Claire sprang to her feet in terror and looked up. In the reinforced concrete above, a dark hole gaped, a black mouth in the ceiling.
As she lifted her eyes she felt, with a chill, as if a pair of glossy black eyes were looking straight down. Their gazes met.
"Gilbert Watson, have you no shame?" Claire snapped, furious.
What on earth did that bastard think he was doing? With the arrogance that came from his wealth, he'd brazenly taken to drilling and knocking through the wall above Zanna's building, he'd put a hole right through her office. Was there no decency left?
She hurled curses into the air.
Alvin, however, heard and looked up at the ceiling, his face darkening.
Gilbert had bought the Zanna building. As a shrewd businessman, he must have known this. He'd come looking for Claire the next day and couldn't find her. Now, seeing this, the pieces suddenly fell into place.
"Claire, don't worry. Let me deal with him." Alvin set his jaw and strode out.
