Chapter 621 - Chapter 621: So You Want to Die?!

Chapter 621: So You Want to Die?!

Kobayashi's attacks turned hazy, almost unreal.

Even Kanna and Tohru, watching from the side, could barely track her movements.

"Kobayashi is in danger," Tohru said.

In the next breath, Tohru shifted into her dragon form and lunged forward.

The moment Kanna saw her move, Kanna transformed too and began charging power on the spot. A terrifying mass of energy gathered in her mouth, swelling higher and higher until it felt like the air itself was trembling.

Boom!

The blast swallowed Lilith whole.

Kanna did not fear hitting Kobayashi by mistake.

With Kobayashi's dragon taming power, she was basically immune to dragon type attacks.

Boom boom boom boom!

The bombardment continued, and the entire battlefield vanished behind a curtain of dust.

Whoosh.

A sharp wind swept through.

The dust and fog were torn apart.

Vines surged out from behind Lilith and twisted together into a dense shield. The barrier covered her completely.

Kanna's long range blast and Tohru's close range rush had both been blocked.

Lilith's eyes narrowed.

"Your attacks are dangerous."

"But like I said earlier."

"As long as you cannot kill me immediately…"

"Then I will kill you."

At that moment, a new presence walked straight into the A T field.

Lilith snapped her head around.

"Who?"

This was inside an A T field.

How could anyone enter without breaking it, without even disturbing it?

"I'm Escanor," the man said calmly. "A member of the Fourth Division of the Dragon Hunter Pirates."

"Sorry. I got lost and ended up here."

He glanced at the battlefield like he had wandered into someone else's backyard argument.

"And since I happened to run into your fight…"

His smile curved, strange and sharp.

"So you want to die, right?"

It was already afternoon.

Escanor's aura was almost nonexistent, like an ordinary person.

No, he looked worse than an ordinary person right now. Frail. Unimpressive.

Yet Lilith felt it.

A clean, unmistakable threat of death.

"Escanor…"

Lilith's expression tightened.

"I know you. The Sun of the Dragon Hunter Pirates."

"But the Sun Fruit you carry came from me."

"You think you can attack me with that kind of energy…"

Slash.

Before she could finish, Escanor's massive axe came down.

Lilith's body split in two.

The moment the severed halves hit the ground, they turned into dust and scattered.

Escanor tilted his head, almost amused.

"I wonder," he said lightly, "do you really think that kind of energy can protect you?"

As he spoke, his aura began to boil.

The Sun Sun Fruit awakened within him, and the power pouring out was violent, oppressive, and scorching.

With the giant axe on his shoulder, Escanor walked forward step by step.

He looked like a demon god crawling out of hell, wearing a human skin as a joke.

"What is this energy?!" Lilith's voice rang out, frantic as she reformed.

"Damn it!"

"Why do all of you carry power that surpasses this world?"

"This energy should not be allowed to exist here!"

Kobayashi had already returned to the side, sitting on Tohru's lap as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Escanor had moved.

That meant Kobayashi had nothing left to do.

"Beyond the energy of this world?" Escanor asked, puzzled. "Isn't that normal?"

He took another step and appeared directly in front of Lilith.

Their faces were almost touching.

"And you don't seem like you belong to this world either."

"Impossible!"

"Go to hell!"

Lilith lashed out.

Countless vines erupted and shot toward Escanor, whipping and stabbing like living spears.

At the same time, a long spear appeared in her hand.

She swung with all her strength, aiming to pierce him through.

Slash.

Escanor blocked the vines as if brushing aside weeds.

The spear did land, but only barely. It scraped his skin, leaving a shallow wound that looked almost insulting.

Escanor exhaled like he was disappointed.

"Is that it?"

"That's… really too weak."

He raised his axe.

Scorching light exploded.

Lilith was swallowed in brilliance.

She did not even have time to scream.

In an instant, she turned into ash.

"Escanor, Roy got away," Kobayashi said, voice calm. "Aren't you going to chase him?"

"If he ran, he ran," Escanor replied.

He deactivated the Sun Sun Fruit's power and returned to his normal state.

The shift was almost comical.

Without knowing him, no one would take this version of Escanor seriously. He looked like a weakling who could not lift his own weapon.

"By the way," he added, glancing around, "where's the captain and everyone else?"

"The captain and the others went to Ghost Island," Kobayashi answered.

"I stayed behind to watch in case anyone tried to bother them."

"And we ended up running into a big one."

She sighed.

Fighting like this was getting boring.

She really had grown used to living a normal life.

"Then I'll head over first," Escanor said. "I'll leave this to Miss Kobayashi."

He scratched his head, embarrassed.

"I… I don't think I know the way."

Even with Observation Haki, Escanor often forgot to activate it.

So he got lost. Often.

He had been with the Seven Deadly Sins earlier.

After settling things there, he turned around and realized all of them were gone.

Then he felt the battle here and simply followed the noise.

"Let's go," Kobayashi said. "There's nothing worth guarding here anymore."

"I doubt those Guardians will dare to cause trouble so easily now."

"I'll go with you."

She turned and looked at Kanna, who was still staring blankly like her brain had not caught up.

"Kanna, please."

"Huh?!"

"Okay!"

Kanna shifted into a giant dragon and lay down on the ground.

Kobayashi scooped Tohru up and set her onto Kanna's back.

Escanor climbed up after them, still looking awkward.

"This is troublesome," he muttered, as if the world itself was designed to inconvenience him.

Kanna beat her wings once, hard.

And in a blink, the giant dragon vanished into the sky.

"Did they leave?"

"Lord Jack, the Dragon Hunter Pirates already left!"

The Beast Pirates who had been pretending to be unconscious immediately sprang up.

One of them ran over to Jack and shouted like his life depended on it.

Bang!

Jack punched him in the head.

"What are you yelling for?!"

"They haven't gone far yet!"

It had taken real effort to survive that disaster by playing dead.

If they drew the Dragon Hunter Pirates' attention again, they would all die for real.

The pirate rubbed his head, aggrieved.

"Lord Jack… what do we do now?"

He could not hide the fear in his voice as he glanced toward the direction Kobayashi and the others had disappeared.
