Sabina clenched her phone, eyes shut tightly as she fought to keep her emotions in check. Her long hair fell over her face, concealing the subtle tremble of her lashes.
The hospital room was utterly silent. Her manager stood by, growing increasingly uneasy.
Several tense seconds passed before Sabina finally calmed her breathing and opened her eyes again. The cold fury that had twisted her elegant features was gone. She looked up and said quietly, "Please call the nurse for me."
Her manager blinked, clearly stunned and still trying to grasp what had just happened.
Sabina raised her hand.
Only then did the manager's eyes drift downward to the pale hand she lifted.
Just moments ago, Sabina had been on an IV drip. She had ripped the needle out herself. The skin had torn, and dark blood had seeped from the vein. Her hand was now swollen, discolored with a deep bruise, raw and brutal.
Sabina met the stunned gaze with a faint, composed smile. "I hurt myself by accident."
