a hand on Kobayashi like that."
Kanna flicked her arm.
Queen's massive tail was thrown aside, and the force carried Queen's entire body with it.
This was after Queen had transformed with an Ancient Zoan.
That made it even more ridiculous.
Boom!
The next moment, Queen crashed into rubble, smashing stone and dust into the air.
All the pirates who had been expecting Queen to crush the three girls into paste froze.
Their faces went pale.
Their expressions looked like they had seen a ghost.
This was not just a difference in strength.
This was a difference in existence.
Kanna move just now was obviously not even close to her full power.
To put it bluntly, it felt like she was playing with them.
Queen, however, did not see it as play.
He only felt humiliation.
Losing face in front of his underlings was bad enough.
But to make it worse, that big idiot Jack was here too.
Queen's teeth ground.
No matter what, he had to get that face back.
