"That's wonderful! Thank you, Mommy!" Hilary exclaimed, jumping up and down with joy.
Just then, a sleek red sports car pulled up, and a woman dressed in designer clothes, adorned with jewelry, stepped out.
Claire looked up and felt her expression harden. It was none other than Emma. Instantly, she let go of Hilary's hand, afraid that Emma might notice and start suspecting something.
Emma glanced over and spotted her, a mocking smile tugging at the corner of her lips.
"Claire, what car are you using to pick up the kids?" she asked, looking around as if she already knew the answer.
"None," Claire replied coldly, brushing her off.
Emma raised an eyebrow. "So, Gilbert actually agreed to let a pauper like you pick up the kids?"
Claire tightened her grip on Hilary's hand and started to walk away. She had no interest in engaging with a woman like that, and she didn't want Hilary to be exposed to such cruelty.
