Chapter 622: Heading to the Island of Gods!
"Take that idiot Queen back first!"
Jack's face was dark as thunder.
"Seriously. We did not even scratch the enemy, and we almost got ourselves wiped out."
"And move faster!"
The moment Jack finished speaking, he broke into a sprint.
Despite his massive frame, his speed was terrifying. In only a few breaths, Jack vanished from the area.
The sudden decision left the remaining pirates baffled.
Still, none of them dared to hesitate. They hurried to lift the unconscious men, especially Queen, and dragged them away as quickly as they could.
In no time, the Beasts Pirates disappeared along with their injured.
…
"Alright, I understand."
Ryuunosuke's voice came through the Dragon Hunting Order, calm and decisive.
"Bring it back. Give it to Nojiko when we return to the ship."
"Yes."
"Also, have everyone head over. Let the Shimotsuki clan handle the affairs of Wano Country from here."
"We have already laid the foundation."
"Understood, Captain. We are on our way," Kobayashi replied.
"I will notify the others as soon as possible."
She ended the call.
Escanor glanced at her, curiosity written plainly on his face.
"Miss Kobayashi… how can you freely use the power inside you?"
"Do not call me Miss Kobayashi. Just Kobayashi," she said with a smile.
"We are partners on the same ship. There is no need to be that formal."
"My power was sealed by me in the first place, so I can use it freely."
Then she looked at Escanor carefully.
"Mr. Escanor likely used a special ability similar to what the captain used before, something like a constraint and an oath."
"That would explain why you face such heavy restrictions."
"Constraints and oaths?" Escanor muttered, blinking. "I thought it was because of my magic."
He scratched his head, a little awkward.
Escanor was not talkative by nature, but walking in silence felt strangely uncomfortable.
So he forced himself to find topics.
Before long, he and Kobayashi were talking in a steady rhythm, and the group arrived at Ghost Island.
"Captain!"
The moment they landed, Kobayashi noticed the Phantom Troupe had already arrived.
Their speed really was outrageous.
Ryuunosuke did not waste time.
"Kobayashi. You said on the phone that Roy changed again. What exactly was he like?"
"Specifically…" Kobayashi shrugged. "I cannot really say."
"I only felt he was stronger than before."
"Lilith showed up before we could even test him properly."
"Then he got killed by brother Escanor."
"And Roy ran away too."
She spread her hands as if to say, That is all I have.
Ryuunosuke had always cared about the Guardians.
The problem was simple.
Their base was almost impossible to find.
Even Morgans, who had been investigating for a long time, had not found a single real clue.
They either drifted across the sea or used spatial abilities to teleport.
No one knew their exact location.
Otherwise, Ryuunosuke's first target would have been those Guardians.
Adam's location was known, but Ryuunosuke was not ready to confront Adam's true body yet.
A clone had been difficult enough before.
Facing the real body now would be dangerous.
And even though there were ways to revive, Ryuunosuke understood that revival was not absolute.
If someone was imprisoned instead of killed, there would be no resurrection.
And if Adam destroyed their souls completely, there was a high chance they would not come back at all.
That was why he chose to come here first.
And unexpectedly, they had found new clues.
"Fine. We will leave it there," Ryuunosuke said with a smile.
"Once the others arrive, what is hidden here might be of great help to everyone."
Kobayashi looked toward the side and noticed a passage.
"Is that the path to the Island of Gods?"
She tried to sense it.
Nothing.
No fluctuations at all.
It looked like a completely man made passageway.
Was this place truly special?
"Yes," Ryuunosuke replied.
"And according to Koushirou, there is a special civilization here."
"A civilization called God."
He sounded almost amused.
"Captain."
A crack of lightning split the air, and Enel appeared in an instant.
Ryuunosuke looked at him.
"So. Do you have an answer yet?"
"I went down to check," Enel said immediately. "The water is fresh water, not seawater."
"And all the way down to the underground cavern, it is fresh water."
"On the other side, there is the sea."
"But how the fresh water and seawater are isolated like this… I still cannot tell."
Enel had entered the passage himself.
He discovered the strange phenomenon only after touching the water.
This was supposed to lead to the White Dragon.
White dragons only appeared in the depths of the ocean.
So the presence of fresh water here was unsettling.
"Fresh water…" Ryuunosuke repeated, eyes narrowing slightly.
He thought for a moment, but did not speak further.
Seeing him fall silent, the others also stayed quiet.
Soon, members of the other squads arrived one after another.
"Captain, are we going in now?" Meliodas asked, staring at the passage with open curiosity.
Even Meliodas could not sense anything inside.
No special energy. No obvious danger.
Just ordinary fresh water.
"Then we go in together," Ryuunosuke said.
"Let us see what this so called Island of God really is."
He jumped first.
The others followed without hesitation, dropping into the passage one after another.
Soon, they reached the underground cavern.
The space was enormous.
Even if every combat member of the Dragon Hunter Pirates gathered here, it would still be able to hold them.
"Captain," Najenda said, voice steady. "Once we enter the water here, we will encounter the White Dragon."
"Should we go straight in?"
Ryuunosuke did not answer immediately.
He looked to the side.
"Shirahoshi?"
Since arriving, Shirahoshi had been unusually quiet.
Her expression looked troubled, as if she had sensed something she could not explain.
Ryuunosuke wanted her opinion first.
"The White Dragon is nothing to worry about," Shirahoshi said, nodding.
"Our physical strength can withstand it."
"And once you are inside, you should reach the destination in a short time."
"In the vast ocean, nothing is faster than the White Dragon."
"Alright," Ryuunosuke said, a small smile forming.
"Let us go."
He leapt into the water.
The instant his body touched the surface, a powerful pull appeared out of nowhere.
The calm water twisted.
A whirlpool opened right where he entered.
One after another, the others followed him into the vortex, vanishing into the spinning current.
